/Tell during duty

Should be available.
Every single other MMO with cross-server technology found a way to do it.

If it's a design decision, I heartily disagree with it. If they think people will harass others through /tell, so they disabled /tells in a dungeon, that's a bogus excuse.
It doesn't stop people from harassing at all - they just do it in party chat. You're not going to stop toxic players. That's what the blacklist is for--Which doesn't work cross-server?

Square Enix REALLY need to get themselves into the 21st century with their network infrastructure. This is getting old.
I'd expect this from 1.0; but not ARR.

Also would like to be able to invite people we know to help fill a spot after someone DC's; I suppose that wouldn't be fair to those in the queue though.

But I agree, I don't see why we can't send tells. I can still FC and LS chat.

Given that players can be reached via LS, FC, and voice-comms, what's the need for the extra layer of accessibility?

If we had to enable something, I'd much rather have access to my FC console than to /tell.

They could always restrict it to only letting people who are on your friends list /t you while in a dungeon or instance.

With all the other issues that need to be sorted out with dungeons/duty finder, like entering dungeons with "join in progress" that are completely empty just so your forced to re-que, I am pretty sure /t during run is last on list for this system.

what exactly would you need /tell for that you couldn't use in party chat unless you are going to talk behind someone's back ?

It's cause healers would /tell each other stuff like "This tank sucks doesn't he?" or the Tanks would tell the healers to stop the DPS for attacking mobs out of order. Can't talk behind peoples' backs now. /conspiracy

Oh yeah there is NO WAY you would ever want to send a tell to someone not in your party.

If you think this is for any reason other than some hilarious mechanics side effect you're crazy.

I think it has more to do with the fact that instances take place on a different server than the one your character is on.

As for FC and Linkshell chat though, it may maintain a connection to that particular communication channel, but in an instance you cant manage linkshell, free company or friends list.

I miss Playonline's global friendslist. With something like that, it might even be possible to do instances with people from your fl on other servers if they tweak the Duty Finder to accommodate such a global list.

Honestly? I don't see why we'd need /tell in a dungeon.

I know I don't want gold sellers whispering me like they do when I'm outside of an instance. People really shouldn't be sending tells in a dungeon when they're supposed to be keeping up anyway.

You have your fc/ls/party chat if you really need it.

Well then, perhaps they should enable tells, but allow you to turn yours off. I really don't understand this viewpoint of "I don't want X, so keep it broken for everyone".

That should be an option already, inside or outside of duties. I don't want tells from people I don't know, period.

This is a waste of a topic, this proves without a doubt people will complain about anything at all. You don't need /tells to cry about a bad tank, grow up and tell him he's bad. You don't need /tell to talk to ls mates or anyone else. If you can't stop being a shady back talker for the duration of a dungeon I damn sure don't want you slowing my party down. Stop digging for minor things to cry about, join a bandwagon and hate something that people feel is really broken. I have had 0 complaints so far because this is an MMO and much like wine should get better with time. Relax people and try not to infect the rest of the community by being pricks.
