The Effective Purchasing Power of Your Savings

Yeah, I know, I'm kind of late to the party with all this but I couldn't post for 10 days and, well... yeah.

Anyway... I'm just perplexed over one thing. When gil was redenominated, we were told that the reasons for doing so were because of arrow prices, more or less, because arrows would be removed from the game and that there would be no need for that extra digit so they sliced it off and lowered prices of everything to compensate (since arrows were about 2 gil each).

Most players flipped out over it but we were ensured that it wouldn't affect us in any way, that we wouldn't even notice. But there's one quote that really sticks out for me...

What happened to this promise? Why do legacy players have to pay 3-10x more than other players for housing when we were specifically told that our purchasing power would remain the same? It was even underlined to add emphasis, not once but twice.

Why are players that supported this game being punished for supporting SE when the rest of the world flaked and left the game and the company for dead? Did we forget all the "lol, SE's going bankrupt because of this failure of an MMO" comments three years ago?

I'm not asking to be treated any different for having supported the game. No, I wish to be treated equally, regardless of how long I've supported the game for. Is that really too much to ask? I mean, I was basically told I would be, wasn't I? Yet I'm not.

And, mods, please don't ban me for expressing my concerns and opinions. If this comes off as me attacking SE or something, I'm sorry. I'm not. I'm just really frustrated with this and would like an answer. And I think I have every right to be upset.

I don't know where I heard this from, but...

Legacy is a prison. You may enter but not leave, and you will be branded with the Legacy mark.

Quite frankly I see no effect other than artificially magnifying values used in transactions by forcing Legacy server players to earn that much gil in the first place.

This is how I feel. I'd gladly pay the normal sub fee if it meant I was treated equally, but not at the cost of losing all my progress. It's pretty messed up if you ask me.

There were many things they said that they completely went against their word on. Not much more to say about it anymore, but I've come to the point that if they say anything or hype something up I can no longer believe it until I actually experience it myself, because it's never how they say it'll be.

So far i dont trust them anymore, i wanted to sup for another 180 days but after what they did to legacy people, i didn't.

If SE wanted ARR to be a progress reset I think they should have been honest and forthright about it with us all along. When they told us we were keeping our gear and money it was clearly intended as a motivator; something we could work on if we wished for the remainder of 1.0's service to get a head start going into ARR. However, that "head start" turned out to be mostly meaningless. Our 2% drop rate dungeon speedrun grindfest gear became virtually-handout starter endgame gear. Our multi-million gil (post-redenomination) melds were compensated with a handful of dungeon runs worth of tomes (without even any special compensation for what had been expensive melds vs. cheap melds). White ravens? Stat wipe. Limited time goobbue? Not so limited after all (I know it's not identical). Perhaps worst of all, the relic quest was also trivialized relative to its original incarnation.

Most of those things we got over (some more easily than others) because seeing the game improve was more important. The housing fiasco put things over the top. I'm glad to hear that they intend to normalize prices over time, but it's pretty hard not to take it as a slap in the face. It seems clear from what Yoshi said that the real underlying issue is that they don't have the instance capacity to support Legacy worlds that have a larger number of people with a sizable gil balance, but in my opinion the answer to that is to fix the capacity issue (which is going to become an issue eventually anyway), not look at how much money people have and then move the goal posts to create artificial scarcity and delay the demand a while longer. Housing has been probably the #1 most-promoted feature in the run up to ARR and even post-launch. There's been ample time to get the capacity stuff figured out.

Not that I'm arguing, as that is certainly a large sum of money, but you do realize that they are planning to drastically cut the prices of land on Legacy Worlds so that they match the costs of non-legacy Worlds right?

Granted this won't be happening until next year, they're not blind to the complaints on the forum.

SE endorses RMT i see bots still running around i see people buy stuff i know they cant afford being brand new. i get my share of rmt site.com /tell spam.

after this billing period im not paying till maybe 2.2 if SE still against the players im finished.

Its funny you say that. We're suppose to enjoy an update that happened a week ago in. . . . months from now? Mind you I'm not asking to get everything the second the update happens. I just want to be able to plan on getting it or helping my FC work for it. What they did just discourage us from caring at all.

Today I went to Gridania housing section just to see if anybody has the balls to buy anything in there. . . . It was a nice zone by the way. It was just pathetic to see nothing in there. I'm from excalibur the cheapest large house was under 210mil and the medium houses was worth 80mil. That's pathetic.

