How is the Market on your NA server doing?

Hey all. I
m on the Faerie server and though I haven't started to dive into the market too deep yet, it seems like it doesn't have much going on right now with item availability. I would think this would have to do with population as well as the game being as new as it is but I wanted to ask how the Market is on other NA servers as in do items sell fast, good amounts of Gil, and can you find most things on it. My FC may be looking into a server transfer and biggest thing I care about is the Market so please let me know. Thanks.

Behemoth's market has its ups and downs. There is never a shortage of materials, but there is plenty of competition. I've had no problems making a profit selling goods though.

Edit: Best profits are driven by niche markets until you're able to make endgame gear.

for the first few weeks I was able to take advantage of multiple price gaps in the market. Nowadays it's harder to find stuff that can be bought and resold. So the market has become relatively stable on my server now. I can still find some things, but no where near as much as I used to, and not for as large of a price gap either, and it'll only get tighter as the market ages.

It is currently very hard to get anything to sell on Goblin at the moment. Due to when I do put something up, someone always undercuts me. There are several items listed at 1gil. How can one make any profit at that. @_@ This system drives me nuts lots of days.

Can always find something worth making/farming and selling. These days I'm mainly doing HQ tools, which sell well at 7.5k.

I am on Famfrit and the markets are very screwy. I know everyone wants to make money, but I'm having trouble understanding why Why WHY people are selling higher level harvested/mined goods at lower prices than lower level goods? Doesn't that defeat the purpose of the HIGHER level? I saw level 40 harvested item X selling for 5 gil each, then saw level 5 harvested item Y for 50 gil!! How is that right? I busted my butt to make lvl 38 on my botanist only to be rewarded by ppl selling items WAY below what (I believe) they are worth! I love the free market system and believe it balances things overall, but not when ppl are just plain ridiculous. And as far as going in and buying all the 1-10 gil items out, don't forget that there is tax on EVERYTHING, so those items you buy to "corner" the market, sometimes come back to bite you. And currently, there just isn't enough room in EITHER of my retainers, my inventory and the FC chest WITH 3 pages.

Ultros doesn't look good. I have been selling fleece. Sticking up one lot of x amount at a time instead of heaps of stacks. Making a nice profit but boy do undercutters move fast. ten minutes later after me making money, all the prices of the other stacks shift. They don't waste time.

But Flax, 99g for 99. Dyes 99g for 99 etc. It's like that across everything.
Even Botany unspoiled nodes items are selling for cheap. My Botanist is 48, i don't even see the point of getting it to 50.

Well those flax were soon bought up and put back on for a higher price.

Would be better if severe undercutting wasn't so rampant. Seems like I can't list an item anymore without the price crashing 15 minutes later.

Its called supply and demand. Low level mats are no longer being farmed to meet demands and high level mats are being over produced of what is demanded. Its very simple.

Yes, and they are willing to sell it for that price in order to do so.

Gilgamesh is doing alright, I guess. I can sell most ilvl50 Goldsmith crafts for around 5k or so, assuming they're HQ. The ilvl55 stuff goes for upwards of 18k HQ, and they're not too bad. What really killed my personal market was the tome drops in WP. I was making a killing off of Bloody Grimoire Bindings, and the Erudite Picatrixes I could make with them--upwards of 40k for the bindings and 60k for the Scholar weapon. Now? Bindings are sometimes selling for less than their vendor amount, and the SCH/SUM pre-relics are selling for less than 10k.

I should've expected it, so I really have no one to blame but myself, but it still sucks. I really wish people would stop undercutting so much. Is it so hard to realize that if there is a demand for a good, it will sell? The moment you drop the current price of 10,000gil to 5,000gil you essentially cheated yourself out of 5,000gil. And for what? A quick sale? Screw that.

The point is that they are playing dirty, cause they are losing money to sell fast while stoping the sales of everyone else, and thats the doom of the free market system.

Even tough you can flip the market, in this game that wont do, cause in 5 min someone will be undercutting again...

This game economy needs a controled market, it cant be that everyday each hour of farming is worth less and less.

There has not been a controlled market in any MMO since the dawn of MMOs because their has never been an MMO that has RATIONED out everything in the game to every single player or controlled the number of each type of class created and their professions. No one wants to play a game where the instant you join you must be this class and this profession or the market of this game will be out of sync. This is the simplified reply to the community members who seem to think a MMO can somehow have controlled markets or even a small degree of it. Even if you ration all the items and allowed everyone to choose what they wanted to be, the varying number of classes and professions will still cause the RATIONED number of items to vary in price. This occurs vice-versa if classes or professions were controlled as well. This is all caused by supply and demand.

This has been discussed to the ground since the dawn of MMOs. If you have played MMOs long enough, you will know this very well.

They aren't playing dirty. For some reason your expectations of price aren't justified by the market. You are the one out of synch. Others are willing to satisfy the market at a lower price point. I'm not sure how your entitlement attitude somehow invalidates the practical function of the market.

To be fair, while I understand a persons need to undercut a certain item in order to have their item appear first on their list before other people. But when an item goes from 4k to about 1.5k because people are constantly undercutting, I think there might be a small problem.

People are undercutting because they are getting the mats to level up and want to get rid of them... I just don't see why they are selling items on the board at 1gil when they could sell it to an npc and get there 99 gil instantly... Last time I checked you cant get a retainer unless your in a town... Personally I have been selling toad leather at about 575 and making a decent profit, I was selling aldgoat leather until all the undercutters came in and crashed the market... Was making 525 off aldgoat leather then the under cutters came in and now its about 225... My strategy changed to a different product and unfortunately thats all you can do...

I did notice a bump when they opened up the World Transfer. I've done well on the market so far. Getting Alchemy to 50 helped. But most items that were selling steady are getting severely undercut, for me anyway.

Well, if you are just making stuff to level, there is nothing wrong with putting items up for enough to get your money back so you can reinvest and continue leveling.

You do "profit" in that you basically get free exp.

If people aren't buying fast enough to remove the undercutters, that means the market is just saturated. When you see a long list of undercutters and you look at the recent transactions tab for the item and notice 3 were sold in the last 2 days you can expect to see a long list of undercutters competing for the few consumers.

Famfrit is having a nice boost in the economy with several raiding FCs xfering here and recently new raiding FCs are also starting here. Now that we have a population to mass consume, our markets are trucking along.
