Now do it with randoms in DF.
I was thinking something like this (but not as witty), but after watching this is pretty much what people did for Wanderer's Palace speedruns, just instead of turning valves after killing certain enemies now we just plain old attack the walls. Plus if you screw up with the hornets the tank will go down pretty quick.
Nothing new. You can do this in pretty much any run to varying degrees of effectiveness, with ones that have transitions being easier. I remember getting a group in Neverreap where the tank decided we were ignoring the Dhamels near the end. We jumped the gap to fight the final boss after clearing the gate keeping adds, and the Dhamels were left standing there staring at us. After we killed the final boss, as a MCH I decided that I didn't like not killing them and decided to shoot them from across the gap. Ended up being a bit of a Crowning Moment of Heartwarming when all three of the other party members decided to come back and join me in killing them with what ranged attacks they had.....
Realistically, you can do this to any boss in the game if the tank can survive the adds well enough. Just pull everything and rush to the boss, before holding the adds at the gate until the 15s pops up and locks them out. I'd advise against it though unless you're premade. I got a tank in Wanderer's Palace earlier who decided to speed run it at the valve stage, and pulled a large chunk of the dungeon into the second boss fight, which resulted in our healer being killed and us having to use melee LB to kill what is arguably one of the weaker bosses in the game in order to keep from wiping. Cue the votekick immediately after.....
Wait, this is considered a secret or something? Most random groups on my server do it like this (without LB waste though).
As the healer, I don't particulary enjoy it...like, what's the point of making me heal through such a huge pull just to speed things up, if afterwards you are gonna wait for my (and the tank's) mana to regenerate so we don't wipe at the boss?
And it doesn't make me feel safe either. Way too many times the dps was too low and the bees final stinged my tank to death. Not nice, really not nice.
Yeah, there's no way they would have designed the dungeon that way without expecting people to try to skip mobs there; I'm sure they keep this sort of thing well in mind now.
Only thing you have to watch out for there is Final Sting from the Orn Hornets. They will try to use it about 20 or so seconds after they are engaged, and it still rips 75 (80?) % or so of the target's max HP if it's not stunned.
