So an individual player can buy a house, then, due to some mishap like perhaps they are ill or their house burns down or floods or whatever, can't log on for 35 days, and lose their house, just like with Free Companies? Only there's NOBODY who can log in to keep the place going, UNLIKE Free Companies. Sounds totally fair, right?
Can there please be some clarification regarding this?
Perhaps the 35 day thing can be repealed entirely since it's stupid anyway.

The house next to ours never gets used (members never appear to be online)... the players level'd an FC, bought the property and use the message to broadcast their FC name, which btw is a url (that's right a URL) for a Chinese style eCommerce site; basically solicitation. They have been reported by numerous other players in the ward and nothing gets done. Their building is taking away from another FC having a space and I would welcome their home getting das boot. -

this topic is what enraged me months ago after i bought my solo FC house.
i have been patiently waiting on personal housing to come out as a safety net.
im sure not many will understand but housing is a much bigger drawl for me than coil.
when i read they had thought to do the 35 day thing with FC housing i was pissed...
but i held my breath in hopes for personal housing and the restrictions to follow.
we need to know what their end game is when it comes to housing and servers and time limits.
they plan years ahead. they know the answer now. but much like these patch notes they will wait
to divulge the info as to not upset the natives too soon... -

Kind of hard to put a time frame on something that is suppose to be fun and on the side (a game). People invest, currently, a decent chunk of gil to get these houses and if they decide to take a hiatus for whatever reason (I left for nearly 8 months till 2.3 came out) they may not decide to return if what they invested in is entirely gone. The only way I could see it work with the current prices is upon return the player gets a voucher for a same size plot, and able to retrieve all items from the NPC. That way if they never return, the plot is open, if they do, its a minor inconvenience but not a huge gil loss.

If "personal" housing differed in some way from FC housing, I would say that a double standard would be perfectly acceptable, but in this case IT IS NOT.
And I feel that we should not be forced to lose our personal homes because we don't play for 5 weeks.
Also: A 35 day boot policy does NOTHING to stop these "crummy neighbors" you referred to, as they will continue to log in to keep their advertisement going. They have a reason to log in because "playing" the game is how they get their real life income. Whereas it hurts REAL PEOPLE who aren't "playing" the game for RMT purposes. They are playing for fun, supposedly.
