SE, you can set house price very high but here is what you should do

1. Benefit. Give FC a clear benefit when they own a FC house.
For example, 2% main attribut increase in a hour after stay in house over 5 mins
Or some benefit for crafting grinding. The bigger the house more player can get bonus from house.
Without a clear benefit, none will to buy a house with such high price even they can offer even higher price. It is not real world which we have to get a house for living.

2. Resell value. House can be resell when they got more Gil to offer even larger house. So FC still will to buy a small house as soon as they can offer it.

3. Give some house for auction every week. Just like foreclosure house. Let marketing decide what's it worth instead of a game director's decision.

I think #1 will make players that can't afford a house even more mad. I think it should stay as vanity till the Legacy kinks are worked out.

I don't think so. Do you feel mad if you saw a people drive a luxury car on street which you cannot offer? Or do you get mad when you saw players had better gear than you. They are the same. You just need work/play harder.

Think about how mad players are now where there is no real benefit for buying the FC house. If they're mad about not being able to afford something that provides nothing (performance wise), what makes you think they wouldn't when it does?

I used to have someone on facebook that complained about his section 8 paperwork not coming in.. and then complained that his camaro doesnt handle well in the winter. In cases like this, hell yes it makes me mad because if i didnt have to pay rent, i could buy one too >.>. now to relate that to ffxiv... uhh... yeah ive got nothing, i just hate that guy.

The devs plan on eventually adding content where FCs build an airship for use in future content via their house.

I'd love to read more about the airship you're talking about. Is there a reference/source for that?

2. You will be able to trade in your land deed towards a larger land deed. (I believe they said that feature was coming in 2.2)

3. Housing is a gil/crafting sink, not too mention that SE has stated that they would add housing as needed (as a certain percentage of the last instance get's filled up). Any FC that wants a house can buy one under this system, and even if they implemented an auction system for some of the houses, they'd just end up selling for a few gil less than whatever the current price SE has set is.

Housing is optional, you don't need it as a requirement to do something else... what exactly is the point you're getting at? Why does SE need to do something? There hasn't exactly been a huge outcry about the housing system. Will you also argue that there are no clear benefits to companions and SE needs to change that as well?

The main thread complaining about the price of houses got over 90 pages of responses in 2 days, let alone the hundreds of other sub-threads that people skip over. Not a big enough outcry for you?

None of these is real benefit if you read and make a deep thinking.

Honestly after looking at the plots besides the mindless cost for medium and large plots as I see it the real issue with housing is "room"

Imagining a FC of say 30+ active online members trying to even inhabit a large house at any one time just doesn't look doable after walking my Hyur female up to the red outline on a large lot.

While I do think a FC of say a dedicated 8man team could finance a small property, I wonder just how crowded that's going to be.

Double the scenario I described above and it's going to look more like a bread and soup line from the 1930's than FC housing.

The empty housing area is still a sanctuary with aetherytes, retainter bell and also an npc that sells mats for crafting.

Do what I do and squat there and do your crafting. Its nice and quiet w/o any people to bother you

Can't remember, but I think it was also mentioned when 2.0 was first announced.

Those are some nice points. However the main problem is that players need to donate an insane amount of their own money for something that isn't technically theirs. I don't know about other FCs but in my FC not many want to do it. I don't. I just don't want to donate all my savings so that my school can have a swimming pool. What if I change the school?

Do you feel mad if someone get a discount on food because they can buy a luxury car even if the two have no reason te bo related ?
Working hard for one thing have no reason to make all others unrelated things easier
