The state of Thordan normal mode

I feel sad every time I queue for a roulette and i see it's the King Thordan fight.

Not that i don't like this fight. Actually it is one of my favorite contents in this game. I love the lore, I love the map design, I love the soundtrack, and specially, i love the feelings i had when I did this fight for the very first time when 3.0 released.

I feel sad because it's now one of the easiest contents in the entire game. Healings are almost not required. Tanks? a black mage can easily tank him, and I would not be surprised to see someone beating him using only auto attack.

I'm not saying that i want really hard Trial. I just would like to see new players having the same experiecing that veterans had when the game/expansion/patch was released. It's so frustrating to get to the climax of the expansion, the biggest moment, the final boss, and see a Scholar afk while Eos heals the party, or see people dancing on AOE.

This has to be fixed. Please, take a closer look to this Trial and some other contents in the game

If it's only just now addressing that, I can't wait for the HW update in 2060.

They have to understand that it's not a minor problem, It's actually one of the main problems with this game. How many times i see a friend of mine just quitting the game even before reach stormblood, just because the game doensn't have any challenge, because biggest moments actually frustrates the player, or because nowadays MMOs have voice acting in every quest. Why do you think that huge amount of new players are not even playing the game anymore? Square enix is actually losing money right now.

You can thank SB and class homogenization for that one. As for the voice acting problem, not a problem. Since when was reading a bad thing in a video game? i would laugh if SE actually got worried they were losing money, though considering they are doubling down on the Avengers game I seriously doubt they will learn anything from it.

I mean its proven that they aren't loosing money from their newest earnings report and that even takes into account the dead time they stopped selling the game. Since ShB it's playerbase has been increasing each year so they aren't actually loosing money in this regard thats for sure. There are many hoops stopping people playing the game but people have to remember its not exactly a new title, I mean you can play Lost Ark and enjoy a terribly written and paced, badly voiced story or WoW not barely having any voiced lines besides lines. ESO granted yes is fully voiced but suffers samey syndrome where its like the same 10 people are doing all the work. I am not defending the sporadic use of voice work in 14 im fine with the text reading its just where they pick to voice and dont voice is my issue.

I would put good money on this being made into an Unreal Trial in the not too distant future. Stay tuned.

Wanna know the sad thing? It wasn't even that hard when it first came out. I should know. I've been playing the game since 2.1 and Thordan Normal was a breeze. Great music and visuals but cleared on the first try. I remember it was kinda of a buzz that they promised that the Extreme version of the fight would be much harder and boy it was. That would be the version that we would be seeing for an unreal.

It is definitely one of those things where a lack of difficulty actually hurts the narrative punch. It feels like you are bullying an old man.

I think MSQ trials like Shinryu or Tsukuoyomi are sufficient for an MSQ trial. They are not hard in the grand scheme of the game but it's enough to make sure sprouts are awake when they get there in the story. Make it feel like you had to fight to get to the next plot point.
