SMN Accuracy Cap- Only post if you have numbers.

Hey everyone,

I have read the myriad of posts that all disagree with one another about what exactly the SMN Accuracy cap for turn 5 is. I am a summoner currently working on turn 5 and I have the opportunity to switch between some allagans and AF pieces as it is the only class I've really been gearing.

What I would like to know is who, if anyone, has actual numbers to back up their claim that XXX is the accuracy cap for summoners. Also, is the cap for summoners and BLM's the same?

I have sat here trying to parse it out on the level 50 dummies, but I'm pretty sure that isn't the same as on Twintania.

Please refrain from posting if all you have to say is "I heard from some guy somewhere it is XXX." I'm not asking for perfection, just citation of sources... Even if it is your own personal parser.

Same for me.

As 2 other numbers:

442 was 97.5%

415 was ~70%. I didn't get a completely accurate number because I used it for 2 attempts before it was too much of a loss.


Edit: The cap for SMN and BLM is the same. That is, the player.

SMN pet has a higher accuracy cap.

Yes, it's better(and more DPS) to gear for pet accuracy.

Just thought I'd mention I've completed turn 5 twice in a row now without any issues at 400 acc using +21acc from stuffed cabbage. We usually beat it with 1 - 2 min left before the enrage timer. I would prefer to have more accuracy if the allagan pants ever drop, but there's really no issue completing the hardest content in the game with time to spare with less acc.

Also, though it's not reliable at all and I LB3 at the snake part, I usually parse the highest DPS in the group (not counting the pet).

It would be better to be closer to the ACC cap, but it's easily do-able even at ~400 acc with stuffed cabbage (+21 acc) when you don't get the drops you need from coil.

Okay then, follow-up questions:

When a dot misses, since they all run on an internal timer, do all of your dots miss? Or is it an individual dot that misses?

For that matter, is it the dot tick that can miss or is it the application?

Another thought, is it perhaps BOTH of those that can miss?

Dots cannot miss "tics" once cast on a target.

Bio and Bio II cannot miss because they do not do any initial damage on a target, neither can contagion.

I have no idea how much my pet actually misses, as there is too much going on to really tell, but for the most part despite the "excessively low" accuracy I have I hardly ever see garuda miss hitting a conflag I'm in or a dreadknight while I'm stunned and have the time to notice.

From this week, turn 1 to 5 in order at 443 accuracy. All turns seem to have the same cap, except for 2 for some odd reason. Could be rng but considering the other turns have pretty steady results it seems weird.

Yes, it's also possible to do turn 5 as a SMN with a bunch of darklight pieces on, it doesn't mean it's optimal or worth aiming for.

Thanks Seobit, this is more in the realm of the type of response I was looking for.

I do notice only 4 sets of numbers there however, so it that turns 1-4 or 2-5?

In any event, Xxarc, Seobit is right in so far as I'm not looking so much for a "Can I do this" answer as a what is most optimal one. I know I am already geared enough for T5, I'm just trying to optimize. When you have a few million gil to burn as well as myth points, no harm in doing so. :D

So if Bio and Bio II can not miss, then really you're only getting accuracy at all for, Miasma, Thunder, Fester and Garuda?

If you don't mind me asking, what is your personal dot rotation (either or both of you?).

It's turn 1, 2, 4 and 5 in that order. No data for turn 3 cause nobody cares about turn 3 lol.

There's not really any rotation for SMN, just reapply dots as they fall and use your cooldowns and abilities as they become available, or as required. Standard sequence in opener is bio 2 > miasma > bio > fester > thunder.

they miss,when i tried t1 and t2 with the new myth vest and ak head i had very low accuracy around 394 ,and all dots missed apply very often,i had to use foods to be "normal"

well for t3 the rotation is "switcast-->titan--aggro everything" :D LOL

I've never missed as a BLM on turn 5 with 434 accuracy. Now I either have the luck of the gods or someone in here is overgearing for accuracy.

what does having a pet have to do with me missing. Unless you're implying that accuracy caps are different for smn and blm then i fail to see how that statement is at all relevent.

I have a 50 smn too and have experience raiding in coil with it. Now that being said i've never taken it to turn 5 and if that is the case then i stand corrected. But it also stands to reason that garuda's spell casts would operate on the same principle as a players spell casts.

Well, reason and reality are not the same. The pet caps when the SMN has ~450 base accuracy. (not including food or anything else that might buff accuracy)

So, consider yourself corrected.

It does in the way that Garuda's cast are affected by Garuda's accuracy. The principle is the same. However, Garuda's accuracy requirements are 450 versus the SMN's ~432.

If I remember correctly, at 443 accuracy my Garuda's miss-rate was 1.8% (using logrep).

And thats why i was confused. The fact that caster and pet have 2 different caps stinks of bad design and i gave SE the benefit of the doubt.

I believe his attitude would be in response to your initial poor attitude and for asking a question that was previously answered on this very same topic. Does anyone with 450ish accuracy have a way to drop their accuracy to 445-9? Since we know Kevee's accuracy at 442 was 97.5, I'm wondering if the number for Garuda might be slightly lower. I have 433 right now myself but no i90 yet, trying to see where I'll have to meld accessories to get Garuda as close to cap as possible

I believe that's a hypothetical set. I don't think anybody has it yet. I developed the same list as a final goal to aim for some months ago.

is it really worth gearing for 450 acc instead of the 432 acc? Would staying at 432 provide more dps because we can get more crit/det instead?

I was averaging 98.9% Garuda accuracy on Twintania tonight with 446 accuracy.

From what I've read - CHR and DET's boosts on DPS are so tiny, taking Garuda up to 100% accuracy will give more DPS and is a necessary part of SMN's optimal itemization.

Interesting to know. Now I guess I have to rethink my gearing to make up for an extra 20 acc. O.O; I just find 450 to be quite a bit to aim for.

Crafted Earring/Allagan Earring
Myth Ring/Crafted Ring

Rest are non-accuracy pieces.

Last 2 mean if you use Crafted Earring, then you can use Myth/Allagan ring. If you use Allagan Earring, you need Crafted/Allagan Rings.
