Why is the patch/update system -still- broken?

I've played well over 20 MMOs and online games and every single one has had a patch or update system that has worked decently.

FFXIV's still doesn't work. Its like a random rollercoaster ride, sometimes hitting 300+kb/s and other times staying at 0 kb/s for 20min+.
It's never clear whats going on, it randomly freezes at certain values for long periods of time, and even trying to download via torrent is often slow.

Now I'm sure there are lots of techhy ways to fix the problems, but this is an MMO.... not a geekfest. If an MMO can't even have a functional update system then how can it expect to compete.

I seriously hope SE fixes this problem before they release the game on PS3 and have a new marketing campaign.

ill be downloading fine for 1 minute. then it will go to 0. and stay at 0. and then randomly go back to 300kb/s for a min. then back to 0for 20 min. and sometimes it never goes off 0, i have to close and reopen to get it going again. P2P on all other games has been perfectly fine to me. I have a feeling this is a problem cuz im in Canada or something.

im uploading at 40kb/s and downloading a 0kb/s.... for the past two or so hours lol.

Yea mine says it requires 2 more hours -.- does the old way of doing things not work anymore, where I download the patch through a torrent? I can't find the patch file in my FFXIV folder anymore what gives? this is taking forever.

its not natural of any p2p. The actual p2p system is broken. You should never be getting 0 for hours while uploading on a GAME UPDATE.

I have to disagree. is not broken, just not STABLE. that the proper word for it. if it's BROKEN, i too will get 0 for hours. but i do not.
