i ahve all day for noobs who talk over experienced players. if im in a hate rotation and i see a blocakble aoe i should have access to my utility skill asap instead of wait to the gcd. that is the grey timer over your skill buttons when ever u skill or spell.
Oh no, I do. You don't understand that if they take it off the GCD, it means we can use it "instantly" without having to plan for a stun, which means that it would come with a heftier cooldown. And that's something I *don't* want, because being able to use it whenever the GCD's up helps a hell of a lot more when you're fighting multiple enemies with AoE's, or if you simply screw up and stun the enemy at the wrong time.
Warrior's stun being off GCD is a lie. Try using your stun in the middle of your tanking rotation, there'll be 1 second of delay... Compare to 2.5 second GCD on pld, pld got it easy with no cooldowns.
Just saying, any content that needs stuns can be solo tanked easily by a paladin while stunning all abilities. GG, pld tanking is so braindead easy as is, you want to make it even more so? All you have to do is slow down your combo when the stunnable ability is coming up ffs!

Shouldn't be as bad with the new enmity buffs. It gets easier as you memorize patterns too. Sure hope none of the ex primals need stuns, they're random aren't they? Def need an off tank then.
Ah CT. I think the only situation where you'd *need* stun is on the big succubi for their terror attack-thingy in the early part right? charge up seems to be enough for you to be stuck in combo and still stun it, though idk I've only went on war so far. Only mt'd too so idk if there are adds that *need* stuns.

The problem is not the global cooldown. It's the fact that it's influenced by animations, so previous animation needs to have ended before you perform the shield bash. This means that getting one in is just a matter of luck, as even autoattack will delay it.
I'm fine with global cooldown, but animations should not delay any kind of timing related moves, like stuns and silences.

you do realize if they put shield bash off the GCD the cooldown would be terrible... look at WAR off GCD stun oh don't you forget the 1,7 delay of it actually happening
Seeing how animation locks cause you to only get one non-GCD action off in between attacks anyway, removing it from the GCD won't change how often you can use it.
And if you were somehow able to use it more frequently than you can now, it would still be fully resisted in a matter of seconds. You'd never want to spam it even if you could.
I'd rather see it so that Shield Bash no longer interrupts building combos.
I agree stuns/interrupts should be instant and off the GCD.. even if they have to have a CD at that point it's still way better than they are now.
GLD/PLD already has a 6 second stun, the longest lasting stun that I'm aware of. Taking it off GCD and giving it a short cooldown like you probably want is a bit much, eh?

Many MMOs have interrupts off GCD. Stuns are usually an extra thing for tanks to use during their rotations that makes things more fun and a bit more random. In FFXIV, tanks have to babysit stuns, sometimes pausing threat rotations to wait to use a stun. If the tank is particularly good at stunning, then the tank also has to deal with enemies building stun resistance. Instead of being fun, stuns in FFXIV are annoying.
Take stuns off GCD. Stuns should not disrupt threat combos or otherwise annoy the tank. That's not fun. Warriors and paladins should also have the same stun: instant, off GCD stun with 7-10s cooldown. (Also remove the disabling effect, turn the stun into an interrupt.) If FFXIV wants stun resistance, then design fights so that the dangerous interruptible attacks are spaced out far enough that good tanks can stun them all.
Paladins only press 1-2-3 as it is. God forbid they actually have to think about when to spend a GCD on stun or something.
Working as intended. If people fail to remember predictable patterns then we fail as a generation of ADD gamers. I'm warrior. I have to keep three buffs up at the same time while holding threat and dealing burst damage. How do you think I feel knowing that if i mess up a stun I have to wait 20 secs for the next one?
