the new tank mounts

Just curious if I'm the only very upset tank about this? Been taking sense my first day in game. Done 300+ 50 level dungeons yet I get a kick in the nuts because it isn't coil? I don't do coil, so I'll never get my mount? Why do level 50 dungeons not count? All my runs in ak and wp and duty roulette don't mean anything? I just found it a little upsetting. Maybe make reward as well doing 400 dungeons that are 50 level or higher I dunno....

Just out of curiosity, why do you refuse to do coil?

Because you can farm those ridiculously easily and insanely quickly with barely any effort. The fastest qualifying content for the tank achieve is t4, which takes at least 10 minutes, closer to 15 at the minimum (if you wipe, it'll go up way higher), and can't be completed by people that don't have at least a reasonable foundation in how to tank. The devs didn't want to make it an achieve that people would get as alt-tanks; they wanted to make an achievement to reward people who actually main as tank (and to encourage people to start maining as tank more often).

It's not just coil. EX primals apply as well. If you don't want to do EX primals or coil, you're basically saying that you don't want to do endgame that requires effort. The devs want to reward people for tanking content that actually takes tanks with some degree of skill (which is the content that tends to suffer from a dearth of tanks).

So t4 is faster then any other dungeon besides brayflax? Yet that counts and lost cities doesn't? All end game needs effort. Any ex fight besides garuda took no effort at all on tanks part really. Dungeons we still have to hold our hate. And I do not do coil mainly because work/fiance. I have no coil groups and sadly just don't have the time for it like I wish I did. Also I can't imagine getting 200 ex kills anytime this decade.

To be fair, T4 can be done faster then any dungeon in game. Not even 10 minutes really. Our FC group was doing it in 6min or under yesterday just farming some gear, and it was just random FC members, not like our raiding group. The 15% buff is pretty ridiculous.. and it will only get easier with future buffs. T4 takes a little coordination but I wouldn't qualify it as 'hard' these days, especially with full i90s being pretty standard.

Perhaps if they had done a system involving both, or one or the other, it would have been better. For instance, 100 8 mans and 200 high level dungeons, or whatever. Every career tank I've known could care less about these mounts because it is just too much effort to be bothered. We continue to tank, and check the bar occasionally for where we stand. Heck, I don't even know what I'm at.. prob like 40/200 for each job, if not less on one or the other. I do want the mount, it just isn't worth it. Especially stretching myself thing playing tank constantly instead of relaxing on a DD/heal, or simply helping out FC members on what is needed.

Different degrees of effort. And it's not just the effort you expend inside the dungeon. All of the stuff that qualifies for the achieves is 8 man content, which means that there is organizational effort expended. You don't really expect to succeed on a DF for an EX primal or coil. You fully expect to succeed on anything 4 man (or even HM primals, given their roulette status).

Dungeons are complete and utter jokes where mechanics are concerned. In Titan EX, you have to dodge stuff that will instantly kill you and tank swap. In Ifrit EX, you have to tank swap without cleaving the breath to your other tank, dodge charges, avoid killing your group with the tank eruption, and place Ifrit properly so that people don't die to the plumes. Even if you find all of those to be incredibly easy tasks (I do; I've been farming the EX primals since a week after 2.1), they still require more effort than anything you find in a 4 man dungeon.

Not all endgame content is created equal. Just because you do the easiest stuff (for *whatever* reason) doesn't mean that you deserve to get the same things as someone doing the harder stuff (and you already get the nearly the same gear since you can spend unlimited myth tomes to get gear equivalent of coil and soldiery to get stuff that's better).

A vast majority of my achieve kills were total pugs I found via PF. You don't have to have a static in order to do achievement content or even an active FC or endgame LS. You simply have to actually join groups to do it.

You could just as easily complain that it's hard to get the gilded mount if you run with a static since you're required to run with DF solo queue people in order to get commendations (and it's not even guaranteed because they have to pick you specifically). The tank achievements are for people that actually do the endgame content you can't just fall into and complete. If you're not one of those people, then the devs weren't aiming the achievements at you (or they *were* aiming them at you, but they're working to encourage you to actually do the harder content you currently refuse to do).

6 minutes on the inside. I've yet to see any group that doesn't add at least 2-3 minutes between runs, when you add up loading times, breaks, etc., which is where I got the 10 minutes from.

It's also not the same as doing the expert level dungeons. I've done expert dungeons via DF in under 20 minutes, even when there are people that have no idea what they're doing. That is *never* going to happen in a t4 run. You're only every going to see the 10 minute turn over on t4 when you're running with a group of skilled players that know the content and work well together. Expert dungeons involve no organization whatsoever; coil runs actually do require organization, whether it's PF, LS, or FC (or static).

And I doubt the devs expected any or even a significant minority of tanks to get the mounts. The people that have them now are not the normal tanks, even amongst the "career tanks" (and every single one of them that I've seen is most definitely a "career tank"). We're those crazy bastards that were willing to smash our heads into content time and time again to get it.

As I said before, the devs obviously didn't design the tank achieves with short term acquisition in mind. If you've got 40/200, you're on a pretty decent track since you're liable to have it within a few more months. I bet *that* is the rate the devs expect and most likely want to see. They don't want to encourage people to tank in the short term; they want to encourage people to tank over the long term.

And to answer your question, I dont mind the way the tank mount achievement the way. It is to distinguish a career tank and season tank...

During the event that was held in Japan, someone actually asked this to YoshiP.

YoshiP apologized but the honest answer to this one is because they never stored that data (how many times tanks went inside dungeons prior to 2.2) so they couldn't put those numbers in and had to start from 0 count.
