Crystal Tower: Do we really have to wait 6 months just to enter the actual tower?

After completing the Ancient Maze I did not find any quest to unlock the actual raid into the Crystal Tower.

First, I am aware of the update schedule for this game. Every 3 months we will get a version update. So in 3 months from now we will get 2.2 but in 2.2 we will not get any update to the Crystal Tower, only Coil. So that means we have to wait an entire 6 months to get into the actual tower.

When I heard we would be getting the Crystal Tower in 2.1 I assumed we would get 4 floors of raids, just like Coil, so why did we only get a single raid? If we have to wait 6 months for new content on Crystal Tower, why only give us a single floor each update?

I am asking you Yoshi P to please give us more floors in the Crystal Tower in 2.2 because there is only one raid floor at this very moment.

Discussion: Are you fine with having only one raid for the Crystal Tower for the next 6 months?

I am not saying there is not enough content overall in the 2.1 update.

we need more repeated content and slam the word extreme on it to make it actually count as new content!

I'm usually patient with this stuff, but after clearing it yesterday, I want more. It's a fun dungeon (although at times, I thought, having 24 people in one dungeon, trying to work together, is an awful awful idea... our alliances could not work together at all...), plus I'm really interested in the story of it all... 6 months is too long to find out "what happens next".

I agree, though I think what is being suggested will potentially backfire. More than likely, the Raids team are the same group that work on Coil and CT. If they break them in half to try and develop floor designs for both CT and Coil at the same time, what we'll get is 1-2 floors in Coil in 2.2 and maybe a floor in CT. I understand that some people may prefer that, but I think their current design is the better approach. Allow them to focus on Coil for the next patch update, after that, they can hopefully give us 5 floors worth of content for CT itself.

If you recall the Monster poster they released months ago, they have a LOT of potential bosses to be used in CT.

They just wont give you the next floors that doesn't mean they cannot continue the story. They probably need more Crystals and Aethersand and their families could get hungry. Maybe they even build a camp and need some materials. Isn't that fun? .......

2.2 Reputation dailys to build a machine in order to open the CT door!

Why didn't they put the same amount of floors in the Crystal Tower that were in the first set of Coil raids? I mean we will have to wait a whole half of a year and they thought that one level of the Crystal Tower would be enough content? I don't understand.

Because there's more to 2.1 than just one dungeon.

Maybe they felt that many players would see that as well.

Hell, I've only done maybe 40% of this patch so far, many quest lines haven't even been started yet.

Though grinding out CT for tomes is nice, longer than AK was, but not by much. Last night's best run had everything done in about 40 minutes. Smooth.

I don't think that one floor of CT is comparable to one turn of Coil.
In the single 'floor' of CT (not really a floor considering it's outside, i guess) we got 4 bosses, 2 mini bosses and some trash. In a single turn of coil we get one of the following: Turn 1: Miniboss, some trash and a boss. Turn 2: Minibosses(?) and a boss. Turn 3: lol! Turn 4: Some trash made into a boss fight, Turn 5: Boss
for a total of 2 minibosses, 4 bosses, some trash and a lol!.

If the labyrinth had been split into coil-style turns (ie first turn is just bone dragon and trash, second turn is just thanatos and atomos, etc.) would you have not complained?

I'm fine with it because I know 2.2 isn't just going to be Coil, just like 2.1 wasn't just CT. Levithan and Ramuh are schedule to make an appearance. Possible roaming Primals will finally come out. New dungeons and HM/EX content is a given. They might even have different 24 man content that isn't related to CT.

Basically as long as they deliver on the content I'm happy.

Agreed, they should have held back the release of any new content another 3+ months just to give us something the OP feels would be meaningful. We cannot be happy with anything so give us all of it now.

Also, new content clearly grows on trees and can simply be plucked and tossed right into the existing game, so no excuses there.

After spending so much time with WoW content which is released way overtuned for the world first races and then nerfed over time I'm actually kind of satisfied with what little I've heard of and seen of the content. Certainly I think it'd be good to see at least two raids but I feel like the whole "we have to wait 6 months to unlock the next level!" thing is sort of distracting and diminishing the point. Would it really be a problem if 2.2 saw the next BC Turn and some additional unrelated raid content?

This thread isn't about there being no content overall. This is only focusing on the Crystal Tower.

I knew there would be people that come in here treating me as if I want everything handed to me now. Why? Because there are people who come into threads who do not read the OP and only reply to the title of the thread.

You're just making such an esoteric point. What if 2.2 just swapped BC for CT, well then we'd be waiting even LONGER for that new turn of BC. It's the same problem. If you have no issue with the amount of content then you should understand that this was inevitable.

Uh no you didn't but if we just ADD the Tower portion of CT to the extra turn of BC in 2.2 then isn't that more content? That's not what you're asking for right? I'm just assuming we can have one or the other given that 2.1 only had one raid thing in it.

