And last I checked Yoshi P and the team wanted Hrothgar in the game, made them and are working on the females. So no, they weren't a mistake, no race in this game was.
Sorry if they are not to your liking, but a lot of players who only play beast races in MMOs, only play 14 because of them and otherwise wouldn't even touch 14. So they are good for the game, new players regardless of their race are welcome.

If I could choose, some will be straight long and flowy, some will be puffy and some will be more intricate (like a giant messy braid that goes all the way down to the hips).

I am thinking of the drawing one of FFXIV's artists did with the veil and think that would look cool too.

Also, might be a bit much but a "bald" option would be interesting for people who just want to be a lioness.

You know, I'm almost certain that we'll have this. Not just because of the murals, but also because of the Ronso NPCs and how lionesses in general appear. It seems to be too commonplace for them to just randomly forget about.

The Ronso NPC do appear as a nice combination between a lioness and a jaguaress (?), but all of them, to my knowledge had hair, even if it was short. The Bozjan mural did have all female Hrothgar portrayed as having no hair/being bald. But you could say that was just an artistic choice of the creator of the mural, or who knows maybe being bald was a requirement for being a handmaiden or queen?

But I would love to see both a bald and a bald but with a hairdress option. :3

I'm pretty sure the mural was just that. A representation of a female Hrothgar and nothing more. And since female lionesses are typically maneless, that's the most "normal" you'd get. It doesn't mean female Hrothgar can't grow hair or don't have hairstyles, just that the simplest way of drawing them to tell them apart from the males is by drawing your average, standard lioness.

Fun fact though. IRL, lionesses can grow manes. (Feel free to google it if you distrust random links) Sure, the process involves some hormones and other sociological aspects of lion pride dynamics, but it's evidence that we shouldn't just see lionesses as smooth-headed creatures. Hairstyles CAN be applied to them. So it is possible.

As for the mural itself... I honestly see it as how Ancient Egyptians would depict their stuff. It'd often be a featureless simplified drawing.

Bald head as an *option* for Femhroths, not enforced!

Hrothgar are not just lions, they are solewalking anthropomorphic great cats with opposable thumbs. They are pumas, snow leopards, ocelots, lynxes, jaguars, tigers, etc! And they are also like humans in terms of intelligence, speech, clothing, anatomy, etc, so why not have long hair!

Hrothgals should also have boobs btw! Even tho cats don't have em. Two boobs only of course!

Oh, I didn't know that, gonna look into it! But yes the Bozjan mural is very much inspired by the Egyptian hieroglyphs. Definitely wanted to portray them in a more simplified manner. And I am 100% sure they will have hair, that's a no-brainer. But there is in this game a base hairstyle that is just bald, they might add that one.
+ the idea of the more dominant female having long hair is a really cool thought to me! :3

There is already a bald option for the females in this game and as Female Hrothgar are humanoid felines a bald option might suit well. And that would be just 1 of X amount of options. Also the other feline options you choose also do not have a main (or hair). But they will 100% have the chance to have hair, like every other character in the game.

Long and flowy hair would definitely be my choice since I like the aesthetic ^^

And I don't know from where the boobs comment came from... they are based on Ronso from FFX, and they do have a normal woman's chest, so as you said 2 boobs. XD They didn't give them digitigrades to not have to remake the footwear, they won't give them 6 boobs to have to remake the chest pieces. You can breathe a sigh of relief that they won't do that. They will have a humanoid body with an anthropomorphic feline head, just like the males.

If they were to choose Female Roe as a base, I think it would look neat. They might end up looking like Misija's ancestor (which has a modified female Roe body). I prefer Halone's aesthetic simply because my brain sees a big Valkyre warrior strong woman and instantly likes it. <3

I firmly Disagree.

But Ive said several times in this thread: as much as I want it and would prefer the FemRoe Body just like the Males are MaleRoe....the only thing Im truly worried about, and the One Absolute Thing I care about, is if they look like Real Female Counter-parts to the Males.
So long as they are a Good Looking Female Beast Race, and they dont get lazy and take a shortcut and make them Miqote 2. Then everything else I can live with.
Except them being super short compared to the Males - Like the AuRa.

You already have Miquo'tes who ARE Mithras from XI, just with different textures. If that wasn't enough to bring them over, doing it a second time won't change anything, or should I tell you the definition of insanity, lol.

Hrothgar are based on Ronso from X, they brought over players who love Ronso as well as people who only play a beast race. We should get the females to be a reimagining of Ronso for the women that also want to play a beast race. The females being based on Ronso would be a win-win situation.

At first, I was willing to give you the benefit of the doubt, but now I truly think you are just a troll. What? Nothing else better to do with your life than upset players who want a beast race? You are as relevant as a biscuit that has drowned in tea and is now sitting at the bottom of the cup.

I was thinking of what kind of racial armour they could have...

The males have a greek gladiator kind of harness with claw hands. So would the females get the same? I kind of hope so since I use the claw hands racial of Hrothgar in a lot of my glams.

I used the roe-female as a base, and gave her more curves from there.
I used the femroe hand-on-hip /cpose to match the hrothgar's pose. I didn't draw the hunch (because I'm bad at drawing hunches, foreshortening is hard ok?), but I would really like for the female hrothgar to have a few hunched /cposes to allow a bestial feel. (I would like to headcanon the Lost female hrothgars as queens who failed and lost their drones, or entirely rogue female hrothgars, so they would be a bit more feral and scary than the helion females, who could be more regal.)

I kind of want to draw the 4 face types and some "hair"styles now '3' (I really do like the idea that the females don't naturally grow hair/manes like the males do, but since hairstyles are a major way of character customization in games they DO have to have something to replace it, and I don't think there's anything else that our human brains could pay attention to that isn't at least an approximation of hair, so headdresses, and veils it is! Like I scratched onto the picture, the hairstyles that we earn can be considered wigs for fairness sake.)

I felt the need to bring this post back up. This was made by @Roda and perfectly shows why a Mithra would look bad as a counterpart to Hrothgar, while a female Hrothgar that looks more like an appropriate counterpart to the males fits better. And I just love this post too much to have it buried in the thread. <3
