So, instead of people fighting about STR, why are they fighting about VIT?

I know how people have wanted others to pressure using STR back before 3.2 with the new tank formula, but why are people just flipping sides and fighting over VIT instead? It's like the whole community just bandwagoned on the other side and decided to say 'VIT is best' instead of 'STR is best'.

I know that the changes impacted STR some, but I do like to think STR is still a factor in tank damage and is on even level with VIT.

Because yoshi-p explicitly said "tanks, please focus on full vit"

Also saying str is on an even level with vit is absolutely silly

Str accessories? "Maybe" but not really

Str and vit both give the same attack power, except vit also gives hp

All new content is and will be designed around the idea of tanks going full vit

If you go into savage, or even normal, with full str attributes and full str accessories, you're going to get stomped.

Yeah, but then what's the reason of the STR accessories? It makes them obsolete, kinda how VIT was obsolete before 3.2 due to the DPS Checks required. This kinda needs to be addressed since they just flipped the table on it.

The way it was addressed, PLD lacked in damage numbers severely compared to the other tanks(which was an issue). VIT now being a part of the damage formula for tanks fixed the issue, at least. The problem I have is that STR should equal more damage output, and VIT would be more health like it was before; but it's not the case in 3.22. My suggestion would be VIT+STR would still be the equation, but STR dealing out a bit more damage would make a lot more sense to me.

Vit only increasing attack for Tanks, it only increases HP for DPS, so they still want Str acc. So not obsolete at all.

Plus crafted acc with Str on them is still very good from what I understand.

In some bis lists for tanks they will take 1-2 strength accessories and meld vit onto them since they are at a comfortable hp threshold and therefore and going for the substats because..well..bis

Strength shouldn't grant more atk power than vit because then we'd be EXACTLY where we were before which the devs clearly do not want.

Str accessories on tanks are not obsolete, they just aren't 100% king like they used to be.

If you're a really hardcore raider, youll probably end up taking 1 or 2

If you aren't, youll probably go all vit

Were still melding strength onto our fending accessories.

Also, melee dps
They kinda use slaying accessories

They both give .45 AP each. Vit also gives HP.

The only reason for Strength (accessories) to be superior to Vitality is that they can avoid parry in favor of more useful and offensive secondary stats. However, that's a lot of HP lost for a very marginal dps increase. If a healer has to delay a DoT to save you due to that reduced eHP, the bonus is already basically gone.

1 STR = .45 AP
1 VIT = .45 AP

VIT also gives HP and Fending accessories have higher main stat than Slaying ones. The only argument for Slaying accessories now is secondary stats, in which case you could end up ahead on eAP but cost yourself a large amount of health for small returns. That's not even accounting for potential lost healer GCDs, which will probably be more valuable than your own gains.

So, yeah, Slaying is useless. STR isn't, though - you can meld STR materia onto Fending accessories as it's still stronger than Det/Crit/SkS.

And this is that part that seems weird to me... I could have sworn part of the reason they made this change was to discourage tanks wanting pentamelds, etc., and yet that's become no less the issue.
