The German word for "wedge", "Keil" is used in the German localization for The House of the Crooked Coin. It's literally called "Nhaama's Wedge".

Evidence that would support the theory that the Dhyata refers to the House in it's translation would be if there were six other locations like this around the world.

As a fellow german, I think it's very thin evidence. 'Keil' is just such a common word, especially in more 'old-fashioned' settings, and the other languages lack such a connection of the terms from the Quest and the location. Unless the term used in the Quest and the name for the House of the Crooked Coin align in other languages as well, it's just as much likely as any other theory regarding what the 'wedges' might be. -

Do we have any idea what the "House of the Crooked Coin" name is actually supposed to mean? It's not a house and has no apparent relation to coins, and it just seems like a really random name for it.
"Nhaama's Wedge" is still cryptic initially but it lines up with what we soon learn about it being a device that blocks the flow of aether, and generally sounds more like something that fits into Xaela mythology.
What is it called in Japanese and French? Did something get lost in translation? -

I can't decide if I want the Golden Dhyata's message to be solved near immediately so that these theories can be put to rest, or for it to not get even tangentially mentioned for several expansions so that we can see the theories get more and more strained.
I personally don't read much into it, since the message was pretty clearly the type of cryptic that's deliberately saying nothing tangible or useful, but pretending it is. Really useful for long-term serialized storytelling, because it means you can write whatever you want and retroactively justify it as foreshadowing. I'm all on board with that, and I love it when it means they pull up weird little bits of worldbuilding to make a story around (like Eureka Orthos most recently), but a cryptic message just doesn't give me any meaningful hooks. I'm much more interested in the Dhyata itself.

'Crooked coin' is a bit of a difficult metaphor to untangle, because there could be multiple meanings and none of them are super clear. Google threw me a probability problem (because bent coins don't have a striaght 50/50 chance), an old romantic custom in William III's time, and old stories about counterfeits, and I can also immediately think it might be related to damaging coins with stuff like putting them on train tracks. All of those are theoretically plausible given both what we know the Crooked Coin actually does, and what the Dotharl think it does.Quote:

As far as it being House of the Crooked Coin, that's basically like saying, "House of the Lover's Amulet." With Nhaama being Azim's lover in Xaelan mythos. Which is the romantic custom Clereti mentioned. -
