No sh!t. (To put it bluntly), if you read my post and understood it you'd know that was what I was trying to get at too lol.

A quick edit: That being said the ----- word we use has to encompass the more than the bond between partners in love, but also other kinds of pacts if they were to implement that such as the pact between best friends etc.

@Shougun- Mate is tricky! haha, back in my home country, the slang term 'mate' also meant friend lol

I think it would be better to create a word that involves two people together for the sake of love. Otherwise indirectly the word is encouraging a better defined separation.

@Nix: Yeah a British and Australian friend where using it at me. But as a general American to American word I dont think its commonly used as friend, at least from my experience.

Haha yeah, it's very localized! I used to live in the Midlands (right smack dab in the middle of England) and it was used there, and as far as Manchester/Birmingham but when I moved down south for studies in Exeter it wasn't so prevalent there. I haven't encountered it at all in the states yet D:

I know 4 languages and this is a tall order, how would one define feelings between 2 people which has not yet been given a meaning... I Slavic nothing exists to define feeling one man (or woman) has towards another, when there is NO bond of blood between the. Some one that can dissect languages would need to try there hand at this.

Muggle (from harry potter) is now in the Oxford dictionary.

(Definitely a tall order :P - being accepted by law would help though)

Thing is, muggle is a word derived from the meaning of a different word... so while it adds variation meaning does not change. Dirty blood, mixed blood, is something used as an insult from the middle ages, do new word, old meaning... The "-----" that is needed can not be linked to another meaning, or it will be for nothing.

why is this foreplay being added to my video games!?!?!?! lol, but seriously they don't need this in game, just a waist of resources. the same sex stuff is questionable and important but first fight it in the real world b4 you try to fight some game company that isn't even mained in your country. the states don't even all have same sex yet. but again, this stuff don't' belong in mmo's in my opinion.

Its already in game [2.0] - so too late on that.

And an MMO is (or should be) more then just an endless long grind - its also about community.

One of the most popular suggestions in here is to make the system more modular to allow for SSM or just a brotherhood/sisterhood bond.

The difference happening by player choice.

The "twelve" is a real-world religion? Sorry but that is like saying the Jedi and the Sith are real world...

Real-world religion implies that our characters are christian, buddhist, muslim etc etc, which is false.

I can accept your view on it, but marriage is going to be ingame regardless, this has been confirmed.

We were asked for our point of view on things, so here's the thread D:

It goes beyond the topic of SSM to the point where even hetero couples that play characters with the same gender based on aesthetic choice would be locked out of this too, which is kinda crappy.

Now the topic isn't so much as 'does marriage belong in a video game' but 'how can we incorporate this partnership so to speak so that no one is excluded'.
