Accuracy Cap for Turn 5?

I know for turn 4 it's 472 but I think I remember seeing somewhere it's 485 for turn 5 but can't find it anywhere... does anyone know for certain?

I ask because the allagan pants dropped tonight and I WAS saving for valor, but it seems like a waste to get those now (maybe way later). But to use them, I need to gain some accuracy.

If I replace my allagan boots with valor, I'd be at 483 acc, and with HQ deviled eggs I'd be at 493. Well over the cap, but I'd gain no VIT.

On the other hand, I could get my valor helm and gain 9 vit, but this would drop me to 477 acc with hq deviled eggs.

If I got the helm, next week I'd be able to get the ring which would bring that 477 acc up to 482 with food.

So anyway, just trying to figure out what the actual hitcap is before making this decision.

One of our member ran a pars @ 472 through our coil run and it was 100% hit. I don't not take food into consideration when working on my bis. If I use food its only for either more par or more vit. Other then that I don't want to be forced to use food to only gain a marginal increase in stats.

Thanks for the advice, I decided to go with the helm, now my hp is just over 6500 in a party w food and I'm at 477 accuracy.

I can confirm it's over 480. I've had somebody in my party miss at 480 and somebody never miss at 482. So we think ACC cap for physical damage is 481 or 482, It's most likely 481 from just eyeballing a few character stats but again not 100% sure, 481 or 482.

That's quite odd because not one of our people missed @ 472 when we parsed maybe it was shear luck. I will run another test next week to verify.

A friend of mine in-game mentioned that it's only higher for the adds on twintania, not sure if that's correct or not. Now that I'm at 477 I'll update this the next time we try turn 5 and let yall know if I missed at all (on twintania). Most likely be tonight or tomorrow night.

Make sure your sample size is large enough to prove that 472 is correct.

Confused as to whether you mean Valor Cuisses (legs) and Heavy Allagan Flanchard (feet). You should be getting Valor Cuisses anyways b/c of the higher parry and acc over Allagan Legs (so you can switch in gear w/ lots of parry and little to no acc like Allagan Feet, Surcoat, Valor Gloves, etc.)

You should not be considering getting Valor feet over Allagan for any reason but vanity.

Aim for 475 acc without food and you'll be fine.

Edit: And if you're main tank you should be eating parry/vit food like La Noscean Toast and eventually Finger Sandwich.

Oh for sure I totally agree. We did the test over the entire raid 1-5. That's about 3-hrs of data of course 40mins - 1 hr is turn 1 - 4 and 5 well lol we just keep loosing. So basically 2 hrs of fighting in turn 5. I will get the guy to run it again on Monday when we raid again.

The accuracy cap rises the furthur you progress in coil. the 481/2 I mentioned before is for turn 5 which is why we call it accuracy cap because it's the highest accuracy requirement. Turns 1-4 require much less accuracy to be at 100%. I forgot the numbers exactly because after we raised our accuracy to accomodate for the new turn there was little point to lower it for previously conquered turns as we would need to raise it for the next part of the same raid.

I have missed Twintania with 472 ACC exactly. I haven't missed yet with 481 after uncountable attempts.

This makes sense sort of future proofing. I also brought this up w/ my fc as well that we should not gear for current but, future. I guess we have about 8 months to get that straight huh? :)

I am @ 477 right now and I have not missed TT but, it could just be blind luck after all we only tested that one run.

I will test some more runs. I would like to know a definitive answer for sure.

Physical DPS or Caster DPS? It's my understanding that the acc cap is lower for casters. . .

482 is the number I always hear for melee.

I've read that it's 482 for tanks (not sure if it is the same for melee DPS - DRG and MNK - however...)

There are two nearly identical best in slot sets. One involves Valor hands and valor feet, the other involves Allagan hands and Allagan feet. The difference is a trade-off between a few CRIT and a few DET. Parry remains the same at 617, and accuracy remains the same at 484.

