Am I the only one who has a slow speed downloading the patch?
it probably will stay slow until the servers have been back online for a few hours. Due to the torrent setup for the patcher, not many people that far through the download yet i'd think.
plus it sucks anyways.
Slow as per SE usual when a patch first drops.
Nope, SE patcher fails hard.
nope you are not the only one. have been bouncing between 500kps to 5bps with between a bunch of local and 0-40 remote connections. i love this patcher </sarc>
Why do we have to go and to this every time there a update? i download each update in about 10-15min right when it goes live am downloading it.
Open your ports
What are the ports we have to open?
no you're not the only one don't worry, i'm currently nerd-raging how SE/anyone can justify the patcher uploading at 500kbp/s but downloading at 5.0kbp/s :@
Mine was slow to 30%, said like 7hours. Then went to 10min and finished off quick.
Maybe it's a joke if not then

We have this discussion every...single...time...there's a patch, and sometimes even between the patches. Search is a wonderful invention, my friend. ;)

But the suggestions mentioned are definitely steps you should take, especially going to this site:
They don't have instructions for FFXIV, but you can follow the steps for FFXI and just replace the ports they use with the ones mentioned earlier.
It's alaways slow for me.
Is anyone else finding it not possible to download this through utorrent?
Also i've had my ports open for months but the patcher still takes forever. Se really needs to do something about how bad it is.
Start--> CMD--> ipconfig---> type the first set of numbers in to your internet "Example= 192.168.1.68 ---> go to the website look up the modem you using and learn how to port. Forwarding your ports can help for lot's of things like
downloading faster
Less lag in FFXIV less d/c due to internet packet lost
and many other reason but if you don't want to learn or youtube it then i guess you wait 1+hours to download a small patch.
Can't download through utorrent anymore either, and I'm lucky if I get 500b/s after opening ports with SE patcher....
yea i have 40mb connection from qwest and my ports forwarded and its still slow
Smooth as a bell for me. Downloaded in no time at all.
SE Fix your crappy patcher! You say you got members on your team from EQ2? Those guys know how a patcher should run! Been going half an hour and haven't even gotten to 1%. I don't think I'll ever be paying monthly payments for this disappointing product. Hang your heads in shame SE!
Funny, I thought most of you guys said there wasn't anything wrong with the patcher in the last thread.
its sad that in the end had to rely on a torrent prog to patch the game
and lol kurokikaze
idownloaded in like 8 mins...... now if only i cudd play
I <3 third parties
Just in case you all didn't get to see it enough already:

put it on HD and repeat for a few hours. Come back and check it. Its just like the real thing!
Ok trying to use torrent DL for first time (THANKS FOR NOTHING SE). how the hell do i install it when it finishes?
WOW! Thanks! It took me a while to figure out how to do this, I kept setting up a virtual server.... But once I opened these ports, I've averaged a consistant 200KBs. It went from like 6 local connections to 10 and started connecting to 8 remote connections. I'm not sure what all that means, but it's SO MUCH FASTER!
Damn useless SE programmers sooo slow. At 9 percent been going for 2 hours, torrent will be done in half hour but i have no idea what to do with the file!

:) I shall remember this for in the future!
Edit: Finished!
I was inspired.
