Notorious Monsters and Vanity gear

If you are going to introduce Vanity gear why not introduce Notorious Monsters as well.
I think if you made some of those Monsters drop Vanity that is exclusive and or can be put up in Auction house it will add an extra element that this game seems to be missing. ATM there is no go get them item to have just for the sake of having it. (Besides Minions)

If you add this to the game it will please many that like the FFXI system, while not intruding upon you gear progression system, it won't be a must have in game so players that want it simply put the time and effort into getting it or pay for it.

By introducing this system it will also help with the economy some what. Provided that some of the Vanity gear from NM's can be sold in Auction house.

The exclusive NM Vanity gear could have a custom Emote assigned if you get the full set. It provides goals that you can't achieve with by purchasing power and can be a decent time sync for those willing to put in the effort. Frankly I don't see why this would be a problem to implement. It could work very similar to how FFXI system worked. With a mixture of time spawned and mobs killed.

what do you thing about this? Feed back or additional ideas?

I also would love if crafters could make vanity gear.

Wouldn't it make more sense to have vanity gear be sold in stores or made by crafters?

I believe this would be a great time sync for the community,also I mentioned crafters being able to make vanity gear as well. perhaps you replied before I could add in the edited information, since there is a character limit.

I would love this. I like being able to collect stuff like the minions and mounts in game. Collecting vanity equip would be neat too!

Oh man drinking gives me some cool ideas, I think they could also allow Alchemist in stead of giving them Vanity gear to make they can make potions that turn you into some of your favorite minions for a limited time, this adds an extra consumable to be sold by Alchemist and might actually make them worth to have lvl 50, as it is now that is one of the most useless in game professions. The time limit doesn't have to last long and would be perfect for FC screenshots. Can also easily implement in such a way where these transmorph potions can be made in each tier of the crafting levels. Can use current mats that drop from their perspective monsters and the more rare transmorph materials would come from NM as well, as the Vanity gear. So it gives incentive to hunt them for multiple reasons.

Add to the discussion I would love to hear some ideas others have stored in their brilliant minds. Sometimes the best ideas for a game comes from the players itself.

There are already NMs in the game.
The problem is only that most NMs don't drop anything except exp, some gil and GC seals. And sometime also a minion. And Odin give you tomes that you can exchange for Odin gear.

It would be good if SE do something like in 1.0. Put some rare mats to the NM FATE rewards (5% chance to get it, but only if you get gold) and let the crafters craft vanity gears with the mats.

This is Square Enix we're talking about; it makes more sense to have vanity gear be sold as a reward for successfully completing FATEs which spawn rarely and randomly, FATEs which can very easily be over just as you get there given the random nature of them. OP should almost certainly get their wish, given this is almost exactly what Odin and Behemoth have set as a precedent.

I really do wonder when exactly I entered this bizarro backwards world... Best gear in the game? Relatively easy to get. Purely cosmetic gear? Camp NMs for months...

I can't speak for the whole community but fates are a tedious task that not many enjoy, while I do agree those are some what could be consider Notorious Monsters they would not be consider that in the FFXI sense. I have played many MMO's but haven't really seen a system like that since, FFXI. Sometimes you need something that is so haunting and or unforgiving in a game that draws you back so you can complete that task.

While it doesn't have to exceed nor match FFXI Notorious monsters system I would like a stand alone out side of fate type. some would require Fully party and or Alliances to beat. But the ones that require Alliances to beat it would drop 3 chest as they do in Crystal Towers. Give us more options/playstyle and you have a happier community.

Vanity gear for the sake of it not upsetting the new people to the mmo genre is a good thing and can still appeal to older members of the genre. I don't wish this to be a fate type thing. This is something more for the Hardcore grindy type. Where you have to actually be dedicated to the task. They are already going to implement Vanity gear I am simply suggesting they also do so in a way that caters to the more hardcore crowd. These NM's do not have to be easy and they should be unforgiving. But its okay we have different preferences. merely making suggestions.

Oh, I'm not against vanity gear being "difficult" to get, I just wish part of the games actual progression was equally as "difficult". They've already given us two iLv90 weapons, but you obtain them in almost the exact same way. Relics have a bit more leg work involved, certainly for the high quality version, but the new weapons from Extreme Primals are really not that different in how you obtain them... Really wish they'd made that more grindy...

the only concern I really have with vanity gear is that it will stack up in our inventory/armory/retainers. I really hope that they give us a wardrobe like for example the one in LOTRO(where you can store a 'look' and drag it to the vanity slot outfits and can use it again and again and again if you so wish) once this is implemented, because .if. they give us notorious monsters and have them drop these things, I'd rather not be forced to just have one. granted that's more a general concern about vanity gear, but it would be more of an issue with notrious monsters drops since it will take a while to get it. I'm a little concerned we lose a look if we go for a new one, and that would be reaaaally bad with seasonal stuff or drops from notorious monsters (the latter being 'in theory' of course)

I am a fan of this idea in general, just concerned about the end result. too many weird things going on in this game :P

I don't want anything that can be camped, but if it can't be camped then I'm all for NM's.

This. Absolutely. NMs already exist (some even have the same names as in FF11... Bubbly Bernie anyone?). And I would say Odin and Behemoth are most certainly NM's. But yeah, it's weird that other than a few minions in most cases, there aren't really any drops from them. I like the token system with Odin and Behemoth, but i definitely love your rare mats idea! I think that'd be a perfect addition to the game!

The NMs in XIV are NMS in name only. They really are no different then any other fate except there is 1 mob instead of many.

Odin and Behemoth are honestly no different then the chimera fate boss or bubbly burnie for the low level.

They are high level FATE bosses and nothing else. People asking for NMs do not consider FATE bosses NMS even if the devs themselves call them that.

NMs in XIV are the equivalent to Campaign Bosses in XI, which were free for alls back then as well which anyone could join.

2 different style events. It does not matter what SE does with FATE unless they lock people out (cannot have a free for all) and add worthwhile drops it will not make those who want NMS happy.

We had NMs in 1.0, but then they took them out. Which makes me sad really.

They should bring them back. Anywho, I really think this be a great opportunity to make crafting a useful skill set by allowing them to make vanity gear.
