[Video] Longnu - Dragoon PvP

A collection of clips that were taken on the very first day of PvP in 2.1. Featuring 4v4 battles in Wolves' Den. There are evident issues from latency and lack of actual snares that make melee extremely susceptible to unintentional deadzoning. However, with high mobility options and respectable burst damage, the Dragoon is still a solid choice in PvP.

Are dragoons PVP skills any good?

Been slaughtering today as Mnk/Drg/Sch/Pld due to the burst and using Weapon Throw between the two of us to slow those down that try to get away from us.

Done 4 pvp matches with brd. Always been a one sided match because brds seem to have a huge advantage.

Geez, you'd think that with all the doom and gloom whining that's been happening over melee in PVP that would have just been a video of your whole team being permasleeped and nuked down by a single blm or all 4 of you being totally unable to even dent a whm's hp.

Then again, I have holmgang to hold the squishy little bastards in place while someone else turns their insides into a pretty painting all over the floor.

I like it! it shows what kind of stuff I should be trying to focus on..

Yes, they are good. Not overpowered and not underpowered. Solid and reliant.

Bards have an advantage due to latency and range checks. If this is fixed, things would be more balanced.

This is the first comp I ran with Ming. It was okay. I find MNKs are too easy to shut down and their on-demand burst is somewhat lacking for how often they fall behind.

I plan on making more and perhaps streaming in the future.

My god...as if you needed to make a video to show how screwed up PvP is at the moment. Between 20 second Sleep and even a simple auto attack breaking spells, it's incredibly frustrating for both melee and casters; matches last way too short. I know it's just come out, but this is...just bad.

As for the video itself, extremely well done. Congratulations for you and your teammates.

We'll definitely try Monk/Dragoon combo again ;). With a full premade group this time hopefully. It does have very good damage, though I think the one weakness here, even more than deadzone, is our somewhat lack of CC compared to certain comps like...

PLD/SMN/BRD/WHM
PLD/SMN/BLM/WHM

Facing these comps I have been CCed endlessly even with fetter ward and purify. Pretty frustrating, a good healer is essential to deal with comps like this.

I have been using my blm for sleep. After seeing this... time to test out my drg.

The good thing I've noticed so far about DRG is they tend to fare well in just about any comp. Also due to the tone up on our 3 hit combo, Impulse Rush is a great ability to snag along the way. I would suggest getting Purify before any other PvP ability (get rid of those sleeps) and Weapon Throw to help ease the kiting.

I'm very impressed, and this is the sort of thing I like to see from the fanbase. Look forward to seeing more vids in the future.

Despite the complaints from these boards, including myself, I still *enjoy* the PvP in this game. Sure it has some utterly ridiculous problems but it has potential. My wish is that *that potential* does not go to waste like many other games have done in the past. I don't have lofty expectations for the PvP in this game, though I believe it can be attuned to a better state.

Sorry, but when I see one of the opponents teamates sitting there watching you and your buddie bash on their healer really doesn't look good for a video. :/

You mean Sleep? We were on VOIP using a WHM that, y'know, CC'd opponents...

My next vid will be more helpful in terms of text or I may just put on the raw audio of our VOIP and extend clips for a better learning experience. Sleep, however, can be identified by closely looking at the ones 'standing still'. There is a small 'doze' effect on their heads that disappear every few seconds.

Look forward to seeing how PvP changes as people rank up and gain new abilities. Look forward to seeing new strategies and a new metagame. Looking forward to the next vid.

Sleep also has a sound effect when it lands on someone :)

Sad truth about monks. I didn't play a lot of pvp matches so far but this is what I found out as well.

Metagame may change. MNKs play like Enhancement Shamans from WoW. It's a more subtle class than most of the others and probably harder to master, which is why we have not see any prominent monks. Besides Ming.

Idk I'm thinking of rerolling DRG after seeing your video :P. They are more mobile, summoners just own my life as a monk :\.

It will get better with time and experience. Not discounting the fact that SMN needs a tone down, however.
