i wanted to see what ppl rly thought about the thoughts with a poll about it
personally i think its a horrible horrible idea that destroys a game
why make old gear obsolete just to make sure the new gear is used? why not just make gear the compliments the other gear like in ff11. hey i worked 2 years for this gear its awesome ^^ yet i have more to get :D. 2 weeks later they riase the level cap. damn all my items are shit i have to start over :|. instead of introducing new items that could be like ooo thats better for this specific job in this circumstance :O! but yet my stuff isnt rly shitty and i can keep using it :D. i just think its stupid :|

incase you didnt know they plan to up the level cap every year or so

im not complaining about raising the cap NOW but if they do it every year or so and never reach a stable lever like ff11 had 75 that is what i would hate

I am going to go with hate the idea, not because I do not think it can work, I just have 0 faith in SE pulling it off.

They have never released enough content at a major expansions to follow in wow's foots steps on this one... I do not belive Blizz releases enough content with WoW in expansions to validate destroying all the old content every few years.

Steadily releasing level increases negates old content unless the old content is revisited every single time. SE has never released a mmo or expansion to a mmo that was not bare bone... so I feel safe to say the chances of them releasing enough content at an expansion or level increase is near the level of impossible unless they increase the amount of people developing for this game.

i think that be crazy hard to do without just keep making older gear jsut be do a quest now its +1 do another quest its +2 now and that would become boring like leve quests after a couple of increases (still thumbed up though :|)

I was thinking more like..

Put caps on content and make the hard earned old gear turn into rare mateira for the new gear from the new content.

The level caps on content would keep high level people from flying thru it easy and the conversion of the say lvl50 gear to rare matira for the new lvl60 gear would keep people from feeling like they worked so hard for the lvl50 gear only to toss it.

that saves 1 generation because lets say
gen1 awesome gear
gen2: awesome gear gen 1 becomes awesome materia
gen3:awesome gear gen2 becomes awesome materia gen1 becomes bad materia
it doesnt rly help mcuh with keeping it up to date

EDIT: also why cant u implement other content that compliments the old gear yet all the best gear can be made into materia so that crafters wont be killed off i mean that doesnt seem like a bad idea :| while its ur idea its just shaped around keeping the lv cap the same

it can a synthesis using the old weapon, some new ingredients from the new content, or items you got from some type of fame/currency. It also shouldnt be the only gear, but simply a choice, you can upgrade your old good gear, or you can try to obtain a new one.

To be honest, I don't really care about this issue that much. It's way too early for it to even matter.
