Summoner got destroyed this patch

Square destroyed the Summoner with this patch and did nothing to fix what was really wrong with the job. Removing thunder and replacing it with that nerfed Blizzard 2 reduced Summoner's damage by 10-15% making us been more less wanted for raids and drains a lot of mp unlike Black Mages Summoners don't get mp restored since we don't have umbra ice. Blizzard 2 for bind is useless because it will never be used in any type of
Summoner Rotation just like the equally worthless Trip Disaster. Thunder should've been replaced with a 60s cool down on Enkindle.
They also should've revamped the Egi System
Make Ifit useful
Make Titan useful

Losing thunder is ~7.5% dps loss.

It certainly hurts, to be sure, but it does not mean summoners are losing everything.

I am all aboard the "SE, what were you thinking about making mana an actual resource for dps, make tri-disaster not cost an arm and a leg to cast".

Also, lolol, blizz 2 > tri disaster.

There must be some sort of joke here.

That's the problem with new classes : they don't know what they're doing with it.

I'm not the number cruncher I used to be, so could you explain how the loss of Thunder is only 7.5%? I'm genuinely curious.

Well I can't really dig up my thread now, but basically looked at all the raw potency numbers of all summoner attacks (ignoring spell haste).

Essentially, what it boils down to is summonerss do roughly 22k potency over 180 seconds (cooldown of RS).

You spend 8-9 of those GCD's on thunder, which counts for something like 2300-2400 potency.

You instead use those GCDs to Ruin, which is ~740 potency.

So you lose 1660 potency over 180 seconds, which is ~9.2 pps which is roughly 7.5% total dps loss.

The reason it seems smaller is your pet is there for ~25-33% of your damage.

This includes pet approximations.

It is ~10% of personal dps loss, if you want to ignore pets entirely.

For cleaving...it is a slightly higher dps loss, but we can't keep thunder up on more than maybe 2 targets anyway, too much mp.

Looking at the notes, I only see the loss of Thunder and the Virus change as the only nerfs Summoner got. Considering the Thunder change is a nerf to all magic classes other than Thaumaturge and Black Mage, you only specifically got a nerf to Virus.

There's only one damage dealing magic class that isn't a Thaumaturge though, so that point seems kind of silly.

Hell if anything it's the other way around. The virus change more significantly impacts BLM and WHM because their (non-traited) virus is potentially not going to be used at all.

Two last questions just to be sure.

1.) Does 2300 - 2400 potency include Enkindle in the rotation? (Depending on the instance, I tend to save it)
2.) pps = potency per second? (I'm not familiar with the acronyms floating around the forums these days. :p)

1. Naw, I dont' think I counted enkindle...over the course of 5 minutes its something like maybe a 1%? dps increase.
2. yea, thats what I use it as.

PS maybe look at my edits, I realized I was not entirely clear.
