(6.5 SPOILER) possible new job hint

So just finished the MSQ and was looking at the reddit forum and saw that someone notice a possible hint of the new caster job.

Green Mage.

The item from the letter is shaped like a clover which matches very close to the symbols found on gear from previous green mage designs.

Still not enough to not be speculation.

The green does match the turtles... skin color.

But then the turtles names matches that of notable painters, and a painter job would have strong relation with blue mage, giving us an combat variant of it.

Why is everyone so sure it's "Green Mage" and not "Geomancer"?

Would love for it to be geomancer. I'm just posting a possible connection that i saw on reddit, is all.

Geomancer was already established by the lore book and AST questline as being very similar to AST and CNJ to the point where IIRC AST spell casting was able to supplement barriers made by a Geomancer and the spell animations for that NPC were the same as CNJ ones. CNJ already has elemental magic and despite those evolving into light spells, they just added a water spell to WHM.

It’s also a discipline of magic based on the other side of the world, in the Far East, and it would be awkward imo to introduce a new class that has nothing to do with the newly introduced region.

Playable GEO would mean retconning and redoing the AST quests and a complete overhaul of CNJ gameplay and quests and I don’t see them doing that just for a new job that has 20 levels.

I mean they already threw out the baby but kept the bathwater with most of the AST quests.

I don’t think that justifies them making the situation with the AST quests even worse though.

I was originally super in board with green mage since it’s my favorite color plus my favorite genre of class, but I wonder if it would have any hint of a resemblance to other green mages since they’re supposed to be about buffing and we know it’s not going to be a barrier healer.

Speaking of barrier healers, with 4 casters, does anyone else think they would separate them into 2 categories like a support-centric one with RDM and a selfish blaster like BLM? I wonder if that would be better for the casters or just make everything worse.

The clover is identical (or close to identical) to what is seen on Green Mage robes. Turtles are also green and have shells (Green Mages cast Shell). Green Mages are also associated with Viera and we're going to Erenville's homeland which is presumably filled with Viera. If it isn't Green Mage after the clover reveal then they intentionally mislead us for funsies.

Occam's Razor and all.

I'm just happy it's more likely than not GRM because I've wanted that forever.

Also, it always bothers me that people point out Pictomancer cuz of notable painters when Donatello was a sculptor. That's just me being silly and nitpicky though lol. Not directed towards you.
