And Zumi is correct. In general I refused to do raids with anything over 150ms. Needed to be 50-90 for optimal play/performance. Why? Cause fight mechanics required that. <--- this is a good thing. It means varied and interesting encounters.

I'm not going to watch the whole 30 minute tutorial but from the first 6 minutes of it I don't see anything that would be impossible to dodge even with a .5 second delay if you want to consider someone with a rather high ping.

Perhaps it gets worse later on but many of the skills I seen take "A few seconds" to activate or could be pre-empted by knowing what kind of delay your character works with. Again the latncy issue is only ammounting for a small bit of the 1-2 second delay that we feel currently aprox .5seconds or so if you have 200+ping.

I'm sure there are a great deal of WoW players who face latency issues everyday and still continue to beat content on a regular basis.

Unless we are relying on spaming skill rotations like WoW we wont have to worry about massive differences in DPS and whatnot either.

WoW vs FF11, i like to compair the addon DBM in wow to atma's in ff11 for abyssea, if abyssea didnt have atam's, it would have been some of the hardest content ever released, I saw DBM as the same thing for wow, if DBM wasnt there, the game would be decent, but as it stands it tells you when to run left, when to right right, what/when to kill, anything you can think of, it tells you to do it. People think they are doing these very hard fights, but the addons tell you what to do at every step, for every single mechanic. All they really did is make a bot imo and change the name to addon.

If you want to play on a Japanese server go ahead. I for one want to play on a NA server.

I fail to see how regional servers affects players who want to play on Japanese servers. Are you afraid too many of us will chose a NA server?

You missed most of explanations as to why there's no room for error in most of the encounter. World In Flames in particular requires tight maneuvering and good timing (that can't afford to be ruined by high latency, and delays in use would trivialize that part of the encounter).

Mind you that any additional damage from something like WiF will stress the healers, and unlike XIV or XI where raid damage (as in damage taken by everyone as part of the encounter) isn't very common, WoW's taken to using raid damage as a means to put stress on resources and challenge the healers on top of whatever mechanics involve the tank(s) during the boss fight.

You guys are just wasting your time trying to explain what is raiding to XI/XIV players who never touched any other MMO. They think Ifrit or Garuda = raiding :[ Starting from there, it's hard for them to understand how latency can screw you up in an encounter.

WoW fights are pretty easy to comprehend (unless you were dropped as a baby). The problems that arise are generally with execution. Antipika hit the nail on the head as far as being able to explain the difference; you can't really convey in a video made by very competent players (damn you vodka for going horde) that a single mistake made by ONE person-- not 1 mistake by each person-- can mean a full wipe; especially if your audience won't watch the entire video--anyone who only watches the beginning should really skip to the end for Phase4 if you aren't going to watch it all.

One person can understand the fight just fine, and possibly execute it equally so. The challenge is getting to that point for a full 25 people. You have to pick through an awful lot of stupid/uncoordinated to make it to that point. So much so, that one of the top (if not the top) guilds in the world (Paragon) is now going to 10 man raiding for Mists of Pandaria, because they just can't find people to fill their roster this time around who are good enough for competitive raiding.

It's very hard to explain fast paced combat and the importance of regional data centers when people assume XIV or XI's combat is fast through no fault of their own.
