[Event Suggestion] Upcoming October Event {event_name}

Heya!

I've just got an idea for an event that could be held the next October.
I don't have a Final Fantasy name for this event, but for now I'll refer it as:

OKTOBERFEST

This event will be a celebration of 1 year of Final Fantasy XIV, where we can have fun with our best internet friends and pals, to share virtual thoughts and of course, getting virtually drunk.

PLACE
The idea came when I was going to fight Goldfinger (Kokoroon Quickfingers), when I came across this:

and then I said myself "This is the perfect place for a drunk fest.", and then the thought about Oktoberfest came in my mind.

WHAT TO DO
I was thinking about doing some quests from the NPCs around there that will spawn the day of the event. Maybe finding the son of a drunken old geezer, or manage to make a man and a woman fall in love, where you can choose to use the booze or to just use words, and so on, and so forth.

There'll be a stand where you can buy the ale from an NPC, and then sit on a chair with your friends where you can START A CHALLENGE!

I was thinking about a game challenge where you first have to select a drink, which would be from the lesser alcoholic to the most alcoholic beverage, and both will do the challenge with the same drink, of course.
The challenge would be made in two modes: UI interaction (like gathering) or real time interaction.
Both the players will have to bet on something, that could be an object or money. The winner gets the spoils.
I'll explain UI interaction first.


UI Interaction

In this there is a time limit. After the time goes up, the one who has drunk the most wins.

The Drink Button
In this minigame, I thought of a system like the Mining one (which can be changed with anything else. I just want to give the idea) where you have to center a circle inside the graph instead of going with the cold&hot game. Once you hit the circle with the borders of the circle that will grow and reduce by the size of the graphic, you'll be able to drink.
Drinking will do a few things:
- Augment your drinks count;
- Augment your Drunk Vision (see all blurry and sh*tty like when you're drunk)
- Reduce the size of the circle to hit

The turn of who will drink first will be given casually.

If you Miss the circle, you'll not be able to drink, and your Drunk Vision will remain the same.

The Wait button

If your vision is getting too blurry that you can't really see sh*t, you can simply wait, passing the turn to your opponent. By doing this, your drunk vision will reduce, and you'll maybe be able to hit the circle.

The Surrender Button

By pressing this button you will simply lose and give the victory to your opponent.


Real Time Interaction

I don't have screens on how to explain this, so I'll use only words.
When you start the challenge, you'll see your opponent's face and viceversa. When you start drinking, your visual will get blurry and blurry drink after drink, and your head will move around and go down (on the sides of the screen, there'll be a red light). To contrast this, you must keep looking at your opponent with the right analog of the gamepad, or the right-click & move of the Mouse. When you have your head focused on the challenger (you'll see a green light on the sides of the screen), you'll be able to press the action button (or the Autorun button for the Gamepad players and Left-click for the K&M Players, in order to promote comfort) and drink more.
Remember that the more you drink, the more your visual will get crazy. If your head falls down to the table, you'll lose. If the opponent's does, you'll win.

OTHER PRIZES
You can achieve other prizes by doing the minigame. If you win enough times, you can obtain objects like Consumables, Accessories or even Weapons.
An Accessory I was thinking of, is the Mug. You'll equip it in the Waist Slot.
For the DoW&M, The more monsters you kill, the more your vision gets drunk, the more EXP/SP bonus you'll get, like 0.6% after every monster killed. For the DoH the more you craft, and for the DoL the more you gather things.


That's pretty much all I have in mind for now.

Very original idea, it sounds fun and challenging too. I see that happening in the miner's guild too, haha!
In October it is the Harvest festival I think (just like FFXI -- been so long)?

Darn, I forgot the most important parts!

You can also drink alone the ale, and you'll get a drunk vision for how many mugs you'll drink.

Talking about the minigame, when you're finished with your opponent, either if you've won or lost, you'll have the same drunk vision as you had in the minigame.

this sounds like a funny idea lol. i like it. but it doesn't seem like something that the dev team would go for. just because that would be more of a western type deal. but def like it, not hating lol.

I like it. And ffxi harvest fest was more halloween styled. I wouldn't mind both and for a japanese flare we can use warm sake.

Only if we also get some Roegadyn sausage (bratwurst) along with that. Beer and brats, THE combination.

Honestly, i'm kinda hoping for some crazy undead halloween stuff.

Pff... Halloween is for scary things.

Well, since we can get drunk in many MMO, it wouldn't be impossible the devs add it too (you know, competition is tough).

As per the norm, Renshi doesn't cease to amaze and terrify me. This is a pretty rokkin' idea that I can definitely stand behind, and fall over.

After a long year in Eorzea, I would love to sit down, have a drink and reminisce with my LS (oh they all quit) or with any random gang, about our crazy tales.

Also though, we need to add in some kind of arm wrestling mini-game, you know, for the kids, the ones who can't drink.

Is there anything to this idea which doesn't relate to getting drunk?

I don't think it'd score as a great hit in SE's eyes. Now, admittedly, most real festivals usually end up being drunkard parties, but they always have an underlying subject for celebration.

Well, Oktoberfest is all about drinking, dancing, have fun with your friends, drinking,... uh... have fun, drinking, interactions with cool stuff, dancing and getting drunk.
Just to get the idea: Oktoberfest

So, it's not everything about getting drunk.

In Illinois there is a steam engine festival every year up in jacksonville. In the field behind the traction engines their is always a big flea market where you can buy anything you could dream of.

So what if the market wards were moved outside for 1-3 days at the Eorzea Oktoberfest?

I find that idea Awesome! Flea markets while you drink, Buy sweeties when you're drunk and play minigames to have some fun!

When you get drunk do you hear things wrong, like if someone said to you "Ill sell this Lantern Shield for 50,000 Gil " it would translate to "Illds shell those thantern Seld for 50,000 Gillow "?
Ive never been drunk so I don't know if that would be accurate.

When I get like the Drunk effect, I tend to forget what people tell me and understand a thing with another. That might be actually cool =)

Man, I like Feldschlösschen.

I'd like to join in on that. Hopefully we lalafel don't get denied because we don't look the age. D: I is a sad lalafel if so.

Hey come on, this ain't no pussy festival of zombies and undeads.

And besides, you can change from Wizard to High Wizard with this festival, and little kids can drink unalcoholic beverage. But since you ain't no kid, rock out that mug!

First they will have to implement getting drunk...
