Reading the posts around here, all i see is why they removed that feature from FFXI? Why is this different then FFXI? They should make this and that just like FFXI?
I played FFXI myself. Yup it is a great game and i have some good memories from it. But FFXIV is by no means FFXI-2. It is not a sequel and besides the races, it is not meant to resemble FFXI in any way.
Square Enix made this game to be a completely different game then FFXI and it's competitors' games (WOW etc...)
I know FFXI has some great features and so does WOW but please keep in mind that FFXI is still here and it will stay around for another few years. SE does not want to keep FFXI and then add a FFXI copy with updated graphics.
So to all of you who keep wondering why some features from FFXI are not in XIV... well it is because they are 2 separate games and that do not have anything in common besides the Final Fantasy name.
Please try to focus on how we can make this a better and more unique game, instead of falling into FFXI nostalgia and asking to make this a plai copy of FFXI.... we need new, better and original features.
Why do you all feel FFXIV is a sequel to FFXI?

So far the new, original features turned out to be not so much better. It's a new game with a new storyline, new gear, new formulas, new setup, and hopefully soon a new and better class system. Other than that... Come on. If its not broke, don't fix it. Targeting system? Mob claiming? Magic system? Is it REALLY necessary to make sure its not the same, and sacrifice quality in the process?

look at all the character models and they way the maps and cities are layed out. It's pretty much a copy paste concept of FF11 but w/o the many great features/aspects that made FF11 so great. w/o them this game is utter poop and that is why many of FF11's great points need to be implimented to further improve this game.
This is another FF MMO. They should not have deviated from what had made 11 so great. If they already put the effort into copy pasting FF11's Famous Three Cities, The Jeuno city that is not yet unlocked, and the EXACT SAME races but with different names, same names in magic spells but with very shitty and poor quality animations.
It's just an unfinished game that needs work with the help of 11... -

If they would have gone a different route, say, XIII's style where it's Sci-Fantasy, or VII, I wouldn't call it a sequel. But it's practically the same game, which is sad since MMOs saturate the heck out of "fantasy" and there is very little sci-fi out there. FF's unique blend of science-fantasy yo see in most of their other games would have been quite welcome, at least by me. -

I'm confused as to the title? We do NOT feel like this is an FFXI-2 and we wish it was.
The problem SE have is they forget that WE are the ones playing, NOT THEM. If 90% of people want an XI-2 they have to do it or 90% dont play lol its as simple as that. (figure used as example).
They then thought they could do the same tactics as before and create very minimal stuff @ first just like XI then spend a year getting it up to par just like XI then spoon feed us expansions and we pay for them for stuff they already planned. Sorry we're not that stupid, this isnt 2002 again, we expected standards to be set and that is why the game has ultimately failed and XI just makes it worse because its not like its SE first attempt lol they've already made great systems but then they went and completely ruined them in their second game. It is also why FF13 has a bad representation because they've gone down a bad road in some aspects. -

This game has more than enough hi-tech coming once we get out of Eorzea. Maybe even sooner. -

Further more it will push away all the players that did not like FFXI or that were looking for a different experience. Yes FFXI had great features but so did WOW and WOW is a completely different game then FFXI. WOW didnt need to be an exact copy of FFXI to be sucessful... they got their own thing going on. This is what needs to be done with FFXIV. They messed up with their attempt at orginialty but it can be fixed with a better system.Quote:

the player base was expecting ffxi-2. they got something totally different and they bailed. the game failed. it is that simple.
don't fool yourself with the "it just needs content / it's unfinished" jargon. the funamentals of the game are flawed. far vast majority of the players quit playing before they even got to see the rest of the launch content as it is. more of the same won't save the game. it needs a complete overhaul, aka; ffxi-2. -

If they did make a FF11-2 like EVERYONE AND THEIR MOTHER was expecting then I would be playing an enjoybale game right now instead of browsing these lame threads on how to fix this excuse of a game while I lye in wait for the next FEW months possibly a year until this game becomes enjoyable..
