FFXIV Jobs clarification.

This is what jobs will be like

A lot of you seem to think of the upcoming jobs as the way they are in FFXI. You get you Gladiator to level 30 and then you quest to unlock Paladin.

I read something different. To me it looks like jobs are Talent trees/specs for the current classes.

Below is a video of the mage class and it's 8 specializations(jobs) in Rift.

Now I'm not trying to promote that game but i think this video illustrates well what i think SE is trying to do with Jobs in FFXIV. Granted that conjurer probably won't have 8 jobs to chose from... at least not any time soon but the general idea is well demonstrated.

Anyone else thinks this is what SE is doing?

I looked at it, but never played. The images look confusing but....

Did you have to level up a combination of jobs to get a new job?

I really hope is not like rift....

I have not played that crappy game, but a friend of mine who did, told me that when you lv 1 job/class automatically you lv up all the classes in your tree...so cap 1 class and you have like 8 classes capped LOL.... --;

thats the most stupid thing SE can do.... i wanna use/feel/learn my jobs...i dont wanna a damn lvup button in the game..

pls SE keep this crap away from FFXIV...

If they can apply the same terminology, but don't level up all the other jobs within that Class, then thats fine

So you guys a saying its gonna be like how Disgaea works?

Like to unlock the Shrine maiden you need LV35 Fighter + Archer, Gunner would require L15 Skull + Thief.

Yes. I was implying that jobs would be specializations within the same class just as in the video pyromancer and elementalist are both MAGE Specializations/jobs. I wasn't implying that they would use the same system and level all jobs along your class like Rift.

It would sure be interesting but i highly doubt it. it's going to be more like, to unlock paladin you do a quest with gladiator once you reach a certain level and you do a different quest with gladiator to unlock dark knight. I don't think other class will play any role into unlocking jobs associated with other classes then itself.

But i do like the FF tactics/disgea way of having to level multiple classes/jobs to unlock certain jobs. I suggested exactly that months ago but i think SE wants to keep it simple for now. Maybe future jobs will require more work.

There are four jobs in that game, each with 8 specialties, plus a 9th for pvp if I remember correctly. It's a cool system but yeah, the game as a whole is junk as someone else put it.

You get the specialties simply by completing quests. Forgot to add that part ><

I'm no fan of rift, but I do like how their tree system works. You can take thf and have a near limitless combination, Like rogue. You can be a teleporting sniper, or a bard assassin, Heck a bard sniper XD. Pretty much as you level you choose to unlock a certain spec tree. This can define classes, but also allow customization. which I'm all for. I really do not want to see cookie cutting in ffxiv. I wanted to play hoping it would not happen.
