Things that NEED to happen

This is not bashing a game by any means, as a matter of fact I'm trying to contribute to making it the best MMO there is. Following are only the suggestions that would make the life in game and forums more easier (I'm not even going to mention that I had to wait until level 25 to make a thread and that my post was too long so I had to reduce it to 1000 characters). So it seems that my only option is to list the suggestions due to character limit. Thanks SquareEnix!

• Give us an option to ignore the player in chat (right click, ignore).
• Let us preview and compare the gear.
• Allow us to talk to NPCs while mounted.
• Auto-dismount when casting a spell.
• Let us stay in channel unless specified otherwise (/fc for example). Also remove case sensitivity on slash commands.
• Remove these ridiculous forum restrictions.

There was a lot more suggestions in OP including elaboration on each subject but it simply doesn't fit.

ignore wont fix the problem, a /report and /blist would be better.
This would be nice, but it is not NEEDED
There is no need for NPC chat or auto dismount, just get off your chocobo

You can edit post to get around limit, but I agree it's pretty pointless.

The suggestions are not bad and already been discussed. However I would say they are QoL changes, not Needed.

I would check out the very very long quality of life suggestions thread.

It probably is too long to read through it all, but that is definitely the place to post for most of the things like this.

Most of your points have been brought up there, and some have been commented on by devs already.

Regarding longer posts, your best bet is to create a stub post of 10 characters (minimum limit), and then edit to paste in the full post. Be warned though: you only have 5 posts a day until you hit level 40, then it is 10, and the max is 20 when you hit 50.

That doesn't solve the whole "You can only post so many times in one day."

What really needs to happen is a fix for this.

Many are QoL.

On that note, there is a way to lock into a particular chat. ie FC /fc [enter] every time you start chat it will start in fc chat, and requires a / command to move to a different one temporarily. if you /p [enter] it will change it to party chat and lock it there. I assume it works on the various linkshell chats as well, but I've not personally tried.

I'm trying to understand why people are saying "these are just quality of life changes" insinuating that such changes aren't important for a game's longevity. When you implement things that improve quality of life, the game's quality goes up due to people enjoying their time playing more. It isn't fun to fumble around just to speak with an NPC or attack a monster. Sure, it's just one additional button press, but it's still annoying.

Just type in the chatbox
/fc
and hit enter, and it'll default to that. Works for everything except /shout and /yell, from what I've seen.

No, it's that they're not needed. No one is saying that they might not desirable or that having desirable things isn't good for the long-term health of the game.

IMO, too many people post on these forums insisting that their own personal wishlist must be satisfied or else the game will fail (That's what it means for a change to be "needed"). Perhaps there are some changes like that, but (IMO) the OP's list doesn't contain them.

invisible Gathering/teleport bots are now unclickable so these **** cant be reported.

I have no intention of quitting the game whatsoever nor am I implying that the game is failing but most of the suggested things would make the game more enjoyable.

If you type in /fc 'enter'. This will make your default chat fc chat until you change it again.
Example:
/ls1 - Makes LS1 chat default chat.
/fc - makes fc chat default chat.
/s - makes say default chat

You must do "[chat like above]" followed by "Enter" key to change the chats.

I agree with all these. The thing about the chat thing is you can't stay in /sh at all. This should be fixed. It's still crazy that we can't default /sh.

The forum thing, I understand because of trolling low level alts (I saw them all the time on the WoW forums for instance). However I think the restrictions should be lifted once you reach lv 50. You shouldn't have a posting limit, IMO.

They should change it so the weekly tome cap is either toned down to allow more runs per week, or to be specific to your characters class.

I'm going to have to disagree on the talking to npc's while mounted. NPC's can already get crowded in some areas. Add everyone's mount, with behemoth barding and what have you, and there would be no way to see the npc.

Talking to npc's while mounted should never happen.

This. Even worse is when almost everyone is already running on Magiteks.

Also, mounting is already too convenient. When I attuned for Garuda, at one point I had at least five Ixali following me, and they couldn't do a thing. I didn't even tried to avoid them - just run until they leash back.

