Sony doesn't handle payments for ARR
I was a bit disappointed myself. I have about 60 dollars on my PS wallet, was hoping to use it for subs.. its unfortunate that you cant.
You have to go through the Mog Station. It doesn't matter what system you play on, payment is all the same.
I don't think you can transfer anything from your PSN wallet. Mog station is set up for credit cards, or crysta.
While sony has the game available on one of it's platforms, it doesn't mean they are Square Enix.
This basically means your subscription is handeled through SE, not Sony. All you've got to do, as mentioned before in this thread, is log into your account on the mog-station and use a FFXIV:ARR game time card or subscribe for a monthly fee wich will be charged from your bank account/credit card/etc.
Edit: One of our guild members and a lot of other players recently had trouble with the subscription though, I don't know many details but will provide if I get more. The aftermath was that the member of our FC had to buy Crysta. I'd sugguest you grab a game time card if you want to be 100% sure :p
So because you didn't research how payment works, you're just gonna quit? Not trying to be mean, but you're gonna let your screw up, well screw up the game for you?
You don't need a credit card or time card either. You can use your bank(debit) card, or you can get one of the prepaid card that companies like American express have(the cards that you can transfer money to, and use it instead of your bank card, or cash) to pay for your sub.
Welcome to the Subscription based MMO. FFXI was the same way it was on PS2 but sony didnt touch fees....
In Europe or Japan there are ARR time cards. In North America a Universal Game Card can be used to buy Crysta which in turn can be used to pay for the subscription (it just adds an extra step to the process). So either way there are ways for someone without a credit/debit card to buy game time.
The credit card is simply a convienient way for a lot of people who have one and want an automatically renewing subscription.
I downloaded this game on my PS3 and to be honest I very much expected to be paying the subscription from my PSN wallet, I mean that would have been the sensible and logical to do. As it is 2 weeks in to my free month I doubt ill actually want to subscribe when my month is up as theres a couple of things that are really starting to annoy me in this game as I sit here once more outside a dungeon waiting on this duty finder to let me start playing again , having group dungeons in the story quest is a bad idea.
Again, not trying to be mean, or a dick, but the information on all this has existed since beta. So it's honestly your fault for not properly researching things.
But look on the bright side, you have cash on PSN you can put towards other games, like the Last of Us(or if you have that, the coming DLC for it).
Almost every game nowadays lets you download a digi version from most retailers, does that mean if I have an account with that retailer and have funds in it I can use the funds for the sub of that game? Nope! Its common sense really guys, you pay the developer, not the reseller. SE has nothing to do with sony lol
