Okay, I have a huge beef with the way the restrictions are done for the World transfer.
By no fault of the loyal players trying to actually play the game, some may have chosen to create their characters on Legacy server and some created their characters on a different data center (on the JP or EU or even NA servers) believing that once the world transfer comes along they can right the wrong by getting back to the servers their friends or other characters are situated. But thanks to SEs restrictions, this is not the case has hoped.
So my petition is this, if you're concerned with the economy so much, make it so that Legacy "characters" (not new characters stuck on legacy servers) face a steeper penalty if they choose to migrate to a newer server such as they can not take with them any gear that isn't spirit bound like someone suggested (that idea isn't my own) so they can not sell it back on other markets and restrict them from bringing crafting materials or something of that sort. Also reduce the amount of gil that can transfer to maybe 1mil gil for the character and 500gil for retainers (again this is an idea I picked up in the forums and thought it was a good suggestion).
Find away to allow characters to change data centers so we don't have to start all over again.
It's not fair to anyone that first, we were unable to choose the world we wished to play on and then punished just because we had no choice in picking that world due to character creation restrictions or servers being too full to let players join their friends.
If anyone other there feel the same please sign this thread and hope that SE will respond kindly to this thread.

They did say in an interview before launch that server transfer from Legacy would be no sooner than six months.

Setting caps would defiantly allow us to move; there's no reason we shouldn't be able to.
And to the "6 month" thing, some of us don't get to spend hours pouring over tiny details. Especially with so many F'ups & official reports coming out constantly. I'll take blame for not being informed though.
However! These threads are coming out left and right & I am AMAZED at how nothing's been done!
It's pretty apparent that not only I, but MANY others must have missed the memo about world transfers waaaay back.
If they would just POST something saying "here's why, sry, & we're working on it.." anything. Instead, they ignore the elephant in the room.
That didn't work so well in 1.0, and it's not going to work here. Hell even some ppl tired of the game might feel revived enough to carry on if they could actually play with friends. Friends who they convinced to buy the gd game in the first place. -

There is a reason why its "characters on a legacy server" instead of "legacy characters". That is because of the increased amount of gil on the legacy servers from 1.0 days. Even if your not a legacy character you can still amass gil from the legacy players. If your on a legacy server then enjoy the ride, SE said the legacy restrictions from the beginning

Wrong. Not all players just piddle around. Some actually make gil. You can't put restrictions on 1 person and make exceptions for another. If you wanted to you could just make a new account and trade all your gil to this 'non legacy' character and move to a non legacy server with millions of gil. Its all or nothing.

Even if SE removed all gil from a player when they moved off it doesn't stop them from spending it beforehand on endgame sellable items before they transfer. It would just be too inefficient to have to investigate each and every player that wants to transfer off.

As far as I'm concerned there are way more pressing issues to fix than changing their policy on server transfers. Like teleport hacks, and exploits to get lv50 crafters instantly. Would I think there is a way to deal with the transfer issues. Yes, I'm sure there is. But I dare say its not high on the to do list.

A. Keep your progress you made on the old server and stay on the old server = cake
B. Reroll on a new server like everyone else on the new server = eat it

After watching me play (and creating her own character on my account), my daughter decided to purchase the game so that we could play together.

Excalibur remained closed since launch and only recently has sporadically been opened for new characters.

SE announces World Transfers but lists Excalibur as FULL and probably will not allow transfers.
As a Legacy, I cannot join her on Cactuar. (which is also listed as a full world anyway)
So what are we to do now? Are we both supposed to apply to a different Legacy World and hope & pray that we both get in? (even though all the Legacy Worlds are pretty much full). or go with your solution that we just throw out the cake and we both reroll on a low population server?
Sorry for the rant but it has been and still is very frustrating. -

I understand that people were desperate to create a character on any server but most people, deny it though they will, knew that they couldn't freely transfer from legacy to non-legacy. If you created a character on a legacy server, you knew what you were doing.
To be honest, if you created a char on different servers at all, you knew the risk. It's very nice of SE to allow server transfers like this, since it was their "fault".
However, yeah, transferring between data centers, even if a special one-time process, should be designed and permitted. (Make the application, and a dev does it manually sort of thing, even if they never offer such a service again). -

We are all thrown god knows where, and the ones that managed to be together will then be split from their assured world/friends/and FC to come to me. Not to mention I was unwillingly placed on a JP legacy with odd maint. hrs and no one uses auto-translate. So NOW I have to move to one of 2 possible US Legacy servers that are already crowded, OR risk being a rare US player on a JP server with little options for who knows how long. So Now All My Tons Of Friends Have To Follow Me Off Of My Server To a Risky US Server Which Will Likely Be Full. That Means Some Of Us Will Get To Transfer To Our Legacy Server, Others Will Likely Be Placed On a World SE Is FORCED To Create Because It's So SCREWY In the FIRST place... No, see, maybe you aren't trying to dominate a market, but there are plenty of people in mmo's who enjoy just that, and enjoy it very much more when they got a headstart on the competition. I have read the other threads, and sympathize a little with folks in the honest position of just rolled on the first server that would let them (that's how a lot of NA's ended up on JP servers). That's why SE said no legacy transfers ahead of time.
I have a level 49 on Ridill with I think a craft leveled and a few subs leveled. I would have loved to plop him right over on the server where all my friends play. Don't assume that because I'm not upset, it doesn't affect me.
MOST of this is a few people who simply ignored what legacy meant, did what they wanted and then were upset when SE stuck to their guns on transfer policy. -
