Why is Machinist DPS SOOOO BAD?

I don't parse, but someone linked to parser log that had DPS for all classes on the new extreme primals.

Machinist is bottom of the barrel. So bad, that it barely beats out Paladin!

Bard destroys it in DPS and utility! Do MCH players need to wait until 4.1 for any improvement?

Hope it's being looked at. The numbers I saw were frightening. Almost 1,000 dps difference between the best bard and best machinist, and 1400 between SAM and MCH.

And people often say MCH has one of the harder rotations. So why use a class with a hard rotation and crap DPS?

had to wait till midas for mch to be viable and creator for them to be actually great so wait about 6-7 months XDDDDD. but seriously HW Mch main here I switched to sam last week best choice I made not gonna suffer a whole expac like I did during hw as a mch

I mean......1k between MCH and BRD.....the parser you're looking at is between a BRD with arms and an AFK MCH.

MCH does need a buff, but you are blowing the problem entirely out of proportion.

Maybe they parsed a perfect storm for the BRD where there was a huge AOE pull, he had time to set up dots on the pull and then popped cooldowns, Ballad/QuickNock/Rain of Death spam while the MCH was trying to get a cat off his keyboard and then had to go answer the door because his Pizza was delivered?

"Best" parses aren't good for comparison because they're literally outliers on the scale. The sample size of Machinist parses is also very low compared to other jobs for the time being.

Best parses are usually inflated by (majority of the time) everyone feeding that individual buffs. Fflogs can be a gross inflation of what the actual dps of players are and only pushes a job to it's absolute peak.

Vote going on with Fflogs to discount balance. You'll see that people are somewhere in the 90+% for balance uptime.

I have seen a few machinists hitting over 3k on susie ex ... I don't think that's too shabby for dps.

Unless I die I usually can hit in the 3.2-3.3 range on susan. This is without dropping a single CD, wasting a single shot, mismanaging my heat, or making a single mistake. So if I play at 100% proficiency I can just barely edge out over people who haven't even figured out how to optimize their rotation. Never you mind what happens to the charts when I play with members of my FC.

Isn't that kind of the problem though? MCH brings less utility, so you'd expect them to be able to do more damage. If BRD can essentially do the same damage with a much larger repertoire of utility, then why bring a MCH?

Sure, MCH could use some buffs. But so could BLM, DRG and SMN.

Rather than riding the wave, or overreacting, I'll continue to adapt and use the new kit as it currently is. If and when it gets buffed, I'll at least already know what I'm doing and just be able to do it better.