That's not the point. Why should some players have to wait longer than others to experience the same content? Everyone pays a sub fee. It just so happens that it's the people that stuck with the game when everyone else bailed on it that have been waiting the longest for this and now have to wait even longer, despite being told that what they did to our gil wouldn't affect our purchasing power. And to top it off, even new players on these servers are being punished for this. The value of gil should be equal across all servers except for on the market boards, since it's player driven, right from the start.

So what if there a few extra houses on legacy worlds? People playing on them have been playing for 3 years and, if I'm not mistaken, they're also the most populated servers. Housing should reflect that, yet it doesn't. It's completely backwards. There are more houses on new servers than there are on legacy comparing them server to server. In fact, I'm willing to bet there are a handful of newer servers that have more houses on one server alone than all the legacy servers combined.

All this talk about rebuilding the players' trust and all I see is let down after let down and I just want to know why. Why is 1/6 (likely even more since there are quite a few ghost-town new servers) of the entire population of the game being treated like they don't matter? How do you trust a company that does that?

The Problem i have with the Pricing is actually not the Price itself, it is more what SE and Yoshi said weeks/months before that. "3-5 People need to level from 1-50 to have enough gil for a house".

I still do not see how 3-5 people can get 20.000.000 Gil from just leveling from 1-50, for the smallest available Plot on the Server i am on. This was a totally missleading Statement and does not even fit for the cheapest World.

1. News of expensive housing is released.
2. People save money.
3. Price of housing is now based on money people saved for housing.
4. 625,000,000 gil! All that money you saved made the price of housing HIGHER!

This is exactly it. This is what's so outrageous and why legacy members especially have a right to be furious with how this game has treated them.

As mentioned previously on the official forums ( http://sqex.to/-e5 ), the pricing of land for legacy Worlds will be adjusted in incremental steps to match the pricing of the following non-legacy Worlds (Hereafter referred to as Group A):

Bahamut／Behemoth／Cactuar／Carbuncle／Chocobo／Diabolos／Fenrir／Garuda／Gilgamesh／Ifrit／Leviathan／Mandragora／Midgardsormr／Odin／Ramuh／Shiva／Siren／Tiamat／Titan／Tonberry／Ultros


Pricing for the following legacy Worlds is currently set at 2.5 times the amount of those in Group A (Hereafter referred to as Group B):
Balmung／Excalibur／Hyperion／Ragnarok／Sargatanas

The final price of land for Group B will first be reduced from 2.5 to 2.25 times the amount of Group A. Over the course of the next week, the price will be reduced from 2.25 to 2 times the amount of Group A. Over the course of six weeks, the final price of land for Group B will continue to drop until it has reached the same value as Group A.
* Adjustments to pricing will apply to all plot sizes.

Pricing for the following legacy Worlds is currently set at 5 times the amount of those in Group A (Hereafter referred to as Group C):
Aegis／Durandal／Gungnir／Masamune／Ridill
The final price of land for Group C will first be reduced from 5.0 to 4.5 times the amount of Group A. Over the course of the next week, the price will be reduced from 4.5 to 4 times the amount of Group A. Over the course of eight weeks, the final price of land for Group C will continue to drop until it has reached the same value as Group A.

Furthermore, the final price of land across all Worlds will be re-evaluated at some point in the latter half of January. Please be advised that the pricing of land on all Worlds will be subject to change even after the above adjustments have been made.

from 2.5 to 2.25? God damn.. we are so lucky to save us 2 Mil on the cheapest Plot. So instead of 20.000.000, only 18.000.000 yay.. :rolleyes:

Oh even better.. the cheapest Large Plot is now not 250 Mil, it is only 225 Mil!...

Is that supposed to be a Joke or something? 1st April is like 4 Month away, so is there a different day for pranks, i am not aware of?

The thing is the factor: Time. Most people simply do not want to wait several Month to enjoy Content, which was released a week ago and actually is nothing more than "Vanity and Cosmectics". If my Server drops to 100 Mil instead of 250 Mil ( right now ), i am fine with that. But why not now? Why do we have to wait several weeks/month for those adjustments?

Saw it and not satisfied at all. We still have to wait longer than everyone else. I'm tired of being treated as an inferior customer when I've supported this game far longer than most people. Prices should be equal for everyone. Not 3 months from now, not 1 month, now. This isn't an entitlement issue. It's a matter of providing each paying customer with the same service with no discrepancies between one customer and the next. Stop punishing people for supporting you.

I think we should unsub and come back after 3 months
