Is Onslaught a joke?

We get this visually great looking ability at level 62 that allows us to charge into battle, however, it requires you to spend Beast Gauge to use it.

You can’t generate Beast Gauge until you are already in a fight, at that point you are already in melee range.

I can’t figure a point where it would be ideal to use this action. Can’t charge in with it unless you hoard up your BG and forfeit on damage. It won’t generate as much agro as Tomahawk, and does less damage.

Using it on an add will just mean you end up moving the boss with you, so again, you better of just provoking and/or tomahawking the add, plus you just wasted BG you could have used to do something much more fruitful, like deal damage.

Tying Onslaught to BG made it nearly entirely useless.

And only 100 potency??

This thing should generate BG, not consume it!

Can we please just increase the recharge to 30 seconds like other similar actions and have it cost TP?

A charge without cost would be a little crazy for some higher end content mobility wise. It's not supposed to initiate a fight, it's meant to get you back into it. This is mostly an ability which is gonna be used during boss fights to get you right back in after you have to run from an aoe or something. Or in PvP to keep up with players due to our lack of a stun

So an extremely situational and mostly useless ability.

I know it's not meant to initiate a fight, it's useless for it as it stands, obviously. The number of AoEs that are large enough that I would find the waste of BG (assuming you had any at that precise time) is extremely limited. If this is only going to be actually useful in PvP, then make it a PvP action and give us something useful at 62.

Wasting 20 BG on this instead of just walking back in and use that same BG for an Upheaval is almost always just going to be a terrible use of BG.

This is what I use it for and trash so I don't risk moving them out of Shadowflare and other ground AoE's, I'm actually using it more than I figured I would. Then again I always seem to have a lot of my beast gauge to burn through.

That is a good point, at least for me. if you're forced out due to AoE you can charge back in, gain enmity and not break your combo to finish things off. Depending on the AoE thought I guess it might be better to throw your axe a few times instead. Still so far to get to Maim debuff, forced out and rush back in to finish off my combo is nice.

I know I come in as a green leaf tank in general but I sailed my way over the salty seas from WHM and SMN grotto! Fair warning, before you start to complain you need to make it clear what you want as an alternative. The mages complained about not wanting that evil stance dancing. Solution was given. Summoners hated the egi's and wanted to bring out an actual primal. Solution was given, but in both scenarios a lot of needed things were neglected or implemented because they weren't clear on their message. My people still struggle to this very patch. /nod.

It's not, but it would have to be adjusted. Much like everything else in this game if you get something you give something else up. I personally like it how it is, both of them. If anything the DRK move could benefit from a quick Increased enmity boost...or not.

Not really, it is damage and it will get you back in quicker than running, especially if you're main tank and you wanna be back on the mob asap.

And a lot of our skills are situational, shake it off is gonna be 100% situational, half our cross classes are situational. Not everything we get will be a use this 75-100% of the time. It's a cool skill, just gotta find a way to work it in at the appropriate time

And when I say situational, I mean overly so. The fights that have such large AoEs are way too few.

You may find situations where you find it useful (not a complete waste,) but it will always be the inferior use of BG.

well to be honest with you everything that isn't pld is a joke right now for tanks

I have not played PLD, but I hear from some people Shield Stance sucks in bosses due to the slow hit rate?

Maybe I'm just being dumb here, but Onslaught is an Ability, not a Weaponskill. So you can Tomahawk then weave Onslaught in situations like that.

Hell, you could even use it on pull by doing Tomahawk then weaving Infuriate and Onslaught before going into your aggro combo.
