Per Boss Lock vs Full Raid Lock

This is something I don't think people are taking into consideration. Loot locks will likely be on a per boss basis, as all raid lockouts tend to be, meaning you can get x pieces of gear per week for whatever class, where x is the number of bosses in the Tower.

We have been told that the Tower has 4 bosses. That means, most likely, you will be able to get 4 pieces of i80 gear per week. Fully gearing a class in i80 in 3 weeks, providing you focus all of your loot rolls for that particular class.

Is this not fast enough? Seriously?

Not really. You can run it as many times as you want until you see the item you want. Just don't roll/pass if it's not something you want/need.



Edit: My post has, for now, been shown to be wrong via translations of Famitsu. That said, people still need to step back and look at the bigger picture: We will have 3 sources of guaranteed loot progression each week in 2.1: CT, Primals, and (increased) Myth. Between these 3, we will be able to gear fairly quickly, for example:

Week 1 - CT: i80 Head, Primal: i90 Ring
Week 2 - CT: i80 Gloves, Primal: i90 Wrist, Myth: i90 Body
Week 3 - CT: i80 Feet, Primal: i90 Ear
Week 4 - CT: i80 Pants, Primal: i90 Neck, Myth: i90 Belt +Ring

Combine with the i90 weapon from extreme primal quest line, and you have ilvl 86.66 in 4 weeks, and all guaranteed to happen as long as you put in the time and effort to get the drop.

That depends on how balanced the loot tables are to be honest.

I tell you what if that is true that would make sense because CoB is 4 bosses and then you are locked out for the week. But if its 1 piece for the entire place then its stupid.
I think a DEV member needs to step in one of the many threads and give us some info.

People bitch and moan about loot locks but they also bitched and moaned in 1.0 when the armour was a rare drop you'd be lucky to get in a week

Replacing one poor loot distribution system with another poor loot distribution system does not invalidate legitimate criticism of poor loot distribution systems.

I know "instant gratification" is the new buzz word all the cool kids are using to knock on people who don't want to be slaves to RNG or incessant grinds, but you don't create a game with 7 base classes, those then having sub-classes, with even more on the way and expect people to NOT get angry when they can only get one decked out in endgame gear over a period of months. Time is finite. So is patience.

I don't like the new system either. but when people complain about one system to an extent that they create another, they still need some kind of restriction in place

Those ambiguous 'people' you're talking about usually aren't the same, for what it's worth. Every change has its detractors. Some have more. Many more.

It's also worth noting that the Tower loot lockout is yet another direct shot against the idea of having multiple jobs on one character that can be hotswapped between - the mid-range gear is locked even more aggressively than high-range gear. It's quite feasible to be hauling in more i90 gear on a weekly basis than i80 gear for alt jobs - and the best way around these gearing limitations is to instead make second characters rather than level it on your main.

I will be laughing at everyone that does this and has a different character for every class when SE releases a dungeon that plays to the armory system and has safe zones or something where you can change your job inside the dungeon, but they won't release this soon, they will wait until all of you gear up eight or so different characters, then give us content where it is to your benefit to play the game using the features they put in it. I have fond memories of going white mage with my regen set to get through poison rooms, swapping to black mage to blow up coincounter, and finally busting out monk for Miser's Mistress.

You'll be laughing, but they'll long since have stopped giving Square their money. Last laughs aren't worth much when there's nobody left to hear them.

Enough will stay, this game isn't going to die that easily, and I would be happy if everyone that comes on the forums to whine about things like loot lockouts, speed runs, and emote censoring went ahead and left, don't even play through the end of your subscription, I hear they are doing some amazing things on Candy Crush now, you should be happy there.

Being a per boss lockout would make the system enjoyable. I don't mind having to wait a few weeks to complete the slots with level 80 - but I do mind having to wait ten weeks to complete the Warrior of Light and the healer set. Two months and a half for gear that isn't BiS (as in, will get replaced as soon as I get the Coil/Myth piece) is just too much.

I think it's more likely that we will only get one piece of loot per week. That'll make the process of gearing up a little slower.

Or it might be the case that RNG prevents us from getting 4 pieces a week, since we're looking at 50 or 60 something pieces of gear for all classes.

Doesn't matter the system will have to change soon because SE doesn't think ahead. Ok you get 1 loot per week or 1 loot per boss per week. There is 6 tanks 6 healers 12 dps when all these tanks and healers get done getting their loot twice as fast as the dps(less competition) who are the rest of the dps going to group with? You think dps queues are bad now just wait till the end of the weekly reset in CT with this loot lockout.

Do not have any numbers but ill guarantee you there is 4-5 times more dps queuing then tanks/healers at least. And this is just full pugs depending on the fights in there some groups might take 1 tank or 1 healer and more dps.

Is there a source on that? Because that would be such a new system that it should stir up the community quite a lot.

I interpret the loot lockout as "you will only see each boss drop loot once per week", so if it drops something you don't want, that still counts as you having seen the boss drop loot. And that would be common practice today.

So please could you provide a source on that?

Looks like a very, very lenient loot system to me. With enough patience (and time) we could get 4 items per week (but also never more than 4), so it's possible to gear one job to iLv80 in 3 weeks. Very nice!

People with time on their hands will be farming the heck out of that place, which means each time the boss doesn't drop something they want, they've just helped the other 23 people out. Clever.

How's there less competition? We have two tanks, which share the same gear, and two healers, which share the same gear. On the other hand, we have two melee DPS, which both have unique gear, one ranged DPS, which has unique gear, and two casters which share the same gear. Sounds like there's more competition on the tank/healer side than the DPS side.

Furthermore, you're rolling between 8 members of a party, not all 24 members of the alliance. That was stated almost a month ago.

I realize there is 3 separate groups when it comes to loot. And you are only accounting for the left side of your character screen everything on the right(jewelry) is shared so no dps have more competition. But the major imbalance is the total amount of tanks and healers compared to dps queuing for instances in general. I am saying that once all the tanks/healers are done getting their loots there is going to be TONS of dps needing their ct runs with no one to go with.
