4.2 Housing Update

Anyone happen to know if they will be removing houses from those currently already own more then one plot per server? I hope not, that would suck. Oops did not mean to make a new thread, meant to post in the current one. Does anyone happen to know of a way to delete threads.

Edit: It doesn't matter if you're FC Master or not, once you entered FC, you're bounded with that rule.

Seems the only fair thing to do is grandfather people into the new system since from what I can tell no rules were broken when it came to getting more then one plot. Granted I do stand to lose a lot if they do not grandfather people into the new system since my FC and myself do own half a ward between all of us. We helped each other create and level up one man free company's.

Removing housing from a current paying customer who broke no rules at the point they purchased?

No I think not. The restriction will be on purchase so they can't buy any more and overtime as they either give up or get demolished they'll go back into the system.

Of course, but how exactly could they possibly compensate? The plot price is easy, but the time/effort/money spent on decorating isn't possible to determine and would vary per person (some people craft themselves, others buy from marketboard, etc.) The PR backlash they'd risk, it's not worth it. Considerably easier to just leave be.

They're probably going to compensate them with the price of the house and plot, plus imho a decent % more to compensate for furnishings and options that are destroyed or can't be reclaimed. It's just not fair for anyone to own more than 1 person and 1 FC house in a game where there's 72k plots for 300k accounts.

They'll likely let every multiple house owner pick which house(s) they will keep.

If they don't, the change was not actually a change.

EDIT: It would be really cool if they made all furnishings that become soulbound when placed unsoulbound when houses are relinquished like this, so you could potentially turn some profit on top of it. Though it shouldn't apply to things that are soulbound the moment they are acquired.

Well, even if someone who has multiple homes is forced to give up some, they won't end up homeless (unlike the Korean server merge fiasco). I would very much like SE to mandate the one personal, one fc house per account to everyone come 4.2. Sure, there might be initial backlash from the hoarders, but the community as a whole will benefit.

I agree with Lissandra. Leaving people with houses at alts and create an limitation for anyone else is even more unfair. That would be create even more bad reaction from players. If they want to be fair in this matter, they should consider everyone to have the same options regarding owning a plot. I more surprised about the limitation in buying personal housing.

I think your math is a bit wrong there.

30 plots per wards, 2 subdivisions, 18 wards, 4 housing areas, 66 servers.

That's 285,120 :D

4.2 will be adding 95,040 houses.

I do like that SE is actually being reasonable here.

Well we'll see, but that slide was only talking about plot purchasing (which is by far the easiest thing for them to do, check at point of purchase if person is eligible or not).

Reasons I don't think they'll touch existing people:

• Compensation - We already have inflation issues, do they really want to inject more money into the system? And how much for what? How do you compensate for time/effort? Plot price is easy (100%...), time/effort acquiring furniture not so much.
• They'd have to build a system/way for players to select which house/fc house to keep or build in something to compensate people when they relinquish (which wouldn't necessarily work for FC as they'd just transfer ownership).
• Public relations - Although I'm sure the players with multiple houses are in the minority, it still doesn't look good for SE if there's news about taking things away from players who worked hard on them and broke no rules (I'm especially thinking of those people on Mateus!)
• Storage - How does a player with multiple houses even store all the items that they've acquired? Especially since they added in housing storage which itself is holding even more items. Players would be forced to discard items due to the binded nature of them.

It just seems to me one heck of a lot less work/effort to just leave it be and overtime they'll naturally come back into the system.