Agree with the rest, though. Also, I'd like a cross-world blist, to avoid all the grievers and quitters.

The first two are actually coming in 2.1 if I recall correctly. You already can do the 5th. They have no desire to change the 6th because it makes their moderation duties a bit easier. There's been no mention of 3 and 4 but I for one would like 4 because I mainly play casters.

If they don't cater to what a large, if not huge, amount of their player base wants, their game will fail and they'll lose tons of money and credit for it.

That's what the blist is for. If it's a /tell, type /blist add <r>. You can even macro it. If it's in shout, highlight the name, then ctrl-c, then /blist add ctrl-v.

No. It would block the NPC. The translation for "it would break immersion" is really "certain types of players would be jerks and would deliberately stand on the NPC while mounted to block other players from using it."

Why can't you just click the 'Mount' button, then immediately cast a spell? Is that one extra button just that inconvenient when grinding FATE? That is the reason, isn't it? So that you can tag a FATE mob a little bit faster?

Clicking that little speech bubble and selecting a different chat channel isn't that hard. Also, are you running around with caps-lock on or something? That's the only thing I can think of for the latter being an issue.

They can add collision then? You can enter the house with dismounting anyway and go through mobs so people already can do what you just said.

Isn't that the reason why 1.0 failed? Feedback not coming to the developers? If they want the game to be successful they should listen to their paying playerbase, not limit it.

Oh please no... I don't need someone pushing me away from an NPC, nor do I need to not be able to access it because there's a wall of people I can't get through to actually click on the NPC.

I think the better solution would be talking to an NPC auto-dismounts you. Less button clicks for you, no NPCs blocked by gigantic mounts for us.

They have been listening to their player base a fair amount, which is where a lot of the changes in 2.1 are coming from (I like to think). The player base doesn't always agree with what should or shouldn't be added. I will agree with you on the forum restrictions being a bit much though.

They do listen to and respond to the player base, and the tech support thread has fewer restrictions for obvious reasons.

As for responding to ideas and complaints they do quite well. They haven't responded to everything, and they try to not respond to issues until they have a good developer response.

The forum restrictions are more about spam and forum moderation: notice there isn't any spam. By using the game as the baseline, generic spam is eliminated, as well as a lot of general forum problems. I do agree the restrictions are a bit overly tight right now, but they shouldn't remove them altogether. They probably could lessen them at the least however, on that I definitely agree. The 5, 10, 20 thing especially annoys me whenever I have to switch my main character just to post. If I have a character at 40/50, why does it matter if it isn't my main when I want to post more than 5? The 1000 limitation... I honestly don't see the point since it is only on first post, and you can edit to the length you desire, and apparently they have no objections to this.

They didn't directly respond to 4 yet, but yes in fact they did respond to 3 on the quality of life thread I pointed to before. Which I pointed to because most of these types of ideas have been brought up there, and the community reps have in fact passed them on to the devs. With or without a response to individual ideas, the fact is these ideas are being passed on to the developers. They aren't simply being ignored.

But note: they did not say outright "no". Just "we'd like to look into this carefully" which is a good answer because if they do it, they will want to do it right.

yeah... the fact that the gear compare we have only compares the base P. Def. and M. Def and none of the actual stats is annoying to say the absolute least ( preview I could take or leave, the icons are pretty close to exactly what the item will look like, unlike WoW where they could look WILDLY different)

and auto dismount would be wonderful, don't know why it wasn't already in.

they're hardly needs, they're kinda lame excuses of wants really... one or two are probably good ideas rest are so irrelevant and i think they have more important things to worry about lol

I was talking about NPC collision, not player collision. Players would be able to go through each other but not through NPCs, therefore no one could block the NPC and everyone could access it.

They already do, for NPC-to-NPC collisions. However, including players would cause problems with combat as 'mobs' are considered NPCs by the game. They'd have to adjust that.

Clicking a button isn't hard. You have to click it anyway to mount. I'd rather they focused on getting new content ready and adjusting real issues rather than spending too much time on something this minor.