You can use whatever combination you prefer the look of to be honest.

On topic: I MT Twin and in my current gear accuracy is at 473. I still miss. I believe the cap is 481 or 482.

Just to update, my raid group unfortunately only got about 20 minutes worth of attempts in tonight due to the early maintenance. But with 477 accuracy I didn't notice any misses on Twintania. Hopefully we'll get at least a full hour, maybe 2 tomorrow. I'll update again then.

Unrelated I felt like I was taking more damage than ever... not sure why.

Thanks for the update. It's possible that the new equip might have made you lose a good chunk of par or something or just plain rng. I have had rng screw me over in the past like when ADS Crit me 6 times back to back. I will also post my findings after our raid Monday so Tuesday will probably be the day I post the info. I will get the acc of everyone in our group and report back who missed if any miss. That way we can get a little glimpse into everyone's acc cap.

More attempts last night (for about an hour), again I noticed no misses on Twintania with 477 Accuracy.

Currently doing Twintania with exactly 480 accuracy and parsed at least 1 miss so far.

Definitely 481 or 482.

Thanks for the info. I will be posting our results soon but, if you missed @ least once @ 480 then it's most likely 482 cap. I have yet to miss w/ 477 but, we all know that could be down to sheer luck. Sort of like me having 32 back to back misses harvesting tree's w/ a 97% chance ;)

While I agree that RNG is a killer sometimes, this statement is completely untrue. No Boss in coil can crit. Go back over your logs and see for yourself. I've been doing coil every week since week 2 and have yet to see 1 single crit so that is not just RNG luck. If bosses could crit tanks would be getting 1 shot pretty much every fight

Yep, not coil boss can crit. That said, if you let your stacks get too high (even one extra for what your group is used too) it will "feel" like a crit. The damage does scale up quickly, but just cus he's hitting harder doens't actually mean its a crit. Just means you have too many stacks.


And yeah, dodging cannons makes your face hurt less.

I don't get hit by the cannons and typically do not get more then 4 stacks (tank swaps and all) but, I have seen large bold numbers pop up over my head which is typically a sign of a crit. Now I will admit that I never looked in my log but, in the past bold damage typically means crit. So if I made a mistake on that part fine then. I will look through the logs on the next fight so. While you people are out running amok. Why don't you do something a bit more proactive like find the real acc cap.

I find it funny that enough people can pay attention to a log on if a mob crits or not but, no one has any hard data on a acc cap. Please verify the acc cap so others can gear properly. Most people largely believe its 472 and not 482.

Actually most of the peopel int he thread have aggreed its above 472, somewhere near 480.

Personally I know its above 472 but am pretty sure its below what ever my total while eating la noscan toast hq is. (I have missed on pulls where I forgot to eat food first, but never on pulls where i did eat). That said, we're discussing a very low miss rate (1% or less most likely) if you are at 472.

Also, there is no firm "acc cap." Its based on the stats of the enemy, so 472/475 is the cap for turn 4, but turn 5 would have a higher cap.

More, critting in a raid like coil would make little sense. Even the best geared plds would get one shot by twin if she were to crit on a death sentence (Hitting for about 8k if it crit) or a non-crit DS followed by a crit normal hit. This would be an unpredicitable tank killing mechanic for which no reliable countermeasure could be played. (You can't possibly hope to have major mitigation for every single attack, which is what you would need).

After tanking Twin for about 8 hours total, we have never once seen DS crit on our main tank, however her auto attacks do. We have had the unfortunate displeasure of getting DS followed by a crit regular attack, but the tank was left with around 1k HP and survived the damage spike with some timely heals. This is an issue we have yet to deem a "problem", and is just a mechanic that healers need to be aware of (basically make sure heals land in between DS and a regular attack).

