New Lifestyle Content

So at Fan Fest it was mentioned the new lifestyle content they're working on will be group-friendly. What are people's thoughts on this?

For me, so long as there's the ability to do it solo or with others, then I think it sounds great. Nice happy medium for everyone.

What are some fun ways they could make lifestyle content group-friendly but still keep an option to do it on your own if you just want to chill?

I think one of the best examples they can look at is the Firmament Restoration. It wasn't perfect, but it was still just *chefs kiss*

Content that invited a huge amount of players of various levels to participat towards a pretty significant goal, provided a lot of good rewards in between, and essentially ended with a huge payoff of something that was pretty much highly demanded.

This seems like they are trying to blend IS with IR and as of right now I don’t really see a way to make it work

In order to encourage group play with no combat you need FOMO (it’s why IR worked), there is little enough reward they could offer to keep non roulette non combat content active for long periods of time beyond how IR “evergreens” itself by being a crafting catch-up system even though it’s impossible to now replicate the actual active restoration

Meanwhile on the other hand IS with ransoms seems like it just wouldn’t work at all, maybe a DOL/DOH Bozja may be what they are going for but it seems doubtful they could incentivise it terribly well

They'd have to not have the FOMO, though. That would completely destroy the idea of being able to enjoy it at your own pace.

Yeah I'm wondering if it wouldn't be with randoms but with people you chose. So not something we queued up for. Maybe sharing resources between individual personal areas or bringing all goods produced (if they go that route again) to a communal selling area.

Oh yeah, I get what you mean. I'm not saying copy and paste the Firmament and call it new content. Just something they can look at and maybe see what elements they can take/adapt/tweak for new lifestyle content, but only if they really think it can properly fit

They mentioned it would actually be social content. That is a big improvement over Island Sanctuary and addresses one of the issues Endwalker has had.

That isn't to say non-battle content is my preferred content. It's not. But it is better for it to be like Ishgard Restoration than to be like Island Sanctuary. It's meant to be a social game.

Perhaps something players build together that after completed gets wiped out by a hurricane after a week. Could be built slowly or quickly depending on participation but stays up a full week when done. Then "Hurricane" and back to square one.

it's just going to be IS but they will make it so friends being there won't be completely pointless.

if they make it so you can progress your islands on others or have ways to help and interact beneficially with others would go a long way to improve the old system greatly.

my take on it is like all the other content they make especially when its in the same line lets use DD as the example it will always be the same content as last time just a bit different and it just sounds like they took the players feedback on how it feels like you are all alone when you do IS and is improving that part.

Yeah. I'm curious how they're going to balance progress with others and progress solo so soloers aren't punished if they want to tackle it on their own terms.
