Need changes to the savage loot system...

They need to get rid of the punishment system for having cleared something and then going back to assist others. The reason they put that in there was to make savage completion harder and to "encourage" people to group together and stick with a set static, but with how things work in this game right now it makes things awful in the tail end of a savage tier.

Sure, the current system works if people are all there at the start and blitz the thing, or get a static that can actually go for a good number of days, but what if someone wants to lead a static and they can only get people for two days in a week?

There are people that have to make max level alts just to participate in more than one static because of this arbitrary loot limit on chests. Why should people have to do this? Why can't we just have a regular weekly lockout limit on this like any other content?

I suspect it's to try to stop people from gearing a static up super fast.

Let's say you have a static where everyone has two characters at max level. You figure out how to clear the fights early on, yay!

So you put together a party with the one 'real' static member, and 7 of the alts. You clear the fight. Yay! Then you let that one person roll unopposed on all the gear.

That person takes all their new shiny gear and gets themselves equipped. The next person logs out their alt and logs in the real character, and they go back in to clear again. Sure, the other 7 people in the party already cleared the fight that week, but with no penalty, static member #2 gets to roll (again, unopposed) on a full two-chest run of loot. Because it's still their first run of the week.

Static member #2 goes to meld and equip the near gear. Now static member #3 logs out their alt and logs in their real character, and they go back in. Again, the other seven people in the group have cleared the fight that week, but with no penalty, static member #3 gets to roll unopposed on a full two-chest run of loot. Because it's that character's first run of the week. They go equip their gear, static member #4 logs out their alt, and...

You see where this is going. And as ridiculous as that seems, I am absolutely certain some group would do it.

Or a group might sell clears; "pay us and we'll just carry you through all the fights of the tier and let you have all the loot!" And while I'm certain that already happens, because MMO players are MMO players regardless of game, it's at least something a group can only do once per week right now because of the loot restrictions, instead of immediately going back into PF to do it again.

Don't get me wrong, I hate the system as well; I just also can put on my old game developer hat and see why they'd do it, even if I don't like the result.

People already sell clears so it doesn't change much if they did change the system. Really from personal experience as someone who wanted to help others get through the content while still meeting my own objectives, this system has been way too taxing for what it's worth.

Farm groups would get all the gear they needed for their static in a single day. Its fine the way it is right now.

The gear gating is artificial longevity. It’s not much different from Tomestone caps.

However, I think they could loosen things like how many coffers spawn depending on the number of players that have already cleared for the week. I think having a single player that has already cleared not affecting the two chest drop rate is reasonable; it’s not as if they can roll on the loot anyways.

So, something like this—
- 0 to 1 players cleared: 2 chests
- 2 to 5 players cleared: 1 chest
- 6 to 8 players cleared: no chests

Could even allow up to 2 cleared players for the two chest drop. It’s not as if it would affect the group too heavily to have only 6/8 rolling on stuff.


I also think it should just be unlocked after the odd number patch comes out. But that’s just me.

personally we need role locked loot and incremental caps for this and on rare tomestones. What does this mean?
Week 1 you get 450 tomes, Week 2 you get your cap upped to 900. However if you were unable to play, you can still earn 450 from week 2 and the ones you misse from week 1.

If anything. The number of pages needs to be DECREASED on higher floors. I think 4 weeks is entirely reasonable at this point for any gear piece, and Accessories should take maybe 2 weeks tops (IF that gets decreased). Loot lockouts still remain the same - just the number of pages decrease.

World's first progress would clear - and changes nothing.

It would encourage more people not less to try to clear savage, it encourages people to change jobs if necessary and not feel behind. Tanks and healers can finally be not left last because everything is a DPS check.

Can some of these be cleared without Savage gear, of course. But people want some kind of reward for doing them. So reducing the number of pages is fine.

It opens up access to more content during the 4 months schedule.

This, I agree on 100%. More than once a friend's static has been down someone for a week and ask if anyone can step in. But if you've already cleared for the week with your static, you can't go help them without screwing them out of a chest... and if they're raiding before your static, you can't go help them without screwing your static out of a chest. And you can keep an alt for those occasions, of course, but then you have to still clear on them to ensure you're geared, and then either you wait until the end of the week to do it (in case someone needs a fill-in before then), or you have the same problem about "I already cleared this week, so I'm screwing you out of a chest."

While I think the chest-reduction system is annoying, I do see justification for it. But I absolutely think you could have one person in the group have cleared without reducing the chests, and it would do very little to unbalance things but a lot to reduce the annoyance factor that happens when trying to find a sub for a given week.
