Still cant agree, i know what you want to say and im feeling very sorry for all melee chars, i normaly play melee too, but you cant disable jump, cause to fix an problem for melee chars, you will greate an problem for all kite chars and i dont speak of bunnyhopping.
Thats why SE cant disable it.
I still can't wrap my head around your reasoning. I've seen you say this a couple times now, and one description you gave was very bland and uninformative. I'm not trying to be rude, but if someone could explain how this is relevant I would appreciate it.

My Text got deleted cause i was afk for to long, so i just write the short variant.
There are many ways of running:
- You can simply run away, while everybody stabbing your back and you are not able to do something except run
- to skew away, is a viable method and you can do dmg, but you'll be slower than anyone who is chasing you
- ofc you can backpaddel, but you'll move like 30% movement speed and yeah, you'll die
- you can use the jumpturnaround method, like you want to keep a safe distance between you and your follower, except bards, they want to keep the max. distance between you and your follower, cause they have a melee malus and only do the half dmg in melee.
The Basic thing is, you dont lose movementspeed while jumping, so you take advantage of that and jump, turn around, use your instant skill/spell and turn back to land on the ground and run further away, thats not exactly 100% movement speed, but above 90%, thats the best kite method for years, cause you can keep safe distance AND do dmg while you run away.
I Hope you understand what im trying to say, i dont want to defend jump, they should fix this ASAP, but not everybody jumps to exploit.

Just random numbers for example:
You can run a Distance from 10 Yalm in 10 seconds.
You can bunnyhop a Distance from 10 Yalm in 10 seconds.
You are not slower, cause you jump.
So, run a Distance from 10 Yalm and dont know, Jump 3 times while you turn around, press a button and turn back to land and move forward, you'll get it in 9 seconds.
To skew a Distance from 10 Yalm you need 12 seconds.
To backpaddel a Distance from 10 Yalm you need 20 seconds.
So like i said, its the fastest way to run and cause you turn around you also can use skills, so you are not a wasted slot in pvp.
You can do that in first person or in 3rd person, doesnt matter, all you need is to turn around while you jump, if you land between, you'll get fucked by melees chasing you.
Edith said: You can use the legacy movement with auto-face Target to run away, shot on your follower and still run 10 Yalm in 10 seconds. So this is the best method, cause the melees dont get fucked by jumping.

If you have 'face target on cast' enabled, you'll turn automatically. Unless you are in midair, you will take an about-face into the enemy before your right-mouse-hold corrects your direction of movement. If you don't have it enabled, well, you'll have to manually do the same.
Jumping is not required for using abilities while running. Strafing is just as viable as jumping, without the position check de-sync that prevents you from being hit. I've watched streams of people playing BRD, SCH/WHM, BLM/SMN where they talk about how over the top this problem is. They purposefully take advantage of this to become practically invulnerable. Grouping with only ranged and caster jobs to exploit it to it's fullest. If none of your team members can die, you cant lose!
On a side note, don't come in here to drop the "QQ melee" bombs on us, when it's known that it affects casters and even healers casting animations as well.
You know that "Backpedal" not exist if you use Legacy-Movement Settings right? So in 3rd Person View Backpedal does not exist, unless you use Standard-Settings, or play in 1st Person View.
So yeah, it is hard to understand that people don't even know the Basic-Settings of the Game.
Here the same, you do not turn under Legacy-Movement. You can straight run away from the target while shoting at it, without facing it.

I think its just a waste of time to discuss with a melee about kiting, you'll get kited all the time, maybe you didn't realized.
You'll be slower with legacy movement, cause when you turn around to hit, you dont move this second, you cant just turn around in 0.1s and use a skill, cause the animations in this game are way to long and your hit will be interrupted, so you'll be slower with legacy movement than with jump.
But i just think you dont know much about kiting, cause that jumping method is used for centuries now.
How would you know the Class i play in PvP? I play Bard btw lol.
Like i've said; you do not turn around while kiting with Legacy-Movement. The only circumstance for that is playing in 1st person view and have Auto-turn when using an Action. You can also turn that off under Settings. :rolleyes:

Yes, this jumping method is always used by kiters, thats the reason why its used here, not everybody knows the legacy mecanic.
And i have to say, you're right about legacy movement, last time i tested i may fucked my self a little while testing.
It's true, that you can kite without jumping while use legacy movement, i edit my older post with that.
