Don't need a new thread for this, we already have one here: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...er-MSQ-Changes
Just. Don't. Do. Main. Scenario. Roulette.
I know that it's a stretch to consider it, but there's no legal or physiological obligation to do the MSQ Roulette, ever.
If it is bothering you in Mentor Roulette then, well, you are being compensated in several ways for having Mentor status, so expect to have to do some mentoring at some point.
Culfni says screw the newbies who need to get through msq, they can sit in eternal queues for all he cares because while cutscenes were optional the queues were not.
He's not saying don't do the MSQ period. He's simply pointing out that you have the option of not doing them if the cutscene change is enough to evoke "pain and rage". In all honesty, new players brought this upon themselves with their constant whinging about speed runs in the first place.
The easiest solution to this problem is to remove the cinematic cut-scenes and make the "cut-scenes" run in real time. There's already a break in combat so you may as well have the NPCs say their lines via Text Bubble, perform actions in real time, and then go right into the next section. This will reduce the loading between cut-scenes and plus streamline the dungeon. The Dev Team needs to reconsider their stand on not updating or QoL older content because they don't have "time and resources" to do it.
It's not a stance. It's a reason. My "stance" on not having enough money or people to do something is irrelevant to if it can be accomplished. Unless you think they should risk getting fired for going against budgets and direction.
OP: I think it needs to be removed from solo or unsynched queuing but the roulette part is doing its job.
I really think they should consider allocating time and resources to turning these two duties into a solo instance. They have no issue blowing a bunch of resources on things like Perform, but they can’t consider going back and tweaking something that will benefit the new players? It doesn’t have to come out until 5.0 if they want to choose to work on it slowly until then, but they really should consider it.
I think the majority of their focus is new and persistently used content, not old reqs. MSQ is a one time thing for most and while it used to be the culmination of hours of adventuring and the last thing we saw before the ultimate reward, it's now just a stone in the road that most people forget unless they queue up the roulette. Sure some work could be put in here and there, and I'm not against the idea, but I'm highly doubtful they'd ever convince a director it would be worth the time and money and I'm doubly sure they have far more pressing and widely affecting things to work on.
I actually like the change since it means I have one daily roulette to skip now which gives me more time to raid
