If I want to power level, it's better to do it in a non boring way, hence the dungeons, so i'm pretty happy if dungeons are the new power levelling goto. Better for power levelling sub classes as well and you get loot in the process (which u don't with fates)
Not to mention people may actually learn how to play their jobs when they're in a 4 man group as opposed to the MASH BUTTONS, KILL EVERYTHING mentality that FATE's breed.
RIP FATE PARITES! Good riddance.
Now if they could only change the gil drops for lower level dungeons...:p
fate party will always exist even if its not the fastest way to lvl, because it will still be the easiest and laziest method to lvl, so quit your crying about how fate will die, not gonna happen
I totally agree. Fates should be nice incidental XP while your questing, exploring, farming or just don't feel like Dungeon crawling. Dungeons which takes more attention and skill to play makes more sense for XP grinding.
Anyone know if 2.1 will include a Gil and Seals completion reward for Dungeons too? OR do I have to grind fates still for Seal rewards lol.
Its good exp/min assuming you can clear the dungeons in a proper time. We have to keep in mind that if we made dungeons the only way to gain quick exp, we will have people complaining that they have to do dungeons which become very redundant after a few runs. Unlike fates, you can't just say,"Thanks!" and leave the party after the fate is complete. Dungeons = You must invest a solid 20-30 mins on average.
So fates will remain.
Also, fates are easier and can be a better exp/min when you have those really tough parties in DF.
I think you guys seriously underestimate the laziness of people. A lot of people are still going to defer to FATEs because they don't want to wait on queue times and would rather spam one button than have to actually coordinate within a group to grind out xp on a class.
I personally will lean towards dungeons for leveling, but by no means will FATEs just die out.
I'm glad I will finally be able to meaningfully help speed up the XP process for friends that are new to the game.
You are right, even if the XP is better in dungeons, we must calcultate it per minutes and we don't know the data yet. I would be interrested in knowing of much XP per dungeon is given away.
For exemple, with the XP Buff, a dongeons gives you 100K
For 15 min = 6.6K a minute
For 30 min = 3.3K a minute
For 60 min = 1.6K a minute
If a FATE party gives you on average 2K a minute, well it is still better FATE grinding than doing dungeons in a slow pace
what is the point to sidequests and exploring when all you do is fates. you lvl 1 class to 50 and the rest of the time sit in town. at least with Fates you go out for some fresh air.
Fates are fun and I still have not done them all yet so I like it for leveling for now...Dungeons will be a nice change of pace though to level alts with FC members and do something not so mind numbingly repetive like FATES can get...Oh...I killed that damn black sheep for the tenth time now...LOL
Good bye FATEs, the worst way to level, besides questing in history. Now give me back XP parties and mobs that can kill me solo.
This is about the only thing coming in the patch that I am looking forward to.
It will only be a short while before you all complain about how boring it is to redo the same dungeons.
Dungeons never needed more exp to begin with, you just needed more dungeons to choose from because running same dungeon 3 times makes it so boring you want to kill yourself. (Though if 3 runs in 1 dungeon gives you enough exp to reach next dungeon, which is about 2-3 levels, then all is well)
I doubt dungeons will exceed FATEs unless FATEs are nerfed. I previously tested FATE and dungeon experience rates. In the final case, I see as much as 3411/min at level 21. If Halatali takes 39 minutes, then mere equivalence requires that Halatali give 133,029 experience. Level 21 is 63,900 and level 22 is 71,400 EXP. This means that you are practically guaranteed two levels per dungeon run if the buff reaches mere equivalence. You will outlevel dungeon equipment drops before you even reach the end of the dungeon to acquire them.
//EDIT:
If they are truly trying to make dungeons competitive with FATEs... well, for Sastasha up to Halatali, 1 run will suffice -- you'll probably even have to skip one of the three. Halatali to HM should take roughly 2 runs to outlevel the dungeon. Brayflox to Stone Vigil would be three runs each. With Dzemael Darkhold and Aurum Vale, you will have to do 4 runs.
No more Dragonhead, please no more Dragonhead x(
Super happy! Maybe it'll give players a better sense on how to play their classes.
My husband will be happy with this update as he loves to dungeon grind. I didn't mind FATEs but it'll be a nice change. Though DD's might still want to grind on FATEs if they still get their xx timer on finding a party. ^^; Though if the exp is increased who knows it might take down the timers a bit.. though i doubt it.
If dungeon XP is even remotely close you'd see FATE xp go down because FATE xp is dependent on having a certain threshold of people, since the effort it takes to get gold on FATE is roughly constant but the amount of time to complete a FATE as well as its frequency depends on the number of people in the zone. I don't buy the whole 'doing dungeons makes people better' because I see plenty of guys who have no idea how to play in the dungeons, though it's good to have a change of pace. Even if the reward isn't better, I'd prefer to actually do something more than just spamming Scathe/Flash/whatever over and over.
Now I have a reaso to try and get my PLD and BLM to 50. I was bored to tears the three days it took me to get my SMN/SCH from 40 to 50
The problem is that lvling through fates doesnt let you learn your class you just button mashing. the fats xp is nice but everything else about fates suck
Tanks and healers will really benefit from this, I love tanking dungeons, so doing them is no big deal, Fates will still be usful for those who do not want to wait in the queue line.
Sounds good! Some Fate's can be really fun when it is just like 2-4 people trying to beat them.
FATEs near Aleport at level 15 are better than 2k/min. Again, you don't have to assume; I've already done the testing.
Does anyone know how much the exp will be increased by? I mean they would have to at the very least triple the exp to make it worth while.
I'm happy to hear that dungeon exp is getting a buff, since I really prefer dungeon leveling to mindlessly grinding FATEs.
That being said, you guys are delusional if you think this will kill off FATE parties. They are not nerfing FATE exp, so it'll still be fast, and there are a ton of people who will keep doing it because it's easier.
Even having the +50% bonus from rested exp makes dungeon grinding a lot faster. Double exp would be pretty good, triple exp would be completely nuts (and quite welcome) but I don't think they'll go that far.
Dungeon running is decently quick leveling when you're at the same level of the dungeon because of the chain bonus. The problem is that it really slows down when you level up once, because you lose out on a ton of chain exp then. Maybe they're not going to touch the exp gains and instead will just allow exp chaining in dungeons regardless of what level you are? That'd be pretty nice.
They may have said they won't nerf FATE exp but they sure seem to have no problem with stealth nerfing Fate spawn rates. Least that's how it seems with the latest hot fix.
