Not sure if its the commendations, the fact that we can now vote kick, or more people using the DF. In anycase, my experiences today have been pleasant.
I'm not going to lie... The first Duty Roulette group I joined this morning irked me and I was only nice because of the commendations. I got into low level Ifrit and right off the bat a PGL just runs up and starts whacking Ifrit after he gets out of the cutscene. Then he didn't attack the nail and we wiped. I could've overlooked the nail thing despite my asking if everyone knew what to do but engaging a boss mob when A. you're not the tank and B. the rest of the group isn't ready... There's no excuse for that other than you're a moron. Either way, yeah, it's totally working and there have already been several occasions where I wanted to get snarky but did not because I wants those commendations!
You realize how pathetic this is. SE actually had to give people a reason to be nice. People are so terrible now that they can't even consider being nice until they think they will lose out on a reward...sigh...
In the words of Sheldon Cooper:
I weep for humanity.
But it worked :D
Unless you're the tank...then you can be a dick about it still.
I'm always nice to people at the start but when they continue to not listen and do dumb shit....these rewards from SE are not going to hold me back.
What are these rewards anyway?
Well it worked but it is sad that they needed to implement something like that :)
From the people I have been talking to in game, it seems like only Heals and Tanks are getting commendations. Is anyone else seeing this trend?
As much as I agree with you, the results are clear. I can't really complain about that even if SE is bribing some people to be nice. Granted, I haven't ran into too many...winners, myself. The community isn't so bad. The only time I've seen people be less than kind is either those rare times others are being jerks, or just being plain stupid, and you can't fix stupid.
I noticed it too that everyone was super friendly and all.
The only exception was the Story roulette where they just blandly ignored the new players that wanted to enjoy the cutscenes and just rushed into the battles.
But I think it won't last long tbh. Like Garuda Ex just now, 2 wipes most were new to Garuda , ragequit with a short "noobs" as a goodbye.
Shame though the higher the level, the lower the fun allowance in this game. Where's the no fun allowed robot when you need him..
A bit off topic but when I was running around in Mor Dhona there was a shout in my log LFG Ultimas Bane. 99% chance of fail but run for fun and practice. "
I thought this was a big change from the norm.
I have noticed this too. So far I've always been nice and helpful, even held back on my damage to not get hate off tanks (I'm on Archer), and haven't gotten any commendation yet. I think from now on I'll be commending only DPSs, unless I am given reasons against it. Us DPSs need some love too!
I actually got a commendation a drg today, must have done something right o.o
Honestly, with Tank as my first toon I was pretty petrified of DF as I was learning the new content. But I very very rarely had issues with people in DF. I heard all these horror stories but I have never experienced anything super terrible. When I'd announce it was my first time folks were usually responsive and helpful. But I never pugged/used DF for CM or Prae and by the time I was done with WP and started running AK regularly speed runs of WP became the in thing to do. So I've some how been really lucky in dodging the speed run community. Even in my DF Titan runs people were for the most part encouraging to those that were struggling.
It's true, people are much more friendly now than they were before... pretty unbelievable.
Not sure if this was asked and answered but do you get anything for getting the votes or tokens or whatnot? Just curious because I thought somewhere in the notes or during a live letter it was said that you could get mounts and minions once you had enough points. Also not to be a noob with this question but do you only get to vote on your party members if you do the que alone (the roulette thing)? I didn't get to play too much this morning as my daughter needs my attention until she goes to bed ^^
I have always been nice in the DF, but I have seen an change with the average DF people.
DF wasn't *that* bad before this. I mean really, out of over a hundred runs there is only a handful of instances that I can remember were people were d***wraiths.
I'm unsure, it's too soon for me to tell to be honest. Joined one group earlier in a Tam Tara, but it was nothing out of the ordinary. One person there was friendly enough and was holding a conversation well. Ended up giving him a vote, he happened to be a tank too. Go figure.
When nobody else stands out I will give to tank or healer, unless they really aggravate me. But if I get a for I can have fun with or that pulls out the win for us, I'll gladly give to them. Robot parties I cancel the option to give.
I got one as a DPS in Copperbell HM :)
Yes, you can only vote when queing alone.
You can still receive votes when queing with multiple people though (as long as it is not a full party). I got the recommendation above while queing with two friends.
itll work until ppl get whatever reward they are after, then they will go back to being jerks
Ye I'm amazed how well this system has worked out tbh lol people are less doughy in DF now
I look forward to getting many as a laladin :D
Mainly because I'd say about 75% of the time I get a "lala tank! <333" or "Quiz your name is so cute <3" :33
I'm generally not an arse in DF anyways. I tend to talk and joke with people :D
I agree. I did garuda for 1st watched the cs and 2 others were still watching it...few minutes after they finished no commented to skip the cs.
After getting wiped I apologized for not dodging and they were cool with it. They were there for fun and were confident we'll beat her.
I must say it brought my morale back up, lol.
It's been cool so far. I've gotten some Commendations just for being a good healer according to those who give them. I quite like being recognized for the hard work
What do commendations even do?
