Why is Machinist DPS SOOOO BAD?

I don't parse, but someone linked to parser log that had DPS for all classes on the new extreme primals.

Machinist is bottom of the barrel. So bad, that it barely beats out Paladin!

Bard destroys it in DPS and utility! Do MCH players need to wait until 4.1 for any improvement?

Hope it's being looked at. The numbers I saw were frightening. Almost 1,000 dps difference between the best bard and best machinist, and 1400 between SAM and MCH.

And people often say MCH has one of the harder rotations. So why use a class with a hard rotation and crap DPS?

had to wait till midas for mch to be viable and creator for them to be actually great so wait about 6-7 months XDDDDD. but seriously HW Mch main here I switched to sam last week best choice I made not gonna suffer a whole expac like I did during hw as a mch

I mean......1k between MCH and BRD.....the parser you're looking at is between a BRD with arms and an AFK MCH.

1000 dps???
MCH does need a buff, but you are blowing the problem entirely out of proportion.

Maybe they parsed a perfect storm for the BRD where there was a huge AOE pull, he had time to set up dots on the pull and then popped cooldowns, Ballad/QuickNock/Rain of Death spam while the MCH was trying to get a cat off his keyboard and then had to go answer the door because his Pizza was delivered?

At 90th percentile, aka the best 10% of people, the average difference between MCH and BRD is roughly 60 dps. Source: Susano Lakshmi

"Best" parses aren't good for comparison because they're literally outliers on the scale. The sample size of Machinist parses is also very low compared to other jobs for the time being.

It's Gordias again. No prob. I can wait.

Rather than riding the wave, or overreacting, I'll continue to adapt and use the new kit as it currently is. If and when it gets buffed, I'll at least already know what I'm doing and just be able to do it better.

Pass me some tea. This is gonna be fun to watch.

Actually the top BRD was fed balances so it's as unfair as the 5K SAM. Buuuut...the real highest is 4.1K, which is still a giant 400-500 point gap between MCH and BRD.

Best parses are usually inflated by (majority of the time) everyone feeding that individual buffs. Fflogs can be a gross inflation of what the actual dps of players are and only pushes a job to it's absolute peak.

Vote going on with Fflogs to discount balance. You'll see that people are somewhere in the 90+% for balance uptime.

It isn't even the DPS that miffs me about MCH at the moment. Overheating feels just awkward, bad and, dare I say it, the 10 seconds after it are completely unnecessary. Building up the heat should be 'punishment' enough and I am very certain it wouldn't break the DPS charts if Overheating was more of an option instead on just using it on selected Wildfires. To put it into perspective, Overheating is basically just half a old Raging Strikes at this moment.

Also, you have this perfect system of linking the MCH support abilities to his turrets. It would fit the class so well if the MCH just tinkers with their turret mid fight to let it spit out different support effects. And yet you do nothing with the turrets other than letting us blow them up for very medicore gains.

What if it were reworked so that Cooldown worked exactly as its name implies? Lessens Overheat uptime, or perhaps shortens the barrel cooling time (which I personally feel 10 seconds is a bit long anyways). This could serve to fast track us back to GB usage and minimize "downtime", giving our sustain a little help.

I actually like the Overheat mechanic, imperfect as it may currently be. It would seem our between burst or poor burst management penalties are too big right now, especially with overall uptime BRD has for all it does/can do. And while I still don't see that as doom for MCH, I'd simply say lessen the downtime, or increase the damage.

P.S. Cooldown needs a better name.