To contribute to the actual post, We did accuracy testing for hours while parsing, and I have seen 4 misses over a span of 4 hours with 478 accuracy. When upped to 484 for the remaining 4 hours, no misses were reported thus far. Cant help beyond that as to the actual number of "cap", and its also possible that 484 is still not enough, but after 4 hours and over 2,500 hits with no misses, I am happy to consider myself capped at that number.

Ok we did another parse last night. Our lowest member was 473 (monk) me as mt 477 and we had 100% hit rate in turn 5 (2 hrs) since we have not got the mechanics down on the twin fight.

We how ever did decide to do some goofy stuff and put one of our members down to 460 acc on turn one and they had a 3.9% miss rate. We also went back and reviewed all of the logs 87 mb of data and we did not see one crit from any of the bosses. Of course I am not totally sold yet on the no crit thing just like some are not sold on the 472 cap.

So my test results coil turn 5 473 acc 100% connect
Turn one 460 acc 3.9% miss

No boss crits.

Hopefully we can get enough data to get this hit cap locked down

Gonna agree with you here. I am not sure where people are getting the 480 numbers from. I run 475acc and I do not use acc food, I have never parsed a miss on turn 5 in God knows how many attempts. If it is above that, it is MUCH LESS than 1% chance.

I think the people saying "oh I have 48X and have missed" are not actually parsing and just assuming a miss when a combo timer runs out or something.

There's also the possibility that different classes have different accuracy caps and that certain bosses may have certain resistances and comes across as a miss.

I have parsed a miss at 478 Accuracy.

I have yet to parse a miss at 480 Accuracy, but that's only through three attempts (we usually kill in 1-2 attempts).

I've heard that only Asclepius has an increased Accuracy cap and that the cap on Twintania (and Hygeia, Dreadknights and Conflagurations) is actually quite low. I can't confirm or deny this. If we could also keep track of where the misses are occurring, that would help a lot.

Acc cap is different for tanks than dps....

I've heard a few theories that could support why some people miss and some don't. Accuracy caps differ between each type of class, and there's been the suggestion that the hit chance is capped is 95%. I've no idea if the 95% cap is true or not as there's a lot of debate about it in other forums.

If hit chance is capped at 95% you'd see on average several misses each ATTEMPT. It might be capped, but if so it's capped higher.

Yea I have seen the same theory of a possible % miss regardless of acc. I only play tank on twin so I can only speak as a tank. As far as melee dps the monk... well he never misses and floats around 478 right now. I never miss but, I am @ the highest theoretical cap atm. When I switch over to warrior from pld my warrior only had 472 and he never missed as well.

Either way some people are recording misses @ 500+ and that's where the theory of a possible miss %. Either way there is no solid numbers. As it currently stands we try to gear for 475 or so.

Wow I'm surprised this is still going. I need to know these things because I'm still debating what matters to slot on on my gryphon rings. I'm floating around 475 atm, but I'm still getting rid of my i70 accessories. So I'm not sure how high I need to be to safely get through t5, though I still have a while since I'm just now starting to do coil

There was some discussion on the DPS forums that leaned towards "attacking the mobs from different sides has different acc thresholds".

Currently the thought is that 100% acc from the rear or from spells (omnidirectional) is 435 acc. Acc from the flank is 458. Acc from the front is >476-ish (maybe 481). This applies to all mobs in Coil.

The reason why people think snakes have higher acc being that people spend a lot of time attacking them from the front compared to Twintania.


Also, keep in mind that certain parsers will record a "miss" if you attack into an invuln target on a phase transition, or if an AOE attack "misses" on a target that disappears or other odd situations. You should check which attack actually missed to ensure it was a "legit" miss in between a lot of landed attacks.

I've parsed a miss when I was at 536 accuracy on my PLD in Turn 5. I don't think that means the acc cap is above that. What it probably means is that once you hit around 472 acc, you have a 99.99% chance to hit. (The game might not let you get 100% accuracy)

Ever since then I've been running with 475 acc and I a 100% hit rate so far (for over a month).
