Not sure how to handle the new player hate.

I hit 50 just before the patch hit. I started spamming dungeons to gear up my Blm hoping to have a reasonably good time in the process. Sadly this has been no where near the case.

I will only queue for dungeons I've either done or watched a guide for. My rotation is pretty simple and I am fairly sure that my error count is minimal. So far I've made a few mistakes while learning but, I've managed to down everything I've gone into so far that people won't bail on the first failed attempt.

The big problem I am having is that people don't want me there before we've started or gone very far into trash. The comments aren't that I suck or don't know what I am doing. It's entirely that my gear isn't good enough. This is while I'm at 62 in 48-55 requirement dungeons with food and pots. I've been blamed for a lot of other peoples mistakes so far because it's so easy to just point at my gear and say I'm holding them back.


I cleared Brayflox HM the first time with no complaints and even managed an upgrade from the run. I try to run it again and am immediately hit with the passive aggressive fake mt trash talk about my gear and hp.

This has happened quite literally every other dungeon so far in over dozen attempts since last night. How do people expect me to gear or get better when even in the dungeons I'm well over the listed requirements of, people make sure I know I'm not wanted or am the source of all their woes?

I've been through a lot of MMOs over the years and have never seen anything close to this level of dislike of new players. People are either rude and very negative or completely silent. No one seems to be able to tell me what else I am supposed to be doing though. I haven't seen any coloring books and comfortable looking corners where I can earn gear without doing the actual content.

Am I missing something? Any one have any idea what people with this mind set think I am supposed to be doing? It's been one hell of a demotivating experience since I hit 50.

Make sure you tick all languages on the DF top right, that way you have more chance of being with people from other servers who dont know you.

If it continues to the point youre truly unhappy, consider a server change

Join a FC. If you're in a FC then ask for some runs. Also consider grinding CT. I never see people complain about players in lower-end gear there unless they wipe the party.

I'm sorry for you, that you only encountered such people on your dungeon runs.

I suggest you try to join a newplayer friendly FC and or play with friends and doing content with them. The random people in the dungeons all have little time and patience it seems and also are douchebags.

But let me tell you not all are like that, there are good guys out there too, who don't spit on you only because you're new.

I think the people you matched with are particularly dickish. It's kind of a crap shoot with the DF. I've been matched with some really nice people but also with some really awful ones who look for reasons to get nasty.

People tend to be extra obnoxious if they think the consequences of their bad behavior won't follow them back to their server.

I would suggest trying to find a FC, even a casual one and grabbing some players to do runs with from your own server.

Also you could try queuing for other language parties if you're only doing E ones.

(Also, there's a serious lag issue right now, might have been going on while you were running the dungeons leading to people not knowing what's going on and just blaming the low geared guy.)

so full i60 party can easily do it

What's your current rotation? If people are complaining about that, ignore rude comments where constructive criticism should be, but by all means check if your rotation is good. If they're complaining about your gear, ignore them completely.

On BLM, I do:

-Thunder II
-Fire 3
-Fire 1 until around 500mp while using Firestarter and Thunder 3 for Thundercloud
-Blizzard 3
-Reapply THunder if needed, rinse and repeat

My Burst Rotation is
-Set up like above
-Use Raging Strikes at around 1.6kmp
-Keep going
-Normal cast Flare at around 500mp
-Convert
-Swiftcast Flare
-Transpose

AoE Rotation is:
Fire 3
Fire 2
Flare when MP is low.

I'm lucky enough to only have run into a select few dickheads in my time playing FFXIV.
There's only been a handful of times when people have called me out on my gear (apparently full Darklight and an i70 weapon isn't adequate for AK according to some people)

Ignore them. These people are generally the immature douchebag type who are only there to illicit a reaction from you
They are like crying children who are begging for a new toy. Ignore them long enough and they eventually go back to sucking their thumbs.

Like others have said, I recommend finding a friendly FC to take you in.
I haven't found the right FC for me, but I'm sure you can find a good one.

That's the rotation I've been working on pretty much word for word. My reaction time on it is a bit sluggish and I occasionally fat finger because I haven't built up the muscle memory yet. The complaints have pretty much been all about gear and Hp. It is good to know I'm working on the current rotation though.


I did run into quite a few nice and helpful people on the way to 50. After I hit 50 those people started disappearing fast.

I am nosing around for an active FC. The few I've tried have either been dead or dying so I've been trying to get to a point where I can actively contribute to one and be helpful when I do find one that seems promising.
