As I sit here, waiting 15 minutes for the penalty timer to expire, I wanted to share a tip for others who do runs for farming gear in WP and related dungeons - PLEASE check the gear of your teammates BEFORE running off and showing off. You and the other three teammates you queued with may have your relics and otherwise badass gear, but your healer - me - doesn't. I am sure others are in my shoes as well.
I don't care how badass you think you are. And I don't want to be carried through the bloody dungeon either. I want to play as a team.
Now the elitists WILL reply to this post and tell me I am whining and to go find a group of my own to queue up with if i want to go slow . . . news flash - the queue is for people starting off. So that response could be easily deflected right to the team of three who were so lazy they refused to find a 4th to go with them. instead they go in and keep wiping because they want to pull the ENTIRE dungeon and expect a non-geared healer to keep the tank up.
I have nothing against speed runs. But if you want to do speed runs - do what speed runners are SUPPOSED to do - go to RT, use shout, FORM your team, THEN queue. DON;T queue with a partial team! It will save YOU the headache of getting some under-geared noob (me) and save the noobs the headache of trying to keep up.
EDIT - have to reply here since post limit is reached. Apparently I am not allowed to contribute to my own thread. Anyway the POINT of this post is COMMUNICATE! I have no problem going FASTER than the norm. I just have a problem healing through a pull that aggros everything in the dungeon before the x-boss. Just communicate? Of course if you are against my post then you are indeed against communication and adjusting to the flow of your team. We may be complete strangers - but as long as we are in that dungeon, I could care less how Elite you think you are - we're still a team. Unfortunately a huge portion of the character base refuses to acknowledge that. Those folks should be off playing CoD or something.

Issue 1: Some People don't communicate in DF.
Issue 2: Some People presume everyone does a speed run, and will promptly proceed to pull everything or nuke without abandon.
Issue 3: Some People or so obsessed about doing a speed run that they can't tolerate doing things slower, even if it only (literally) means another 5-10 minutes.
The issue is the people... and for whatever reason, the 'community' seems a lot less co-operative, patient, and communicative now than they did in 1.0 -

You need to understand by that using the Duty Finder you are implicitly accepting the possibility that you may get grouped with people with vastly different skill level, gear level, play style and objectives than you. The DF queue is for everyone. The DF queue does not have an 'expectation' of who you will go with. The DF queue will be enhanced so we can specify if we want to go with ADHD people or a more 'relaxed' option. And soon mean people will be given a carrot if they behave nicely.

Who has problems with WP at this day and age?
One of the easiest dungeons.
I don't even wear my top gear for that dungeon and I'm healer.
People are tired of doing WP and crap over and over, so I'm understanding to that.
I goof off anyways and since the dungeon is easy I think it's fun trying to super heal and stuff.
Going say it anyway: Should get your own team do take it easy with you. x:

So why do you have the timer? If you have a geared group there is zero reason as the healer you shouldnt have been able to keep up ,new gear or not. In fact that should make it 100 times easier for you to heal said dungeon. And, your a scholar of all things, you should be able to breeze through that place. Your gear is very decent. Again, Im not even sure why you are complaining or upset about this. Were they trying to do a speed run without telling you? I suppose that can be tricky but as you wipe the first time just say hey, how are we doing this and go with it. Be happy you are getting carried through the place. One more thing, if I was in your party and I checked your gear I would have never thought twice about doing a clipping run through that place, its not like you are in full AF gear with level 47 rings.... your argument is invalid.

The fan base in 1.0 were the true FF gamers/fans and I will even go as far to say we are the true hard core players. With the release of 2.0 we picked up an overwhelming number of WoW players as well as recreational players, with that and the game going from more of a hard core state to the "lets make everything easy so those who can't hang can now keep up". If the game was harder like FFXI then it would not be an issue. Bring back the days of running dungeons for 2 weeks just to get one RARE drop and the player base would change drastically.Quote:

I don't think people should have the mindset of going forward with a speed run if they're queuing the last person through the DF. I joined an AK group through the DF last night and ended up with a BLM who had never done it before and a WHM without relic. You never know what you're going to get through the DF so I always assume the worst and just treat things like a normal run when queuing in DF. It's probably the reason I always choose AK over WP as well because people usually don't try to do anything out of the ordinary.

Just let them all die, and they can leave. I don't leave dungeons on idiots. I just nonchalantly continue to heal them like nothing is wrong until they rage out on me. Then I just blow it off like a cool cat, "Oh, I'm sorry. I will try harder ok, pull again". And each and every time I'll be like "Ok I got it this time, I promise", "Oh so sorry, I hit protect instead of medica, my bad". I just continue on like I'm trying and nothing is wrong until they crack and leave.
I'm close to 50 on my new character, an alt, WHM. I'm sure I'll have this same problem when I get there next week.
Tempted to just farm philo mats on my main and have someone make me a full vanya HQ set and have a friend mail it to my WHM -

There are the guys who say they never wipe with a PUG and then there are the guys who actually never wipe with a PUG. The latter is elite, while the former is not.
For all the talks about being efficient and awesome, there sure are a lot of people who don't realize that dying tends to cause the greatest amount of downtime. These guys also tend to be the ones that take a 30 seconds detour to avoid a mob that can be killed in 20 seconds and rage when you do have to fight the mob.
People seem to think elite players ought to play with surgical precision like a ninja, even though it is far safer to simply destroy everything in a methodicial manner when you're playing with players of unknown skill level. It's easy to screw up fancy moves, but even bad players generally know how to kill everything from point A to point B. Part of being elite is realizing the limitation of a group so you don't waste time doing fancy stuff. -

LOL I always assume the people in my party in the DF have no idea what they are doing. I don't care if they have full myth gear and relic +1. If they want me to pull faster after they have proven otherwise, then great. Generally, in DF parties, I'm the best geared one by far.

Honestly, if the team was as geared as you say, then there's no reason you should have had any issue. Well geared people don't take much healing.
Most people who act like idiots "showing off" are actually terrible and take tons of avoidable damage. They aren't good, and end up being carried by healers that are forced to try to heal their stupidity.
I don't care if you have a relic +1 (I have one, too)... don't stand in fire. Use defensive CDs. Stop being an idiot. You aren't saving time, you are just being a sloppy idiot that takes as much damage as a noob tank, but think it's "okay" because you're so cool in your gear.
No- you are proof that even a total failure can wear high end gear.

I have relic and still do not like speed runs and am not very good at them, usually a death or two. I make it a point to let them know I'm not great at it and they will usually opt to slow it down a bit and still get the tomes. Rather than expecting them to check your gear be proactive and let them know. :)
