WHM's Lily heals should be unlocked much earlier.

Little feedback from a player that took on WHM the past weeks.

I really think they should redo the unlock levels of spells for WHM, I still can't find a reason of why Cure II can't be unlocked at like level 15-20 and have the Lily system (with both Solace and Rapture) unlocked at level 30 with the job stone...

Especially Rapture, why wait Shadowbringers to just have a Medica equivalent that uses your main core mechanic, for absolutely no actual benefit besides the 5 effect radius difference

Mana management is extremely important to learn as soon as possible, this could be a welcoming change for new players too

Perhaps if you think it's too powerful, you could bring back the 30 seconds Lily generation until Heavensward where a trait lowers it to 20 seconds

Though I'd say rather than Rapture, Misery should also be gained at level 30 with potency that simply scales with your Stone/Glare potency. The lily system doesn't function without Misery. You need that reward at the end of the tunnel to make wasting your GCDs on Cure II but free or Medica but free feel actually helpful in an era where MP management is a long-faded memory of an older generation. That said, a very simple way to balance this if all that free healing makes WHM feel too powerful at early levels would be to make lilies generate once per 40 seconds instead of 20, then have traits that decrease that generation period down to 30 seconds at level 58, then 20 seconds at 68.

Rapture could still stand to be learned earlier of course, but Misery is by far the most important lily to make the gauge function, otherwise it's nothing but window dressing.

I agree, but I also think they can lean into the trait system to just have lower level forms of Solace, Rapture and Misery. That way, we can have a slightly weaker version of Solace at 30, weaker-Rapture at 35, weaker-Misery at idk 50 maybe, then upgrade them to their stronger forms at current levels. Though I'd swap Rapture and Plenary Indulgence personally, so that we can have Rapture in 70 content like UCOB and UWU, because WHM mobility in there is an issue

Most jobs unlock their job gauge at 30-40 when you get the stone, with some exceptions, I think every job should have it's gauge at 40 at the latest, and use 'weaker skill that trait upgrades into the current form' if necessary to achieve that.

Eh, it's kind of irrelevant when the current Lily system unlocks because Afflatus Rapture and Solace add nothing to the healing kit that you didn't already have in Cure II and Medica.

The system just needs to be re-imagined into something that's actually interesting.

It also would just benefit from more tools in general, which moving the current very vanilla actions to much lower levels would open up room to. I think it would much healthier for WHM anyway to refresh its GCD healing library and make both generating and using lilies a bigger part of WHM's design.

One such concept I had that I think would work well is removing Regen and Medica II as they are and add a new lily spell that causes your next GCD heal--any GCD heal to also apply a 250 potency regen on single target heals, or a 150 potency regen on AoE heals. This prunes some of the GCD healing bloat WHM has (despite not actually being a bloated job), restores regens back to being a party of WHM's gameplay that it desires rather than tries to avoid, and creates a "healing combo" of sorts with buttons that actually interact, even if only lightly.

idk about that one, cos I remember week 1 Natural Alignment being scary enough that I'd Regen both purples and put up Medica 2 for good measure, this would take up all the lilies I had and leave none for the in between sections for stack/spread/fire/ice. I'd rather they just merge Cure 1 into 2 as an upgrade trait, and Medica 1 into 2 as an upgrade trait (just slap the HOT onto Med1's base potency) if they want to save button space. With Plenary and Rapture and Lilybell etc it feels like they're trying to make AST more the regen focused healer (it can place like 4 at once) and WHM into the 'burst healing but locked to GCD' healer. I know Regen is a classic white mage skill, but I think it's okay to have it as 'supplement' to the 'pump HP' skills. Most of the old games the WHM's job was not to be a Regen bot, but a Curaga bot

I'd want generating lilies to be something you can choose to do in some fashion rather than them being passively generated, or keeping passive generation and having limited ways to gain more, but actually obtaining resources should have some element of decision making at play which could resolve that concern. If we did want to shift WHM away from regens and make it the burst healer while AST is the regen healer, then you could have this action double the value of your next heal, or apply a healing received up buff or something along those lines, but the core idea here remains the same--creating some aspect of combo healing and a way to set up future heals when perhaps you want to avoid overhealing but need to spend lilies.