What is wrong with asking for more content anyway? Just be aware in your original post it sounds like you got to the end of Ancient Maze and were confused why you couldn't get into the Crystal Tower and have more of a raid, that is literally being unsatisfied with the amount of content. There's absolutely nothing wrong with that.

SE said that during release of 2.0 they had both the CT and Coil ready. However they felt they needed to test the CT more. So I assume, and I could be wrong, that the first floor (Ancient Maze) was already created and done by release of FFXIV 2.0. So from release to now, they didn't make a single floor in the CT? Do you expect me to believe that? What is wrong with releasing one floor in the CT along with the floors for Coil in 2.2 to make up for no floors inside the actual tower in 2.1?

In that second quote you essentially say, "There is not enough content. I am not saying there is not enough content."

You message is completely incoherent.

What this boils down to is you do want more content but you want it without any regard to the creation process. The developers are creating content for people who enjoy various aspects of the game, which means no one aspect is going to be heavily focused on to the point it satiates everyone in that segment. Sure they could simply churn out a bunch of half-baked content that looks like crap, but then you will complain about quality.

Have some appreciation for the process and quit being petulant.

Uh, you have been to coil right? Each floor is so short, you can equate them to less than a wing of CT.

Yeah the last thing that really sticks in my mind was Heroic Spine. It's good if they moved away from the whole Strength of Wrynn nonsense, but I doubt I'll be going back to that.

Well presumably the story continues, as Biggs and Wedge ready the Siege weapons at the gates of Crystal Tower :P. I think I can better understand where you're coming from here, you're really chomping on the bit for more Crystal Tower, but I think generally people in MMOs are happy to have new content even if it's not a direct continuation of the content from the last patch. So yeah I think most people don't mind waiting 6 months.

Yes it continues but you still can not go inside the tower. Now I and everyone else have to wait a half of a year to enter the CT. But we are suppose to believe that 2.1 gave us CT.

And it in no way indicates that everyone is pining for additional content right now. You are blowing through the content as soon as it is released. You are one of those people. You would never be satisfied unless new content is being released on a weekly basis. You, however, are not representative of the larger player base in any way, shape or form.

If you can not deal with the wait time, find something else in game to do or cancel your sub and play another game for a couple years and then come back to this one, because by then there should be enough content to hold you over for a month.

2.1 , after clearing the 1 level that was before entering the Crystal Tower: "stay tuned for an update to crystal tower in 6 months, where we bring you to the front door of the crystal tower! Beating a single raid once is blowing through content? A single raid?

For the entire school semester I didn't play the game and I kept my sub active. Only three days ago did I come back to the game, I didn't have my relic weapon, and I had not beat Titan until after I came back. That is 4 months after the release of this game. But because I want to actually enter the CT I am blowing though content. lol

The CT was ready for release before 2.0 even came out. They held it back for "testing". Then when its released we only get a raid that isn't even inside the Crystal Tower. I guess I have to look forward to it 6 months from now. I'll laugh if the next raid is on the bridge leading to the Crystal Tower and that's it.

You are right. You are assuming that everyone who plays is happy with the Crystal Tower content, yet you have not taken the time to ask everyone. I should have ignored you based off that.

Fact remains that the Crystal Tower comes 6 months from now. You are ok with that. I am not.

The game is fantastic, but I will come back to it when the stuff they promised is ACTUALLY in game. (and attainable).

It's a beautiful remake of the old FFXIV. It has tons of potential... but I have zero patience for artificial barriers and excuses for half finished content. I will check in at the first expansion. By then it should be a more fleshed out game.

I mean how many times can you re-hash primals (which were part of 1.0)... before you are ashamed?

It would not be that drastic. We had 2 Expansion teams with FFXI and one worked on Chains of Promathia while one worked on Treasures of Aht Urghan at the same time and both were perfectly expansion packs (one introducing 3 jobs to boot.) XIV ARR also has significantly more development members than XI ever had including developers from other projects, i.e DQX, KH and console divisions, not just their online division. If they split the load it would be perfectly fine as long as they don't start development one after the other.

For example they want every 3 months to be a big update, they could do what FFXI does these days and break down large patches into "Part 1 and Part 2" a month, for example in late January they could introduce some back quests for Crystal Tower then Mid Feb introduce a section of CT. If CT is built like Nyzul Isle was, they can easily expand it every month or every update rather than every other update.

As many times as they want. Because they're pretty much the Old Gods of XIV. You can't truly put them down for good. Also Titan wasn't in 1.0.

The game is great. They have problems. They will be fixed over time... which is great. I will re-sub when the game is more complete and they have servers to handle housing...and CT is the actual tower.

They say look forward to it... and I do! I will look forward to it, and come back when it is actually there.

-Titan
-Leviathan
-More Primals, i.e Garuda (Got), Shiva, Ramuh, Diabolos, Carbuncle, Fenrir, Kjata and so on, basically more FF summon fights.
-Better Relic Quest, if you even played 1.x you'd realize a lot of people didn't even attempt Relic or stopped after seals.
-More content in general.
