Is the guild mark restriction unreasonable?

I like just about everything I've seen in 1.18.. except the change for guild marks. Maybe it's because I mostly craft, but this feels like a punishment for crafters. Was it not limited enough by the number of local leves available? Now over half the leves that are available will be all but useless.

Let's say you're a rank 25 weaver. There are no R20s in Ul'dah. Oh well, no weaver's guild marks for you - come back in 32 hours.

What is the purpose of this restriction? To make us travel more? Travel is already broken, you don't want to be drawing even more attention to that fact. And that aside, how about futile travel? What if I was in Limsa, and came to Ul'dah simply because I couldn't get weaver's guild marks in Limsa, only to find no leves available?

If I'm missing something, I'm sorry and feel free to yell at me. But this seems such an unnecessary and utterly stupid decision. I'm hoping I'm somehow wrong about it.

I think its a reasonable request to make of people.

It makes sense that the guilds would be more likely to reward people in the areas they're based.
Classes aren't discriminated against as the same restrictions are applied to all classes.
I think its fair to ask players to travel in order to obtain the rewards they want.
It means players are going to me more likely to start moving their characters to Gridania and Limsa Lominsa rather than everyone gathering in Ul'dah.

Not really what the OP is talking about, I don't think. The weaver guild is in Ul'dah, so that's not a problem. The problem is that sometimes there will be no leves that give guildmarks in a city. So if you're unlucky and there's no leves that give guild marks this leve cycle, then you're just boned. 'cause you certainly won't find any of them anywhere else.

I think they will work on the distribution of the Crafting Leves in 1.19
At the end of the day, it's not guaranteed you'll get Marks anyway.
Traveling is a pain right now; but come 1.19 it should be fine.
I think it's a fair additive to make people move out of Ul'dah regularly.

I'm inclined to agree to a point.

The imbalance occurs due to the leve distribution in an area. In Ul'dah, I have a decent amount of r15-r25 leves to choose from yet at the same time I can rarely find any r15 leves for weaver and maybe a couple r20's (take note this was during when my weaver was r16).

Also it has a higher favor towards high level crafters vs low level crafters. Higher level=more leves to choose from that has the potential of giving out marks in your reward. It doesn't necessarily have to be a leve that gives you optimal skill gains as long as you're looking for the marks.

SE could do either of these two things: focus more new leves towards the city-states that have the appropriate guild contained or allow guild marks to appear straight from r1 leves.

I think the guild mark change was dumb and it doesn't seem like the local leves are paying out guild marks any more often than before the patch.

However, I am pretty happy about the SP bonus when you turn the local leve in.

2 resets now and not a single guild mark for mining in all cities.

I mean before the patch, they were giving guild marks like free samples at walmart. Atleast it was like that with DoW and DoM. Kind of glad since people are actually in Gridania and Limsa now. They will most likely make some adjustments with 1.19 and 1.20

I feel this would work better if either...

- The leves offered in cities in which the respective guild is in would offer guaranteed guildmarks (for rank 15+ or 20+ leves, anyway).
- More leves were made available in each city for the guild in that city (eg. more weaver leves in Ul'dah, more carpenter leves in Gridania, etc.).
