How Often Do You Use Tank Limit Break?

This is a small poll of sorts. How many of you get a chance to use the Tank limit break in a party setting?

Has your party generally agreed with the decision? If they do not agree, have you been able to convince them? Has there been any content where you've preferred Level 1 vs. Level 2 vs. Level 3 over another role using the Limit Break?

What adjustments (if any) would you like to see happen to the tank limit break?

The only time you can justify using it is before pulling a boss when you have a full bar and the bar gets emptied when you pull.

Other than that, it is never worth using.

Honestly it should be worth using more. Something like:

Rank 1: Tank receives no damage from the next attack.
Rank 2: Tank receives no damage from the next 5 attacks and each party member receives no damage from the next attack against them.
Rank 3: Party is immune to all damage for 10 seconds.

I almost suggested something to do with agro, but honestly I dont tihnk I want the ability to grab agro on all targets engaged or something like that. You don't always want to be tanking everything.

I hit it when I'm trolling my friends. Does it have any other use?

Garuda Normal mode is was useful if you had a less than stellar group, it prevented a wipe as you moved into P2.

If your group has a crappy ilevel of weapons (what the damage on SMN/BLM/DRG/MNK is based on), then its usable in Titan/Ifrit/Garuda if you are low on gear but high on skill, as it is a % damage reduction. Meaning, if you don't anticipate dying due to the boss being alive for too long, you can use the tank limit break to not wipe on a jump or hellfire or whatever garuda does. However, if you are geared, the melee limit break is almost always more useful.

Its probably under used due to over-valuation of the melee DPS limit break, but its still pretty worthless.

Tank LB not really useful, I never use it on any fight except for show off or trolling

They should extend duration of LB 3 from 10 to 20

We use it if we have it before a pull...sadly it is pretty useless lol

Use it when LB bar is about to empty anyway. Use it if you mess up the stones at story mode Garuda. That's about it.

Only way I can think to improve that situation is to make more situations in future content like that normal mode Garuda. We have DPS tests, tank/healing tests, creature control tests (like turn4) ... why not a test of the entire group's defense?

Garuda Story is the only time I knowingly used it during the transition to P2.

I could see justification for it's use anytime you have to transition from one thing or another, however the DPS LB is so much better.

Honestly Tank limit break is pretty useless, only time that it might be useful is in Ifrit and Garuda HM.

Ifrit if you pug it and didn't get all the nails down in time, it can be useful.

Garuda if too many rocks were destroyed before she uses her AOE, it can be helpful.

Other than that you will probably never ever use it.

Honestly, it wouldn't even be on my hotbars at all if I didn't have an extra slot on my gear-switching+emotes hotbar it is just that awful.

Or at least something along the lines of:
Rank 1: greatly increases Phys/Mag Defense. Something like 20 - 30% for 10 seconds
Rank 2: greatly increases Phys/Mag Defense. Something like 30 - 45% for 10 seconds (Or maybe even something like Scholar's AOE defense thingie)
Rank 3: Party-wide Hallowed Grounds :D

Especially since the current LB's for tanks is just like casting a party wide Rampart... before the Trait buff -_-

Yep, this is the the 1 time I ever used PLD limit break. Normal Garuda to protect the group during the transition. Besides that one time I've never touched it since.

We use it on turn 4, phase 6.

When I get 2 Bards in my Duty Finder group.... and there's burst damage of some kind.

Turn 4 Phase 6 just Single Target LB the Spinner. If both tanks are Paladin pop Hallowed Ground so that healers don't grab aggro from initiate threat and fall over. Kill Spinner feed 2 Bugs to the newly spawn Dreadnaught. Kill previous Dreadnaught, if heals is no sufficient have OT Kite the Knight and the Soldier.

Profit... but seriously only time I'd use it would be when Caduceus has 8-9 stack and I'm out of CDs and Hallowed Ground.

I've used it on Turn 1 before after the Split and we're DPSing both Bosses and ignoring slime spawns.

Party Makeup usually doesn't have anyone with a Single-target LB there, you really don't want the two halves to get near each other for the AoE LB, and the Healer LB is (hopefully) superfluous. Tank LB helps withstand the bosses a bit longer when they get up to 4+ stacks.

The only time I've actually used it was for S&G running dungeons with 2x bards in PUGs.

They should make it that the tank's LB would increase all party member's stats by 200% for the next 15 seconds.

That would give them more HP, defence, damage etc. especially useful in titan's heart phase.

My group actually does this too. When the 2nd dreadnought pops I do a quick threat-grab and pop Hallowed Ground. As soon as mine drops, OT pops his HG. As that is ending, I'll activate Tank LB to help keep group alive through the last bit of phase 6. Usually our biggest issue has been keeping everyone alive through the non-dreadnoughts, whether it be hate/dmg issues. Its become a guaranteed win once we are down to just the 2 dreadnoughts left.

I only know of some groups that use Tank LB on Turn 4. But in all honesty, the better geared your group becomes, the faster things die, so Tank LB is not really neccesarry. We reached the point in Turn 4 where nothing is alive at the same time with a DN except for the stuff that pops with him...so we just use a Meele LB on the last Dreadnought when everything else is dead and take of around 30ish % of his HP in one LB.

Some people like to use the LB on the Adds...but I think it's a waste.

BTW Even as a tank LB and 2 people will barely notice that you used it. I had people asking me when I trolled them "Hey aren't we suppose to have 1 LB bar when Andabroyournamesucks is almost dead?" in AK. BTW that dude died to Imminent Catastrophy trying to cast LB...

I pop it when someone drops an orb on the last pillar in AK when a catastrophe is coming.

use tank lb on garuda if we don't protect enough rocks.

as long as 3 are left, we can live through it.

we used to blow the tank limit there too..

you should try blowing the melee LB on one of the dreadnoughts sometime, instead of one guy tanking the double dreads and the other holding 2 spiders + knight + solider with a tank limit

you can just drop one of the dreads with the melee limit and feed the two spiders to the other one, same effective damage mitigation as the tank limit except it speeds the fight up too

sadly i think the same is true of any opening for a tank limit.. only 3 nails died and 1 is left standing? just use a melee limit on the last one... caduceus not dying as quickly as you'd like and stacks are high? just kill him with melee limit...

Sadly it is almost always better to explode something with a dmg limit than it is to tank limit. Almost always...

At the end of our Coil groups we split into two teams of 4 and duo Q for Ifrit. The two teams race to see who can kill it faster after killing all 4 pugs by not interrupting eruption... I like to limit snipe the dps post nails, lol.

Tank is Tank, they are not buffer or amplifier lol

It should allow you to survive things (even barely) like people doing poorly on Ifrit nails (not that that's acceptable for people to do poorly, but if a mage LB can one shot them, nearly, a tank LB should allow you to ride through the damage after, should you not have a mage.

Level 2 LB should mitigate damage taken by 30% and protect the group from Severely Damaging Attacks (80%+) for 10 seconds or until the effect is consumed.

The only place I use it consistently is after the nails are dead in HM Ifrit. After using LB3 on the nails, killing them all will build the limit back up to at least LB2 (sometimes you can get LB3) before he uses Hellfire. It mitigates a large amount of the damage, and you still have enough time to re-build back to LB3 again by the time DPS need to finish him off.

Never! Tank LB is useless! the 3rd tiered one should be the 1st tier, and 2nd tear should be like the 2hr invinceable from FFXI. And the 3rd tier should bounce your enemies own attacks back at them, as punishment for attacking at the wrong time.
