Why does CT have loot lockout?

We are already throttled on gearing our main classes to i90 via the bcob limits. Even with an infinite myth cap non-healer classes would still need certain bocb drops for accuracy cap. So SE has already prevented the "hardcore minority" from quick vertical growth on our main classes. The appeal of CT for myself, and many other players like me who are already full or nearly full i90 on their main, is horizontal growth. I want to gear up my other 7 classes to i80. I don't want to do it instantly or for free, I want to run large group content and earn the gear from the rng gods. Being full i80 would let me take an alternate class to turn five in a pinch or on a whim. That's be cool. Many of us were hoping that CT would become the new time sink. Bored? Go run CT and hope for one of the drops you need for the seven classes you aren't i90 on.

Problem with lockout: well, it's now 5 weeks to get full armor (6 if there is a belt). With the 450 cap, it's 7 weeks for full Af+1. So I shouldn't go for ct gear for my second favorite class, cus I'd have all the i90 almost immediately after I got Ct. I could do my third favorite class, but odds are I'm getting pieces from coil for both my second and third fave by now. Even if not, as soon as I get that set for my third fave, I'll finish Af+1 for my second fave and start on that third class... So my fourth favorite maybe? I just don't get it. We are getting what looks like an awesome new raid, but the reward is a five to six week wait for a single set of gear.

The new hard modes are all i60 as well. I already have full i60 from old ak farming. I was really hoping they'd be i70 as an alternate to darklight. Again, it's a chance for horizontal growth that's been snuffed out.

Don't get it twisted, this isn't elitist QQing. I don't want i80 gear for free (though, as it happens, I apparently get a second set of relics for free since I have all the mog weapons lol). And I'm not upset that there is no new "progression past t5" yet. A few months of easy farming rather than pushing will be nice. I'm just frustrated that sub-par gear is so throttled. i80 doesn't really open any doors for you. Having full i80 won't really leave you much better off than most current t5 groups. I don't see the point in limiting it.

SE you've got my subscription. I pay you to let me play this great game. Why do you keep telling me I can only have so much reward from that playing?

I agree, and you've worded a lot of my own issues with the CT lockout quite accurately.
A lockout for the highest tier of content is obviously fitting, but for the second set, it's pretty silly. Currently I only have one job geared enough for Turn 5, I'd love to be able to quickly gear a second (or god forbid a third) class to do Twintania with.

This accurately described how I feel on the CT lockouts as well.

One thing people have mentioned is that perhaps the gear lockout is on a per boss basis. If that is the case it would make me feel abetter about CT in general. I wish someone from SE would give us some details regarding this.

Glad to see I'm not the only person who is let down by this initial news for reasons other than QQ lazerbeams I've been here for a while, and I'm staying. I really don't understand why I pay to play but only get to play a little of some parts each week.

I'm doing my best to stay optimistic and hope that the "loot lockout" isn't so much a lockout but what it does is locks out your "Need" button when loot drops that is prime for your class. That way, you can still greed it so it doesn't loot rot.

I wish they had Loot lock out for Coil as well, Then I might have more luck finding a group when I miss a raid because im on call working that night .

Now with the bad stuff:

Say Mr Dbag tank / {insert a job here } gets an item from first boss , Mr Dbag tank then decides its not worth spending any more time in CT that week and quits .

Honestly, there just dragging out content until they can get the ball rolling on spitting out content to keep everyone happy. They didn't expect the start they had so that off set them by a bit. But honestly only getting one loot per week in CT or EM Primal's really is lack luster at best. Only bonus is that each week you get a new weapon from completing the EM Primal quest line. Kinda defeats the purpose of ever doing another Relic quest for alt classes. I kinda like that as the Relic quest is lame.

But now to what will be a very big issue. Once a person is locked out of loot for CT, and out of 24 people you'll see this trust me, that person will just leave. I honestly don't see people going past the first boss for a while just due to that fact.

A few thoughts on the lockout.

I'm not a fan of being locked out of content either, it drives me nuts that I can't redo turns in coil (even w/o loot, just to help FC/LS/FList folks). Loot locking can mean more than one thing, as someone else said earlier, it could just lock out your "need" option like back in beta where you couldn't "need" every drop. That would be great, actually coil on a 1 "need" 3 "greed" per week system would be awesome too. CT on a 1 "need" and 3 "greed" per 72 hours.

Will you end up with douches that leave once they can't get any more gear ... yeah, probably, it happens already in AK. I can't for the life of me understand why it happens, since the tomes you get are worth more than the actual drops, but it does happen.

I get the need for some form of slowing progression though, as much as some of us say "Let me go all I want." what we don't consider on the flip side of that instant gratification approach is that we do the run 10 times a day for 2 weeks, have every drop then bitch for 2.5 months that there's nothing left to do. SE is tempering that some because we don't seem able to do it ourselves.

If you think that you don't fit into that group ask: How often does it take you past Wed. to cap your myth and clear what you can of coil?
If the answer is: More or less never. Then chances are you do actually fit into that group.

That's all fine and dandy but what happens if more than one piece of loot drops for your class, and you have alrdy gotten your piece for the week? items will start to rot, n say one of your members still hasn't gotten his piece of loot for the week? yes, all those runs to get him/her the one loot piece, unless they let you roll Greed after you've alrdy gotten your piece for the week, all those other items, like I said are going to rot.

Seems like a piss-poor way of making a loot system, a poor excuse to prolong the game giving out gear, in an attempt to keep people playing.

If someone wants to quit the game, they will quit, not being fully geared will not prevent people from doing this.

Take for example Turn 5, a large majority of the population that has quit the game alrdy, has not killed Turn 5. Making loot acquisition slower will not keep people playing longer. I dont know why SE thinks this way.

A) Type the whole thing you wanna post, copy it, do an initial post of just 10characters, edit, paste in what you want to say. This will get around the 1k limit so you don't have to post 3 times.

B) I still do content I have all the rewards for. Even though I have all relics and all primal weapons, I still find myself doing hydra and iffy - titant to help the others in my fc. What I can't do is help them with coil, despite being the best geared and possibly most experienced tank in the company. I am starting to feel like a wasted resource. Sure, I make WP nearly impossible to fail, but... so does mediocre play in darklight.

C) I really agree that limiting loot doesn't keep people from quitting. If anything, I worry it might make people quit. If I started today, it'd be at least two months to vertically grow a main class to the point I could help in turn 5, for many this just discourages them and makes the content feel out of reach.

Players like me are always going to be on the edge of being out of things to do. We have all/nearly all classes 50, all classes more or less geared up (ex, all my crafters are melded enough to 100% hq all 2 star synths, no more room for growth there). Really the only depth is spamming content to gear out multiple classes. It would take months/weeks to actually genuinely max gear all 8 classes even if there was no loot lock out on coil or ct. That's a tremendous number of drops to get from the rng gods. All a loot lock out does is slow down vertical growth on main class and completely hamstring horizontal growth on off classes.

Thank you for this information. It is crystal clear now and at the same time disappointing that you can only get 1 loot and nothing more per week from crystal tower on one character.
