First off you level way to fast in this game. I can get from 1-50 just wearing my gear I start off with. FATES are the dumbest I'v seen in any game they are so easy and mindless. FATES either need to be removed or fixed so that they scale to the people fighting them. This game has such a great looking world but it is just empty more world content needs to be added. World content also needs to be more party based everything is solo. Materia and crafting seems to just a second thought to Yoshi P you don't need any Materia through out the game or craft anything its just there. Teleportation is very dumb in this game you can teleport everywhere whats the point of airships and boats. Yoshi P had it right near the end of 1.0 with adding NM's, fixing up the battle system and other features then it just seem he went backwards and made a WOW variation of Final Fantasy.

There's many other things to do besides fate grind. I agree that there should be more ways to level, but STOP asking them to remove fates just because people choose to participate them in the most boring way possible.
I never did a fate grinding PUG until yesterday. It was a bit faster exp gain than I normally get, but so mindlessly boring. Before yesterday, I only did FATEs when they happened to appear where I was while I was doing something else. FATEs are a nice, exciting, and challenging change of pace when I do them organically, instead of spamming them with a giant, cheap group.
Plus, they already told us they are adding some more ways to level in 2.1. -

FATEs are incredibly flawed. They certainly need a LOT of tweaking. I've lost count of how many level 50s I've seen that are wearing level 15 gear in Ifrit/AK. Had a WAR pop in Ifrit last night wearing level 18 gear and said he'd never tanked anything in the game and didn't know how to hold hate. That should never happen.

With the removal of fates a person who joins this game and runs around doing all the quests for their first job (as they would in any other MMO) will be utterly screwed when they decide to level another job. -

No, it's not trolling. Doing my relic quest on my Bard with my FC and we queued for a DPS and Tank and got a Warrior like that. Not my fault if you can't see how people can legitimately do this. I'm not saying to remove FATEs, just that they shouldn't be as good as they are.

What about the idea that if you level up summoner you also get scholar at 50 too, what if they don't know how to heal OH NOES. From what I've heard from interviews with Yoshi there will be more jobs that share primaries in the future, so we might see dps jobs that share a primary with a tank job. So wouldn't that be exactly what the guys here are saying the problem is, people at 50 who don't know how to tank?
I don't see any of this as a problem, if people want to skip content and get to 50 then that's their prerogative, it's not my job to tell people what to do. -

I know that right now you can't complete some content due to being improperly geared but as long as people do not rage quit on you in DF, it is still possible to repeatedly try and fail that content and not know that completion was effected in any way by gear level. Not just by FATES, I think the speed by which we level makes it easier to just not upgrade your gear constantly because you are already leveled out of it in no time. If I had a dollar for every time some one told me not to worry about melds and gear level until 50! I imagine they plan to deal with this and I am patient. Till then I will keep upgrading gear as soon as I feasibly can regardless of my level, no matter how futile it may seem to be at lower levels. -

For some reason, people think players will just migrate like lemmings to dungeons if FATEs were nerfed or removed. More than likely, those players would probably quit the game for being forced into the DF or shout channel just to level up.

I think fates will thin the player base, which I don't mind as long as they don't turn the game off. Dude I work with did fates to 50 and started grinding AK. He said it was too hard an stopped playing. I thought I was severely over leveled grinding dungeons but I ha gear an can tank. I'm sure there are a lot more stories out there and yes it's each players prerogative as to what they do.
