Sell shards from vendors

Why can we not just buy shards from crafting vendors?

Shards are what feeds rmt they bot and sell the shards to the crafters as the primary source of money. If you do not think so check the listing for the shards same names I report underground mining selling thousands per day. After crafting to lvl 15 I noticed I was running low on shards attempted mining and wanted to fall of a building after 2 hours, what did 2 hours produce about 30 mins worth of crafting, not worth it. selling shards from vendors would increase the number of people who craft and those who like gathering mining without bots could still sell everything else.
so why not sell shards from vendors who would this hurt beyond the botters?

RMT just have to sell them 1gil lower than NPCs.
Maybe people should boycott those retainers but… eh, people don't like thieves but are always the first to buy stolen goods for a lower price.

i don't get this OP, what difference would it make. The RMT's would just sell the shards cheaper on the AH anyway, and if you removed shards from the AH (market, whatever) then ppl would still just buy Gil from the other thousand things there are to farm. IMO the sellers shouldnt have proxys, so at least I know im buying it from a cheater.

Because you know, selling shards by npc it's a pointless move: RMT will simply jump to something else to make proficts. What's your plan then, selling every item in the game by npc ?

I'd rather share gathering nodes that are instanced to individuals with RMTs than have to compete killing mobs for fleece with a RMT bot.

Just a fore thought though, if you really want stop the sell of RMTs one step that actually would make it more difficult is maybe have something set that once (x) amount of accounts have black listed a player retainers linked to that account are pulled off the marketplace for a set amount of time or even have the account temporarily closed. Of course I'm sure the spammers and sellers are two separate accounts, but who knows, but any legit player shouldn't be getting black listed really.

I'm pretty sure shards aren't the only items that can be farmed and sold.

For this to work you'd need to take your shard idea and apply it to every item.

Well the shard market has practically tanked on my server, you can buy shards for next to nothing so who needs to buy them from an NPC? Your other option is a DoL class to shard farm. Best part is your shards are practically free ( - repair cost on gear). Sure farming your own shards is a time sink but so is crafting.

ok so the sarcasm wasnt noted...No i do not want to "fuck up the market" as you politely stated, but if one thing is fixed they will find something else to bitch about. SE said they are working on RMT botter, it doesnt happen over night, and its not like they can just press a button, this is a situation that requires something alot of gamers lack...Patience... I am guilty that i want things yesterday, and then tomorrow i will want something else two days ago, but this game is only 2 months old, RMT is a big issue, but there are other issues they are also dealing with, so we just have to be patient and hope like hell SE follows through with what they say they are going to do

what market are you on? On mine the market has nothing but names selling 3k per stack with max sales slots used and the first 200 post are all rmt names what human can farm 20 stacks of 3k in one day without botting or cheating please let me know that trick
Every other game that req something special for crafting is only sold at vendors, the whole shard system for crafting is stupid overall it just causes less crafting and motivates crafters to buy gil so they can level it.
Once again my point is about crafting shard farming kills the motivation to craft, getting 100 shard a hour is not worth the time in this game and buying them only pays the rmt's

I'm not sure vendoring shards is the best answer but shards are a broken element of crafting. They weren't meant to be ATK Mined one at a time. As grindy as 1.00 was, even the 1.00 design saw that.

Really? Maybe it has stopped me for crafting for one day, but motivating crafters to buy gil.. I guess some derps buy it, but really I don't see how any of these RMTs stay in business. It's going to take a lot more than shards before I give thieves my money.

There is a better solution than this though. Like maybe locking any account that has (x) amount of black lists, including shutting down the retainers of those accounts. But just cutting one chain of their supply and legit players too wont solve it. Levemate quests could reward more crystals too, and relevant ones as a weaver I don't need anymore freaking wind shards!!

Is that supposed to be an argument? There's plenty of recipes in the game who use npc items, even that "something special" mats you mention, like potash, coke etc, and they are obtainable only by npc.
By the way you talk about, seems like shards are the only item requested for a craft, while in reality are just a material common to every craft. But let's say they remove shards altogether: do you think rmt would be affected?
Don't you think they'll just laugh and bot something else, like button mushrooms for the common food buttons in a blanket? Silver sharks for mega-potion of str? Sandworm tooths for mega-potion of int?
Understand this: rmt are not flooding shards because it's less work. They bot, so they don't care about how much work of time they need to sell things. They sell shards only because they are the more convenient item to sell, not because they lack alternatives.

This will solve nothing....

If you make shards redundant they move onto another item.
Make that redundant, they move onto another item.

Did you forget that botting contains zero effort? They don't care where they get their gil, so long as they can bot it.

THIS IS ABOUT CRAFTING shards are a waste they are not needed, no other game has anything like this to craft you just need the mats for the item. you are on a legacy server maybe things are diff on those but on mine the ONLY people selling shards are rmt. they have the market so flooded only other rmts drive the price down. why do I need to have a host of diff shards to make a gear it is a bad system overall. selling the shards from the crafter vendors would make crafting better. The OP is def right about shards being free range for RMT. If i had my way id jsut say eliminate them completely. Then gil sellers would just have to rely on hacking for gil. or i guess fleece botting and stuff but thats insignificant compared to botting shards. I doubt rmt people are crafting 2 stars or materia farming and other than that there really is not much more ways to make gil.

RMT are an issue.
But saying shards are not needed. The game requires it. Adapt or change to a game where there is a different crafting system that you like I guess.

The only thing I think needs to be changed is some sort of cap on how many shards can be put on the market boards by one player at a time. Unlike any other farmable material, which are limited to 99 stacks, you can basically place as many shards up as you want (I saw someone with a 9000 stack of wind shards up for sale last Sunday :eek: )

I don't think shards should have strict cap, but some sort of throttle needs to be placed. I watched one player market off somewhere between 100,000 to 200,000 shards over the course of last week. They'd have 15 3k stacks of one shard time up one day, 15 3k stacks of another element the next day, and so on. That is just insane and cannot even be remotely reproduced by any other material or combination of materials due to retainer limits.

Maybe a limit of 10k shards on the market board per week as that shouldn't harm legitimate shard farmers.

SE could just simply cap the quantity field to 99 for everything stackable.

The more you post, it's more clear you don't care about rmt or the wellfare of the game, it's just a crusade against shards. Well, this have nothing to do with legacy servers: shards are part of the mats for crafting so i don't really understand your point

I love shards and crafting. It reminds me of the XI days but with a twist. Crystals have become a critical part of the lore around Final Fantasy and I think the idea of shard affinity for recipes is a great idea. Rather than start a fire my CUL can use a fire shard... and so on. Now the hot topic of RMT and shards is one that gets me worked up as I have a list of 15 new bots I have found mining / gathering notes around my server. The idea of shard sale limits is a great idea because it would slow the pace of gil accusation for RMT and choke them out. Even remove shard storage from retainers for that matter. Get rid of RMT. If your low on shards go get some pick up that hatchet or pickaxe.

Ok- Add shard to NPC.. u think this will solve? not really they will just find something else to farm to sell. The next thing u add to NPC, they find next stuff to bot, rinse and repeat. Not gonna solve at all.

Good suggestion but Apkallu, Diremites, Karakul are what's feeding them.

I make at least 20 reports a day. Yes 20 at the bare minimum. Why? Because I'd like to get my 2 stars food done, gear some of my friends/fc members up, and perhaps even profit but at 300 a pop (tonberry) I refuse to buy, and am refused the chance to farm.

Result? ............... when?

+50 shards every 10 mnts
+ 100 shard every 1 hour
