Just had a pretty entertaining Pharos run.
Here's to hoping that Scholar in the party sees this.
So we start, I had Titan out because I was doing FATEs, and I had a nagging feeling that I didn't trust the Warrior I had to guard me proficiently when I go all out Summoner DPS, they had 8,800 HP without food it seemed, so clearly well geared and should be able to hold aggro fine. Yet I had a feeling. So I tell them I'm leaving him out until I feel assured that some random add isn't going to rush my way and cleave me when I'm Bane'ing and so on. They all laugh and freak out about a tank pet being out instead of Garuda, I don't much care.
They learn to deal with it and the run of Pharos proceeds, and just like a self-fulfilling prophecy, the WAR did not tell the SCH they were going to pull everything in the first area, they pop Vengeance before they have even two adds so their most powerful damage resistance cooldown just got wasted before there was more than two enemies, healer wasn't ready, Tank dies, Titan helps save the day. I for sure leave him out now if communicating is so difficult for them.
Along the way, the WAR is trying to go through it as fast as possible, often leaving adds alone and not holding them to run to the next group when enmity is shifting towards DPS or when we're before a boss, even running a half health Screamer before the Zu into the room with them and ignoring it once the fight starts. I have Titan at this point constantly picking up anything they leave behind, and he holds aggro pretty well given my gear at this point. Later on, the WAR even got the bright idea to drop Defiance and let Titan tank, and it worked well, if the SCH decided to heal it at all.
Once we finally get to Siren, we're getting adds running all over the place because the WAR is still ignoring anything that isn't a boss, and with 5 zombies running around at once, it's difficult to micro-manage Titan and do DPS at the same time because they're getting lazy with it. Siren nonetheless drops quickly because me and the DRG and WAR I have to admit are geared adamantly.
At the end, WAR complains about low DPS like we didn't just blow through Pharos in about 25 to 35 minutes, which seems decent to me with a PUG group.
But here's the kicker for me. A geared tank, a Warrior nonetheless, not in tank stance, will do great DPS for a Tank class, better than Titan Egi could ever hope to do. So a thought occurred to me, why are they complaining about low DPS, when we could have Titan tank everything, they drop Defiance, and it's like we have an extra DPS on the field? They could be doing great damage without whining about "low DPS", and I actually get to use a pet effectively that gets seldom used in the end.
In essence if I manage him well enough, it's full-proof if the healer can heal appropriately. So why was this such a hard thing to grasp for anyone?
